Here goes my application smile.gif

Application for Council

1) Have you read and understood the warning?

Yes smile.gif

2) What makes you think you can last a long term in the council?

Council to me isn't just a place of power: A shiny Op on the IRC Channel, an Orange name, ACP. No, It's a place of epic responsibility in which you have many many REAL people depending on you. I believe I could last a long time as Council because I have the ability to recieve feedback and work WITH people to achieve both their and my goals. I believe that my natural leadership capabilitys make me able to take on the huge task which is the Wilderness Guardians Council position.

3) Is there anything coming up in the next 6 months that could make you highly inactive?

There's nothing in my future that will make me HIGHLY inactive. Truthfully though, there will be a week or two in January 09 where I will be taking my GCSE mock exams, and so will be under stress (and as a result be relatively inactive. I'm sure this will also be the same for Dale)

4) Why are you applying for council?

I'm applying for Council for a variety of reasons. The main reason is because I genuinely believe I can help not just WG, but also the members of WG. I believe I can be a person which people can confide in, and easily talk to when in need. I'm capable of being relaxed, having a laugh (as I think a lot of you know smile2.gif, but I'm also very much capable of acting with the highest level of maturity when dealing with situations which require such treatment. I believe that with me helping influence decisions in the clan, I can make it an even better place for members than it already is.

As it stands, i see many opportunities coming up for WG in which we could really make a serious name for ourselves. I'd really like to be a part of the improvements that we make during this time, and help us ensure we do indeed use the upcoming opportunities to make a name for us. I explain this more in the next question in regard to the upcoming PvP Worlds.

Also, I can see a few problems in WG, some minor, some slightly more important, that really do need to be addressed as soon as possible. I explain these issues i'd mainly like to change in the following question.

5) What does WG need most and what will you do as a council member?

If elected, I intend on doing my best to improve/do the following things (For clarity, I have colour coded these points):

- PvP Worlds
- Recruitment
- Emeritus
- Specific Event Activity

~ PvP Worlds - With the upcoming PvP Worlds, I really do feel that we need to be as prepaired as possible. The Wilderness Guardians were designed to do just that, Guard the people of the wilderness. When the wilderness was removed by Jagex, we, in a sense, became obselete. Don't get be wrong, we weren't a dead clan as a result of it, our community has obviously continued to flourish and we kept doing pretty well at CWA and the skilling aspect of WG. However, as I think Elias said, these PvP worlds could be our ticket back into Fame, and Fame is exactly where I hope to take us. PvP worlds will mark the begining of a new era in WG in my opinion, just as the end of the wilderness was the end of an older era. This could bring back the flare that WG knew and loved.

-

~ Recruitment - Recruitment has been a concern for me over the past month or so. I believe that we strongly require to head in a new direction as far as recruitment is concerned. As it stands, we get about 4 - 6 introductions per week. That, in my opinion, is too few to offer full support for a clan as strong as this one. I'm not saying we should mass recruit, because in my opinion that never works out well (Results in the influx of bad members and so a deteriorating community (leading to a slump)). Instead, I believe we should try to get our name out a lot more. I personally would love new people to get to know and add to our already great community.

EDIT: Post PvP, Having experienced a few Raids now, I emphasise my standpoint on recruitment even more. I really feel we need a new structured recruitment method, including an ACTIVELY BUMPED RSC Post, and a template for people to use when seeing people looking for a clan.

-

~ Emeritus - Emeritus in my opinion is a fairly flawed rank. As far as I'm aware, the rank of Emeritus, although not being in the active sector of a clan, does require presence at major wars/PKRIs that are advertised well in advanced. For the PKRI we had against MoD, we had 19 of our 44 Emeritus sign up. That, in my opinion is not good enough for our Emeritus sector. There are some Emeritus who I've never even heard of, and never seen on IRC or at wars in all of my time here. It needs to be re-thought, and I intend on doing my best as far as this is concerned.

-

~ Specific Event Activity - The events at the moment are either General Events or Wilderness Events. Obviously, people have their preferences. In fact, some people despise (for example) going to Wilderness Events, and only enjoy General Events. To be honest, I think this needs to be respected a little more. I'm not saying it's fine for people who are online to completely skip important wars, but I do believe that their opinions should be respected, rather than shut down. Ways need to be devised to make these members find interest in wars, finding new ways of doing them possibly. I don’t believe on forcing things upon anyone, but I don’t believe that we should give up on having lots of members at wars either. We need to find a way to get as many people helping to represent their clan as possible, in a way that gives them pleasure also.

-

I obviously have a lot more smaller plans, but i’ll stick to the main ones in this post, so as to not bore you all.

6) What puts you above other people applying for council?

I believe that I have been a leader all of my life, both on RuneScape and in real life (Yes i know Council isn’t leader, but i mean it’s a position of leadership).

Real-Life wise, I’ve never gone a year without being a captain of a sports team (Football, Rugby, or Cricket). I was never the BEST player in the squads, but I was easily in possesion of the best leadership skills, and those experiences have only helped me to improve also. I was also our Sports Captain in my final year at my last school.

Runescape-wise, in my last clan, I was, for the majority of my time in a position of responsibility. I rose quickly through the ranks, ending up as High Council (Equivilent of council here) for over 8 months to then go on to become the Leader of the clan for an equally long period. There I also learned a heck of a lot as far as clan leadership goes. I genuinely believe that I am very capable of taking on the role of Council here.

7) What is your greatest weakness in terms of being a leader?

If I have any weaknesses at all as far as leadership is concerned, it’s when I see people blatantly disrespecting eachother, especially when it’s more than one person teaming up on another. I will often get pretty angry at this, and take possibly (in some people’s eyes) harsh action. Fortunately, I have never seen anything of the like in WG (at least over IRC (NEVER ever booted someone from #wg biggrin.gif My li'l record smile.gif )).

8) Which place are you mainly applying for? (Secondary Warlord OR General Council)

I swear it said in the main post the slot open was only for General Council? As a result, I'm applying for General Council smile.gif

9) Is there anything else you would like to say?

I’d just like to say that if anyone has any questions at all about any of my plans in the future, or ways in which I hope to improve WG, please do PM me on IRC or over the site. I really will do my best to answer your questions as best as I can smile.gif. I'd also like to wish everyone applying for the position the very best of luck. May the best man win, for the good of us all smile.gif

10) Do you agree to provide the council with two weeks’ notice if you wish to resign?

I do indeed smile.gif

Application for Council.

I am an elite guardian again and RS active, I play RS every day and am working on my goals.

1. Have you read and understood the warning.

Yes I have read and fully understand the warning, I have been council before so I understand the stress and responsibilities that go with the position.

2. What makes you think you can last for a long term in the council?

In the past I was council for over 6 months each time. The conditions / situations that allowed me to step down are no longer applicable.
I have no job at present and have extended time to devote to WG.
I understand the basic needs of this clan and hope to help us grow and flourish.
I have a lot of stability in my life right now with free time to help out where I am needed.

3. Why are you applying for Council.

I am applying because my heart tells me this is what I need to do. We need a softer side to help us out. Ever since I have been in WG I have always wanted to have all the time in the world to help out here whether in irc. TS, training skilling, raids etc.
I have that time now and ask you let me give it to WG.
I have nothing to keep me inactive. I enjoy playing RS and the goals I have
keep me busy and active. I want to give to WG please let me.

I also feel it would good to have someone in leadership who knows what
leadership is about.
It is not something I want to "try". I have done this before and now I have a new energy and excitement to make this a better place.

4. What does WG need most and what will you do as a council member.

Activity:
Wg most needs someone to represent EST. All the other time zones are pretty well active with council
We desperately need active leadership who plays RS to there when needed.
I can be that person. There are too many times we have needed someone and there is no one around.

Community Events.

As a clan we need to pull together and blend our members into a group that are strong in their friendships to make us stronger in the clan community.
We need to have more public events to get our name out there.
We can do this through all types of events.

Recruitment is a must. We have to get life back into Wg.
I know the new updates of PvP worlds will boost our members. People want to have fun with others. We can accomplish more together that we can alone.
We have to show the world what we are about. We must be willing to take our message out more strongly than ever.
We need to focus on making our alliances strong and stand up for what we believe in.

Teamspeak nights:
I would love to have an active TS, it is a must for better communicaton and just plain fun.
Whether is singing or joke night.

Suggestion/Rant Forum.

I feel we should have a council member responsible for reading and ACTing on the forum. Tell our members what we can do to make them happy.
Talk to the members posting them and help to solve the problem to prevent drama.

IRC:
We need to be more responsive to the rules that have been set forth on irc usage.
We need to make sure the rules are being adhered to fairly.

There are many fine ways we have to express ourselves and we truly have something for everyone to take part in.
I feel that members who want to help our should be given a chance to show what they can do for our clan.

Promotions:
I think we need a system of applying for higher positions in the clan.
The currents system confuses people. Perhaps a monthly promotion.

5. What puts you above the other people applying for council.

I am not "above" anyone, I am who I am. I have spoken from my heart and the hopes I hold there for our future.
I am different from others in the fact that I have done this before so I do have more experience.
I am older so I bring maturity and a woman's touch to the council. I am fairmineded and I love to help out when someone needs me.

6. what is your greatest weakness in being a leader?

I do have a temper and when I get angry I tend to tell it like I see it.
I am willing though to talk over any problems without it getting out of hand and leading to drama.
I honestly believe if we try we can cut down on the drama and focus on the fun, we can be the tops in the RS clan scene.

7. Which place are you applying for?

General Council

8.Is there anything you would like to say?

I really want to do this for WG, you are my home and I feel I need to do this because of the love I have in my heart for you all.

Whoever is elected we have to stand behind them with support.

9. Do you agree to provide the Council with a two week notice if you wish to resign?

Yes

Application for Council

1. Have you read and understood the warning?

Yes i have read and understood the warning.

2. What makes you think you can last a long term in the council?

I believe that i can last long term in WG council because I realize that every member of this clan is more then another 3 opts it is the person behind the player that counts and I will do my best to make sure that every1 in WG has a enjoyable time here with us.

3. Is there anything coming up in the next 6 months that could make you highly inactive?

No

4. Why are you applying for council?

I am applying for WG council as i have always worked hard to do what I felt was best for the clan. I have always tried my hardest to help out my fellow guardians with there goals and congratulate them on there achievements and i feel this position would enable me to further assist in the running of the clan and the future of WG. It is also the reason for which i have carried on playing RS i have a lot of fun here and some good friends and i could never consider leaving after being here for so long it does not feel that it is an option.

5. What does WG need most and what will you do as a council member?

This are the things i believe that WG needs most and what i plan to do if i am elected a council member.
  • Active Leadership : I believe we need a strong active leadership whom are not just doing there forums work but also active in the IRC and in game helping out our members.
  • Active members : We need every member to be active and to contribute to the clan there ideas and suggestions on how we can improve the clan as sometimes they may have the best ideas. We also need them to attend events so it looks like we are active and can get our name up on RSC as a good Pking clan.
  • Community : We need to make our community as friendly as possibly especially in the IRC we want new members and possible future members who join the lobby to feel welcomed and at home. This is so that they can fit in better in our community and try to keep everybody happy. I believe that if we can stop or have less drama it would help us very much. We are a clan like a family and in these harder times we need to pull together and help each other in order to improve.
  • Warring: Ok i know that not everyone in the clan does love to war like myself and i can understand and respect that and I think that everyone should have this view. We cannot force them to war only encourage them. So if you see someone who does not normally war and is doing well then do compliment them on this.
  • More compliments : I know many people go overlooked and i think we should have more compliments for those who have tried hard to stand out over the past month or so and reward them. Such as additional awards to member of the month, such as that could be for say the most improved, activity, the best trainer etc. I believe that the members and leaderships hard work should not be overlooked.
  • Clan Honor : I think that every single member should be proud to be a Guardian in that when asked who we are we should be proud to say we are WG and not hide our name or be stupid. We also need to work on boosting our reputation in the eyes of the clan community. We really need to get our name out there in RSC and such a good way could be a new video etc maybe even a silly video like the TBE recruitment one. I think this is has to be one of the main focuses of the council.
6. What puts you above other people applying for council?

There is a few reasons why I may be seen as above the others whom are applying for council:
  • Long term commitment to WG i have been in the clan for nearly 3 years so i know everyone in the clan well.
  • Since i have been in WG a very long time i have seen us in our best form such as the summer of 06 when we was number 1 P2P multi clan and our worst form after D day, I have stuck it through with the clan throughout all these times and I know what has been done to help us improve.
  • Doing work when i get it so i know that the job is done as in previous experience i have learned it does not pay to leave it all to the last minute.
  • I am friendly and know most people in the clan on a personal level.
  • Understanding of what people are going for. Example being i have been harassed before in the clan. So i know what to do in these situations.
  • My Activity is very good i only do a 3 day week at college this means i have a lot of free time which i am able to dedicate to the clan.

7. What is your greatest weakness in terms of being a leader?
  • I have a temper and do flame when i get angry.
  • I do tend to hold grudges.
  • I also tend not to take everything seriously

8. Is there anything else you would like to say?

I would like to say that i believe WG is a truly great clan of which there is no other like it in the clan world. I also believe if we can put our differences aside and work together then we can achieve a lot more as a clan and go far leading to us being 1 of the best clans in Runescape again. Id just like to see out my last year or so as WG as a good 1 before I may have to go inactive possibly for University and I would like to spend this time helping out as best i can and giving WG 1 big last boost to show its full potential once again.

9. Do you agree to provide the council with two weeks’ notice if you wish to resign?

Yes

GEORGE BACK GEORGE BACK.

Application for Council

1. Have you read and understood the warning?

With all my heart yes.

2. What makes you think you can last a long term in the council?

I have experience and I know all about the rank.
I have witnessed the jobs of all of the council members and I have seen the difficulties that they face day by day and I think that I could be a great support to the existing council and staff members, as well as the current and future members of WG.
I can keep my cool and I have a lot of great ideas and as a person I am naturally very imaginative and I think that that quality is good in a council member.

3. Is there anything coming up in the next 6 months that could make you highly inactive?

Not at all (except from the first week of december Sunday-->Saturday)

4. Why are you applying for council?

I have experience leading other clans - I rarely speak of this now but I made a clan with the help of some friends around 3 years ago and that prospered, had its downsides, prospered again, worked up to 70 members, good clan, extremely active, fun events, ownage members. I remember the stress and the hard work I had to put in to get that clan going and I would never trade in that experience for anything, since I enjoyed it so much.

I am a "people-person", sure I have arguments occassionally, we all do. But I listen to the members and act upon their advice, suggestions. If someone pms me a suggestion I will take it into consideration and act upon it

5. What does WG need most and what will you do as a council member?

WG needs people who can pull the clan through bad times and who have the ability to support the clan in everything that it does.
I feel that I am a person who will be able to do this.

- Find a way to increase the level of training of Pro Silentium- so we can all train better and gain more levels and destroy our future war targets
- Host steel/iron wars- with allies and interclan as well- people dress up in steel and then fight each other basically, but they often die quickly owing to full steel.
- Encourage more members to host events as well as Event Leaders as well as continously work with the members to create fun , never hosted before events.

6. What puts you above other people applying for council?

I have been a skills leader since September 2007 after joining in July 2007. I have experience in leading clans before, some of you may remember my application, where I explained all about the clan Betrayed Phoenix which I founded, built and led for a year and a half.

I am also very active. Attending events is hard for me during the week, however I am always on the forums, I generally have 1-2 hours every day to do WG related stuff.
Whether that be forum work, rs events etc.

I am responsible. I have done many jobs for the past council over the years and for lordy, most recently being compiling the RS event pictures from May + June events and then sending them to Elias to reduce his workload.

I enjoy everything I do in WG, everything down to the menial tasks such as updating attendance biggrin.gif

7. What is your greatest weakness in terms of being a leader?

I do lose my temper sometimes. As humans we all do. But I am getting a lot better at not expressing my anger to people so that they get upset. If something does upset me I generally leave the IRC and go to confide in some old friend who will listen to me.

8. Is there anything else you would like to say?

This is the third time I have applied for council, the last two times I narrowly lost the elections and I think perhaps that was a good thing that I didn't get council the last time.
I was less experienced than I am now and I think now I am ready to devote a lot more time to WG.
I have the time to work for my rank if I am elected and I assure you I will not let you down.

9. Do you agree to provide the council with two weeks notice if you wish to resign?

Of course I do. Yes.

Good luck to whoever else decides to stand wub.gif
