And yeah, I'm a Democrat/Liberal. Not one of those morons that decides the other views are wrong before hearing the issue, but 8 times out of 10 I side with the Liberal viewpoint. I just CAN'T understand WHY nationalized healthcare is SOOOOOO evil. Ok, fine we might have to pay more in taxes, but aren't LIVES worth that? I mean, it's easy to say NO when you're not in the hot seat. But when your time comes, there's a real good chance your health care provider is going to go through your entire life history to find something that YOU did to cause your sickness and get out of paying for you. Then what? No help for you because nationalized healthcare is evil remember? People are ALREADY saying Obama has failed. We gave Bush eight years, but we can't give Obama six months? He hasn't even done anything monumental yet except for put the stimulus package into motion, which is constantly facing opposition. People are freaking out about all the money being spent, when most of it hasn't been spent yet. A lot of the plan is being worked out now (as in what exactly to spend on) but even the fucking planning is facing opposition. People blame him for spending money that hasn't been touched. Nationalized health care will cost a fuckload. it's just 1 trillion to get it set up. Now there's 400 million Americans, so it doesn't sound like people would be paying much cause there's so many people to pay. but I think it's the top 3-5% pays like 70%+ of the taxes in the country (Or something like that, I don't remember the exact statistic). So basically the rich have to pay for pretty much this whole thing. Now I know that they should pay more because they obviously have mo mula, but they're gonna be paying alot more than this "Just a little bit more" that Obama has said. And I'm neutral on Abortion, both sides have good points imo, and there are more inmportant things to worry about. And I wouldn't be suprised if the Nationalized HC bill never even gets passed. Democrats just want to pass the bill out of spite of the Republicans, and Republicans just want to block everything the Democrats do. Atleast that's just what it seems like. There are free clinics, but compared to the major establishments and hospitals, the treatment provided is severely inadequate. I know the UK's NHS isn't perfect, but I gladly pay my taxes despite rarely having gone to hospital in my life. In fact, I was discussing this the other day, and someone I was talking to made a very good point, saying that if they had the money, they would go private, in an effort to support the NHS allowing whatever facilities they would have needed to be available for someone who cannot afford to go private. I don't have a huge interest in political affairs, but Healthcare is one of the things I have a vested interest in, I find the thought of healthcare being a business rather than a service frankly disgusting. Now I don't know the ins and outs of the American system, nor am I claiming to, so if I have anything wrong please correct me.
