I think I'll prolly go to the theaters to see this one instead of waiting for a crappy version on the internet to come out.

I heard there is a shitty version for the movie already out. I definitely recommend watching it in theater though.

I warn you, there is a sex scene. And when you get to it, listen to the music and discuss it with me. hash.png

I saw it last night, however, and I enjoyed it immensely.

I saw it again today; I think twice is enough but if I find out some friends are going sometime I'd go see it again (first movie since LotR I've seen more than once in theaters, lol). Nice record to break.

Anyway, I paid special attention to the MUSIC during the sex scene this time, and LOL'D. happy.gif But then again, Dan/Night Owl is a bit of an unromantic nerd. If I had sex with Jupiter, I'd probably be singing Hallelujah! too. ohmy.gif

I think this is a great, short review I've read on the movie, from VG Cats no less:
QUOTE
So Watchmen was awesome, so awesome. It is missing a lot of the narrative of the comic but it's a really long comic. So you have to cut it some slack. Even at 3 hours long there's no way you're fitting it in there.

What you do have is every scene you loved faithfully receated and true to the source material. A word of warning though if you've never read the book. This film really is a companion to the comic and if you're unfamiliar, you won't appreciate it near as much. So please do give it a read. For everyone else, GO SEE IT.
Calling Watchmen a porno is just plain wrong in so many ways. There's ONE explicit sex scene, not unlike the one in 300. Besides that there's two implicit bed scenes and one attempted rape in a flashback that is VERY important to the plot (and two of those last three are in flashbacks, while the other bed scenes is just plain funny IMO).

I've read the book, so I'm coming at the movie from an entirely different angle from those who haven't. And I can tell you they did a fantastic, fantastic job translating the original work. Alan Moore used superheroes to critique American society, and from Rorschach to Ozymandias to Dr. Manhattan Zach Snyder brought them to the screen faultlessly. This is a quintessential story about human beings, not adolescent comic caped crusaders.

EMPHASIS: SPIDER MAN AND THE GREEN GOBLIN HAVE NO PLACE IN ALAN MOORE'S UNIVERSE.

Watchmen isn't 300. That was just a hack and slash menagerie of heroic violence, not a representation of the human condition and it required no conscious thought to enjoy, while Watchmen has a message that's subtler but much more intense than V for Vendetta. The sex was tasteful and artistic from my point of view, although more of my attention was taken by Rorschach; he kicks ass wherever he goes, that's just a fact of nature. evilneko.gif

PS: If anyone is concerned about the explicit sexual content, here's a link to the ScreenIt review.

Seen the trailer a while back when I went to see a film at the cinema. It looks epic. Should I stream it or go for the real thing at the movies?

I saw it Friday with some friends after we got done Kareokeeing. I have read some of the comics, but the movie just didn't do it for me. Perhaps I am old fashioned, but there was just to much filler that took away from having any sense of where this movie was going. That coupled with random blue penises and a very awkward sex scene left my friends and I leaving during the middle of the movie.

I understand that it was a very different kind of story than your average comic-based movie. However, I just felt robbed of both my time and money due to the movie making me feel that the plot wasn't going anywhere.

I don't know now whether to see it or not. I mean 3 hours of blue pns was sounding funny, but if people left during sex scene. I usually stick to pg13 stuff. I don't mind a tasteful sexy scene.

Watchmen was amazing. Those of you who go and haven't read the book are really missing out on how well they actually did the movie.. everything looked EXACTLY like the novel, I'm so glad they worked so hard on it. Only thing I was a bit disappointed with was how they brought the Newsstand at the very end, in the novel it was brought up quite a bit and played a good role in the story, but in the movie they just randomly sprung it at the end before IT happens, which was a bit odd.. but otherwise, I loved it.

Watchmen was awesome, but I never read the book so I dunno. hash.png

TBH when you think about it, Movies corrupt Books, but Books also corrupt Movies. A Book is ALWAYS more in depth with more awesome content than a Movie, so if you read the book first you won't enjoy the movie as much, but if you watch the movie first then you'll REALLY enjoy the book when you read it later.

Books should come after movies IMO.
