We're going to try this again.
I'm quoting Evil's post on the elections.

QUOTE (Theevildead2)
Once again it is time to recruit another member to join the WG council, this election will be to recruit a General Council.

The ideal qualities that we are looking for in a "General Council" are:

  • Calm

  • Someone that is good at comforting people

  • Have a quality to boost morale when down

  • Previous experience of ACP/Mod CP/IRC Commands would be hugely encouraged

  • Have a Microphone for Teamspeak and is not afraid to speak openly

  • Would be open to constructive criticism

  • Cope under pressure and stress

  • Would not mind spending 4-5 Hours doing forum work (For example, setting up a training programme and so on)

  • Would know how to settle disputes between 2 or more members

  • Would ALWAYS reply to EVERY pm or other means of communication from members

Please be aware that by applying for council you will be expected to devote a large amount of your time to help WG improve and diversify, so if you are not willing to dedicate a significant amount of time towards WG then please do not apply.

As always Elias has covered the risks of applying for Council:

QUOTE (His_Lordship)
You are about to apply for something dangerous
This clan has been through many council members.
We have never had a stable council.
If you join the council it is very likely you will quit WG soon after.

The council members are placed under EXTREME stress.
You just can't believe how much...
Though I have to admit it has become easier.
(This is because we took away total democracy meaningless drama)

Anyway, you don't know what it's like to be in the council.
Some of you think it is the ultimate glory.
This glory will fade after a few weeks and you will suffer.
Others are in it because they want to change WG.
Then they suffer as well because the stress grows too heavy.

You may look at the council and say not much is being done for WG.
But it is hard for council members to do anything.
We are labouring and we need plenty of breaks.
Sure you may say nothing is being done.
It's REALLY that bad. We just have to keep our workload small.
Otherwise WG gets too stressful.
This is one of the reasons many council members leave.
They don't realise how stressful it gets.

IF YOU WANT THIS JOB, YOU REALLY HAVE TO HAVE A DEEP URGE FOR IT.
So please, before you apply, think VERY HARD.
There is a reason council members are temporary.
When you are in the council, it isn't a lot of fun.
People start questioning what's the point of playing RS if it's not fun.
To be a long lasting member, think of Dorcha3377.
She does it because she loves us. She loves what we're all about.
You need that. You have to draw your happiness from the happiness of WG.
Nothing can prepare you for it.
You may think you know how it's like, but you don't.
You can only understand once you are in the council.

So when you apply, realize that you may be about to suffer.

Once again, do not take applying for this role lightly.
If the above has not put you off, please fill out the forum below as long as you meet the criteria of:

-Minimum of Elite Guardian.
-More than 4 months since you applied to join WG.

Still not a fan of the whole Elite+ aspect...
But, I will respect your wishes this time; despite my belief that it truely bottlenecks your available candidates.

GL to those applying. I've got enough to deal with irl, so don't want to try for council. Stress is when you aren't allowed to strangle those who deserve it.

Application for Council

1. Have you read and understood the warning?

Yes, this time and many before that.

2. What makes you think you can last a long term in the council?

I believe that my time in the clan speaks for itself. I have no intention of leaving this clan unless I am forced to. I have been here for over two years to date, and I would gladly stay another ten. I feel that I can deal with all the pressure the comes with being a council member. No amount of stress has made me consider actually leaving thus far, and no amount ever shall. I will give this job everything I have.

3. Is there anything coming up in the next 6 months that could make you highly inactive?

Nothing at all, my computer is back and good as new.

4. Why are you applying for council?

I am applying for council because I feel that I can bring life back into the Wilderness Guardians. I have forcible changed myself for the better, and I feel that I can also do that to this clan. WG has given me so much in the two years I have been here, I feel that it is only fair that I return the favor. I wish to right all the wrongs of my past. I feel that this council position will allow me to make this clan a better place.

5. What does WG need most and what will you do as a council member?

* Activity - WG needs us to be active, not simply the members either, this clan needs an active council. To many times have I seen the IRC completely void of operators. This is not saying the the members themselves do not need to show themselves as active. The council must set a good example for those who look up to them. If the council members do not attend events, why should the regular members?
I feel that while I may have more duties as a council member, I will make time in my busy schedule to lead a path of activity through this clan. By attending events myself, I will show the members that the council is not just running things from behind a thick curtain.
This is not just activity in warring. Far to often are there skilling events that can't even be run because of a low turn out. Yes, wars are important, but so are skills. As it stand we are not a 100% warring clan, and I don't believe that we have any intentions to become one. I pledge to do my part in creating, attending, and helping organize a set number of events every week, in addition to my duties as a council member.

* Community - While it may not be the MOST important part of WG, it is still important. Many people joined this clan simply because they heard it had fun events and a wonderful community. Lately, however, too many times are there inappropriate subjects being discussed in the public, and private chat rooms. I will do my part to return this community to the way it was when I first joined this clan two years ago. This includes possibly offering rewards to those who help me in making WG a better place for people to come, hang out, and play Runescape.

* Rules - WG has a clear set of rules that everyone must know, it is a requirement. The enforcement of these rules, however, seems to be a bit lax. I will personally see that those who brake the rules are punished, in a fair and just manner of course.

6. What puts you above other people applying for council?

I have seen WG through some of its best and worst times. I feel that that has prepared me for anything. I also have an iron will, and once I put my mind to something nothing can stop me. While I may have come out of inactivity rather recently, I have done my best to catch up with the times, and prove myself as an active member of WG. I have been in a leadership position before, I know the stress it can bring, and I know how to deal with it. I have a lot of fresh ideas that have never been done in WG before, and I feel that being council would help me in getting them across to the masses. I also have a lot of experience in using the Administrator Control Panel, and I have a huge knowledge of IRC, both scripting and moderating.

7. What is your greatest weakness in terms of being a leader?

My greatest weakness is my bi-polar depression. Sometimes, although none of them recently, I lose control of myself and I get either very angry or very sad. Neither of these sides of me are very pretty, and more times than not I move myself away from the computer until I calm down.

8. Which place are you mainly applying for? (Secondary Warlord OR General Council)

I am applying for the General Council Position.

9. Is there anything else you would like to say?

First of all I would like to wish those running for the position the best of luck, as I feel that all of the applicants thus far would make a great addition to the council.

I would also like to ask all of you to read the applications very carefully, and think about who you are voting for. This is an election, not a popularity contest. Please vote for who you think will do a good job, not your friends.

Also, I would like to add the traditional underbanner, it seems that they come up during every council election

I do.

Application for Council

1. Have you read and understood the warning?

Yes.

2. What makes you think you can last a long term in the council?

I've had various leadership roles during my life and I've learnt and experienced what qualities differ between a leader that lasts and one that doesn't. Obviously there are factors that we can't control that may cause someone not to be able to stay in council however to the best of my abilities I am consistant, loyal, committed and effecient enough to become a long term council member.

3. Is there anything coming up in the next 6 months that could make you highly inactive?

Basically my next 6 months consist of a couple of assignments and tests but nothing that would make me inactive. I have classes pretty much all day Monday-Thursday but I'm on my computer when I get home and frequently on Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

4. Why are you applying for council?

WG is the reason I am still playing Runescape. I enjoy being able to come online whenever I want and hang out with the clan in IRC or Runescape. The atmosphere in the clan is really enjoyable for a gaming community and I think that the clan could benefit from someone like myself being in council at this time.

5. What does WG need most and what will you do as a council member?

WG needs effecienct, active and patient leadership. As a council member I'll work effeciently, continue my current level of activity within the clan, be patient with people and work that is being done. I'll also be open about any ideas I feel would benefit WG whether I've thought of them or members have suggested good ideas that should be considered.

6. What puts you above other people applying for council?

I'm selling myself here, obviously because that's what you do in an application. Hopefully it doesn't come across as big headedness but these are the qualities I think that I possess and that will contribute to me becoming a long term/strong council member.

I believe that the following qualities are what will put me above other appilcants:
  • Punctuality
When work needs to be done I have it done when it's due or before hand. I don't idle or leave it for others to do because from experience in high school and after high school it does not work to be unpunctual.

How this would benefit council: Being an effective worker and team member of council will make sure work is completed promptly which will be for the best interest in WG.

  • Commitment
I'm a commited person. When I set myself a goal or say that I will get something done I do all that I can to ensure that it is done.

How this would benefit council: Being a reliable council team allows for the members of WG to feel comfortable with their leadership and to enjoy the game and clan more.

  • Life experience
I don't mean life experience as in years I mean as experiences during my life that have contributed to who I am. I've had a large variety of experiences during my life so far that have contributed towards my decisions and how I weigh-up consequences on those decisions. Some of these experiences were bad and some were good but they've given myself a good perspective of both sides of the spectrum and I'm a better person for it.

How this would benefit council: Having a large range of experiences allows me to see things as others may see things and puts me on a level of understanding with members.

  • Friendly
I think I'm a friendly person, I show interest in other people and I try to find some common ground to have a chat. If someone needs help Runescape or real life related I'm always willing to give my advice.

How this would benefit council: I'll be able to communicate with members and other staff members without seeming distant or intimidating to talk to.

  • Understanding
This trait ties in with my life experiences which have made me a more understanding and non-judgemental person. I'm prepared to step back and try to interperate something in a way that someone else may have taken diffferently.

How this would benefit council: I'll be able to resolve any situations that may arise fairly without bias and be able to attempt to understand points/opinions that I don't share or understand initially.

  • Peer mediator
I've had training in peer mediation. This is a conflict resolving method and it usually involves both oposing groups/members and 1 or 2 peer mediators who listen to both sides of the story to find out where each group/member has been offended and then work together to find a comprimise.

How this would benefit council: Being able to resolve conflict will be required as a council member. Being able to resolve conflict fairly and without bias will make myself a good conflict removalist.
7. What is your greatest weakness in terms of being a leader?

My greatest weakness in leadership would be that I sometimes fail to take things too seriously.

8. Which place are you mainly applying for?

General council

9. Is there anything else you would like to say?

I'd just like to show how I believe I've met the council personality requirements.
  • Calm
I very rarely lose my temper in the real world and even more so online. I like to consider consequences before becoming irational and often there is really no need to not be calm.
  • Someone that is good at comforting people
I believe that I'm a friendly and approachable person and that I'm capable of helping people when they're in need.
  • Have a quality to boost morale when down
In high school I was a sports captain for two years, during that time the other captain and I would have to find ways to encourage people to participate, boost morale and try to improve the team spirit. My house was the one that always lost so it was good fun just to pretend like it was a serious competiton but also to make sure even though we lost that it was fun.
  • Previous experience of ACP/Mod CP/IRC Commands would be hugely encouraged
I've been an Event leader now for several months and I've gained a wealthy knowledge of both Mod CP and IRC commands. I'm also very good and making colours in my post!
  • Have a Microphone for Teamspeak and is not afraid to speak openly
I have both a microphone and I'm capable of speaking about what I think.
  • Would be open to constructive criticism
    I encourage constructive criticism.
  • Cope under pressure and stress
I'm well adapted to presure and stress and I'm able to continue working through.
  • Would not mind spending 4-5 Hours doing forum work (For example, setting up a training programme and so on)
I'm prepared to spend large amounts of time for the clan work. I already do spend several hours with PS updates and sorting lists.
  • Would know how to settle disputes between 2 or more members
I've had peer mediation training so I believe that I'd be able to cope and fairly work out a comprimise between members.
  • Would ALWAYS reply to EVERY pm or other means of communication from members
I always do reply, I find it really rude not to so I make sure it's done.
10. Do you agree to provide the council with two weeks notice if you wish to resign?

Yes.

I added stuff so you may want to re-read

Application for Council

1. Have you read and understood the warning?

Yes

2. What makes you think you can last a long term in the council?

I know i'm not going anywhere. The challenges ahead are something that I really am looking forward to overcoming. If someone needs to sacrifice their time to ensure an enjoyable experience for the members, I will be it. I have already been in WG for around 1.5 years, and don't see an end. School work has not been a problem, I have always been on the forums and IRC several hours on weekdays, and always on weekends.

I have already held a form of leadership in WG, and preformed to the best of my abilities. Sometimes the workload ranged from one hour to three, and whatever it was I finished effectively.

3. Is there anything coming up in the next 6 months that could make you highly inactive?

Nope

4. Why are you applying for council?

I am appying for council because I know I can lead WG towards the right direction. The clan is not perfect, and although I cannot make it perfect, I promise to get as close as I can. I like helping people, and always have. I get the most satisfaction from helping others. This job is not to be taken lightly, and i'm ready to step up and give it my all. I can only prove so much of myself as a member, and being council will open up so many doors for me. Council isn't something that you can "try" and realize it's not for you.. it IS for me.

5. What does WG need most and what will you do as a council member?

Activity
One of the main issues that I will cover if elected into council is activity.
I have always been annoyed when it comes to this. With a member list of over eighty members, don’t you think at least fifteen could show up to an event? Sometimes the mark barely hits ten. So, this being said, I have devised a plan hoping for an increase of activity. Also note, this is not just me making events, but giving ideas to event leaders to make.

-Teamspeak based events. Not wars or wilderness based. Events where members lead teams, using nothing but their voice, bringing people out of their shells and making new friendships. (Optional, of course).

-Event votes. Monthly, possibly even weekly. I want to know what the members want. If they do what they enjoy, activity will rise, and turnouts will increase.

-More allied events. Everything is fun with more people, especially with monkeys and hawt British accents. Strengthening bonds between clans is very important.

-After event polls. After an event is over, a poll shall be placed on the recap. Members will then vote 1-5 on the fun scale. This will help determine if the event was a success for failure, while being completely anonymous.

Warring
It has come to my attention that some people despise of warring. Warring is not always there for fun, but to show domination over other clans. The more we practice, the better our domination will be, and the more fun you will have, guaranteed. Practice makes perfect. That is why I have come up with this idea of the WG Warring Academy, which I already alerted level 3 about my plan.

-War Practices. Set practice times once per time zone, depending on the raid leader. Each practice will count as an event, as long as you complete the course. The course will be determined by the raid leader, including things such as binding, tanking, pile switching, anti-snipe (and sniping for snipers), and free sessions.

-Extra help. War training will be targeted on members individually than the clan as a whole. Let’s face it, some people are better than others at warring. If we analyze each member individually, it will make the clan stronger as a whole.

-Training. I believe training is key to warring success. I want to introduce something called the “Pre-War Level.” What this will be is assuming that an official war is posted a week in head of time, everyone who gains a level in either attack, strength, defense, hp, or 3 prayer levels gains an attendance point. This will be a quick yet affective training incentive.

Recruitment
I hope to draft a new kind of recruitment method, as well as rewarding members who recruit their own friends. Recruitment has been not so great ever since our recruitment video has been stopped; therefore we need something to be done.
My plans include using different forums, recruitment chiefs, new material, and monthly recruitment charts (already did those while Application Manager).

Clan Rules
Personally, I feel the rules in WG need to be set in stone and be a bit more enforced. The amount of rants against people’s behavior has been noticed. I feel the rules for IRC, Teamspeak, and Forums (and signatures) need to be enhanced. Don’t think this is a blow against fun, because that’s the last thing I want to do.

Timezone
I live in the EST timezone. There have been several complaints about having no council active in the time when I am.

Application Process
So much unnecessary work, for the applicants and the council. Some questions need to be worked on and put into more depth. Ten word answers on questions as seen on some applications is unacceptable, and I am going to put my foot down here. We don't want to accept people who put no effort into their application, because that will foreshadow what is to come of them. It reflects who you are. WG is the best and only accepts the best.

Clan Pride
Last but not least, clan pride. I want the members of WG to proudly know what they’re a part of. Not just a member of a clan… a guardian of the wilderness. WG needs a huge boost to its current reputation, whether it’s done by Runescape Community, public/clan world events, cool videos, whatever! This will be my biggest goal, and I will stop at nothing until it’s done.

6. What puts you above other people applying for council?

I am more qualified than other people for this position because I have more that motivates me than just a rank. There is nothing I want more than to have WG rise on top once again. I’m willing to put in everything in my power to do so. Motivation is clutch, and to help me out I have some character traits that I feel are unique.

-Determination. I have a purpose. I will not stop until what has to be done is done.

-Creativity. Growing up, I would always take the wild path instead of the boring one. Always try new things and learn and apply. I will always find some kind of interesting way to make sure everyone has fun.

-Activity. I am definitely one of the more active members of WG, I go to every event in my power and play runescape constantly. I’m always checking the forums and most of the time in IRC. You have my early mornings and my late nights.

-Attitude. Calm, cool, and collective. I never lose my temper. I try my best not to get mad at people and situations, so you can always expect a kind answer from me.

-Clan Knowledge. Leading – no sweat. I’ve been to a fair share of clans, primarily those in the top 10. The memories of how big clans function are still floating around in there.

-Moderating. I am extremely familiar with forum ACP and IRC moderating, don't even worry about that.

-Experience. Maybe not the longest, but I have been in WG a long time. Through the thick and the thin, I have seen some great and some ok councils. Be assured that notes to self have been taken.

7. What is your greatest weakness in terms of being a leader?

Well, a big part of being a leader is knowing your weaknesses, and constantly working on them to improve.

My greatest weakness in terms of being a leader would have to be punishment. Have you ever seen me mad at someone? It's hard for me. I rarely ever snap at people. Handing out punishments is something I would hate to do because i'm too nice of a person.

My other weakness is my vocabulary. I'll admit, I can't always express what i'm feeling the best at times, and some people can do it very well. I still think I get better every day and have proven so!

8. Which place are you mainly applying for? (Secondary Warlord OR General Council)

General Council

9. Is there anything else you would like to say?

Think about it - think about who you're voting for and why. Know what you want to seen be changed and who will change it for you. Know that council takes more than a talkative personality or a good real life appearance, it takes the right balance of booksmarts and streetsmarts. Hopefully your decision will be the right one.

Goodluck to everyone else applying. No matter who wins, nothing will seperate the friendships that were made before this election.

10. Do you agree to provide the council with two weeks’ notice if you wish to resign?

Yes

Thank you Garrett and Dallar.

is the day you have stopped leading them.

Either case is a failure of leadership.”
