Hey guys, I was planning on making a guide for myself on gear setups for various assigned slayer tasks, so I can reference the screenshots to make sure I have all the gear I'll need for the trip. So basically I'll be posting what I personally take on various different slayer tasks. Please keep in mind I'm not the richest person, your gear may be far better than mine. But it can be a helpful outline for those who are new to slaying a specific monster.

Aberrant Spectres:
user posted image

NOTE: I bank on all herbs irit and up. If you only bank with certain herbs, you may need more potions to last for a trip.

Aviansies (Not a Slayer Task):
user posted image

NOTE: If it is your first time going to GWD, bring a rope. This gear set will keep you safe from all but Bandos NPCs, which shouldn't be near you as you will be going into Armadyl's Eerie. 70 Ranged required.

Black Demons:
user posted image

NOTE: The Anti-Fire shield is for passing blue dragons in taverly dungeon. Using the pipe, I don't get attacked 9/10 times. Its just for safety purposes though.

Black Dragons:
user posted image

NOTE: After entering Zanaris you can safely bank the staff. If collecting hides only, break 1 more ranged potion. But 2-3 doses works for Hides + Bones. Adjust potions to how often you bank.

Dagannoths:
user posted image

NOTE: Game's necklace to Barbarian outpost works better than the lyre. Food is just in case of emergency, but rarely ever used.

Dust Devils:
user posted image

NOTE: After using the shanty pass, unequip the whip to take the carpet ride.

Fire Giants:
user posted image

NOTE: Glarial's Amulet is 100% required to enter the waterfall (Confirmed by Vince)

Gargoyles:
user posted image

NOTE: Rock hammer is a must. Generally an easy task, though they are 100% non-afkable.

Goraks:
user posted image

NOTE: Can hit rather high, be prepared to equip Guthan's at any time. Dramen Staff required to use the fairy rings to get there.

Greater Demons:
user posted image

NOTE: Axe and money required to get through the dungeon.

Hellhounds:
user posted image

NOTE: Anti-fire shield for getting past blue dragons, anti-poison for getting past poisonous spiders. Anti-poison is not necessary, but recommended.

Iron/Steel Dragons:
user posted image

NOTE: This is effective for melee. Although tasks are not great XP, the prospect of a drop is always good. Money/Axe required to get in.

Kalphite Soldiers:
user posted image

NOTE: Rope is necessary to get into the Kalphite dungeon, anti-poisons are necessary because Kalphite Soldiers are poisonous.

Mutated Bloodvelds:
user posted image

NOTE: Starting from obelisk in edgeville, I summon terrorbird, recharge points. Use abyss to blood altar, dismiss bird and drink 2-3 dose of prayer potion. Then, summon the ravenous locusts and set up to cannon away! Must have started Legacy of the Seergaze quest, requires access to the blood altar preferably via the Abyss.

Nechryaels:
user posted image[/IMG]

NOTE: Generally I don't use Guthan's at all during a task, it is just for safety measures. Same goes for the Monkfish.

Spiritual Mages
user posted image

Suqahs:
user posted image

NOTE: The lyre is for getting to Relleka, the Seal of Passage is for taking the boat to Lunar Isle. Suqahs are 111 but can be fought without guthans if using a bunyip and super defence potion.

Waterfiends:
user posted image

NOTE: Due to the large amount of drops, I try to keep my inventory somewhat empty. Filling up the inventory a bit more can lead to longer trips, but also means you cannot grab as much. Plan ahead wisely.

REFERENCE GUIDE IS INCOMPLETE! I'll be adding more pics later as I think of them, or as I get the task. Gear suggestions are appreciated, just note that I'm not filthy rich (and neither is most of WG)

Updates:
  • Confirmed Glarial's amulet is necessary. Cropped pics, added Aviansies and Greater Demon pics.
  • Added black dragons and Goraks, fixed some text fonts/colors.
  • Added Aberrant Spectres, Gargoyles, Hellhounds, Kalphite Soldiers and Mutated Bloodvelds.
  • Added Dagannoth, updated Black Demons, Fire Giants, Iron/Steel Dragons and Mutated Bloodvelds.
  • Added Suqah, updated Black Dragons, Dust Devils, Gorak and Greater Demons.
  • Added Nechryaels, Spiritual Mages and Waterfiends. Updated Aviansies.

Nice to see you're making a guide, but any chance you could crop those screenshots down a bit? They're huge atm, 4mb each, you've got 4 in there so that's 16mb already.

If you wanted, you could use the Fire Giants in the Chaos Tunnels so you wouldn't need Glarial's Amulet.

The Glarial's Amulet IS required for Fire Giant tasks if you're killing them at the Waterfall. If you don't have it, you won't be able to get inside.

Aviansies are good at 70. I started at 71 I think, and they are pretty much good all the way until 99. They drop addy bars often (Noted, 4 each time). Addy bars are about 2.25k each atm. They also drop rune daggers and runite limbs, which are great for alching. You can get about 1 addy bar per 1 kill ratio, and out of 500 addy bars you'll get something like 250k cash from alching.

The XP for ranged is helpful for those who are unsure how to train ranged efficiently.

Oh btw, add a rope to that Fire Giants picture, I've never successfully done it without a rope, it might be possible, but it would be dancing with the devil.

And I personally, would use a Rune Defender for any task which you use Guthan/Bones to Peaches/Bunyip+ etc for, seeing as you have unlimited food technically anyway, just go for high damage.

Also, Zamorak Book (or even Guthix/Sara) can be good for Prayer tasks (Aberrants, Black Demons, etc) due to the +5 prayer bonus, and +8 attack bonus (Zamorak) - Stoles are also very cheap and give a massive +10 prayer bonus, which means you can literally used 4-5 points or so per kill, I'd use it over a Glory, but probably not over a Fury.

Finally, if you're on a Prayer task, and don't have a Fire Cape, a god cloak can be a nice prayer addition, about 500k currently for the Guthix one, so not too pricey seeing as you can sell it after - and it gives +3 prayer bonus.

Need two laws for trollheim tele.

Dan, you're right I forgot about the rope for fire giants.

Also Dan, Obby shield gives a decent strength bonus which I'd prefer over the prayer bonus of a book. On the other hand, I've never had a rune defender and don't know the stats of it. I might get one soon and take that into consideration.

If you go inside the Armadyl area and want want to use Barrows Gloves instead of the bracers, you can use a Zamorak Dragonhide top, replace the Saradomin, then use a Holy Symbol, until you get to the point to shoot across the little space. It helps a little bit. Just don't forget to use Protect from Range until the crossbow thing, and also switch to your Armadyl amulet when you get there.

Also note:

Dust Devils are much easier to kill in the chaos tunnels, its only like a short walk (3 portals I think) to them, and they drop more charms there as well as having closer/more spawns than the smoke dungeon.

Goraks are better to kill in the GWD, it is hard to get there and you must have a sara/zammy item, but you can do an entire task eating minimal food/Without guthans because they are normally in combat with something else. Also if you're 83+ slayer there is normally a sara spiri mage there to drop you a pair of boots if you want.

Nah, I beg to differ Evil, lol.

Though I AM 99 Defence, I'm hardly touched on Gorak Tasks. (And I wear Full Rune.)

All I do is take a Pure Set, Full Rune, Slayer Helmet, Whip, Rune Defender as well as a full inventory of sharks to the Dimensional Area where Goraks are. It's single Combat, so you can't get fucked up by like 15 at once, and they're aggressive, so you hardly even have to pay attention. Since tasks are minimal(like 40-ish) it's easy to finish it all in one go. I finish tasks sometimes with only eating like 5 Shark.

I looked at some of your pics, and they could be massively updated.
For avansies, those monks are not needed at all, two tops. and more bones to peaches.
Black dragons you should just do baby dragons in chaos tunnels.
Dust devils just bring a bunyip.

A) I don't see how you can get all those bones with just two monkfish. And besides, monkfish are cheap. Doesn't really matter.
cool.gif I do black dragons for hides/bones, and possibility of visage. I prefer them over baby black dragons.
C) As I said, older pictures are being updated. Haven't gotten a dust devil task in 40+ tasks, so I haven't bothered updating.

Nice to see you're still keeping this updated.

Personally, I use my Fighter Torso on any task I use Proselyte for. So for Aberrant Spectres, I use Torso/Proselyte bottoms. The same for Iron/Steel/Black Demon tasks.

For other tasks maybe include a set-up (if you have time, or feel it's necessary) that includes using a Bunyip?

Overall, still a very helpful guide. Great work Mike.

David, for the most part I took these pictures before I had 68 summoning. They will gradually be updated to phase out full guthans, and include bunyips as I get the tasks.

Oh and I don't have a Torso Lll.

Ah, well you're still doing a good job. When I get some tasks, I'll take some HD pics of my invent and gear setup and if you want you can use them for your guide.

This is a great help.
