Seriously Runescape was alright until they started adding random crap to it to appease the child audience they so inventively seek to build. F2P skills were perfect as they were, and they actually made sense. It was like a medieval lifestyle even, having to mine, smith, shop wood, fish, and cook to survive. P2P also worked, allowing some more in depth skills like potion making, thievery, etc. Then they started adding crap like farming, construction(still the ONLY fun part of this game IMO, but it really doesn't fit with the rest of it, they just did it to copy other games), summoning, hunter, etc. These skills COULD have made sense and fit in well with the game, but runescape decided to shift from a lifestyle rpg to a minigame filled piece of crap that was easy for people to understand, regardless of how poorly it worked. They continued to ruin it by watering down gameplay to the point that you couldn't make decisions for yourself, it was all done for you. You can borrow peoples skills to do your work for you, you can't make up your own free market prices anymore, you can't even rip people off I mean wtf?! They ruined their own game just to avoid parents telling their kids they couldn't play because they got scammed, or because it seemed to violent. It's all about getting new people in at a young age so they will get addicted to it, regardless of how bad it has become because they will never know how good it was/could have been, and send all their money to play. Same thing happened to Halo, it went to the kiddies.

tl;dr:
SCREW CHILDREN. GO PLAY DORA THE EXPLORER OR SOME CRAP.

also you know this to be true, you can't argue the fact that this is EXACTLY what happened. You all just settled for a substandard game and you know it. Runescape could have been great.

On that note... they should make the chats bigger, so that people can actually speak without being forced to resort to slang in order to make their sentences fit. In Fiesta, the game I spent quite some time playing, that's what it was, and it was GREAT. Some little kiddies tried to use slang, but everyone else in the community would rip on them, until they spoke properly. No censor was needed for the first year I was there, because no one swore. It was great.

.... I like having my own personal house... it's really useful.

The thousands of mini games is a bad idea.

The amount in a trade is a good idea, so that people know the price - let em get ripped off if they want.

On the trading stuff though, JaGeX claims they almost went bankrupt due to RWT, and credit card fraud, so they had to do it as a company to survive. I still think there should be a way to trade items though in an unbalanced way, seeing as my friend owes me a santa >_> (or 20M, as I'm charging him)

They lied lol. They weren't anywhere NEAR bankrupt. If they were they wouldn't have possibly been able to unload as many updates as they did in such a short amount of time.

I imagine Jagex was put under pressure from RWT from a legal perspective; it was a way to shift net wealth to practically anyone anywhere in the world without being traced. Just a hypothesis. happy.gif

They should just add something in the terms and conditions that you have to agree to that says they are not responsible for stolen credit cards. Problem Solved.

No the main problem that occured with credit cards was the fact that the credit card companies told Jagex that if they did nothing about all of the stolen credit cards which were used they would stop servicing transactions for their games. Since credit cards are one of the mainly used subscription ways it would make sense that when under such pressure they had to fold.

Agreed with most of what you said however. (Note: Farming and Hunter would fit in just as well as for example mining and smithing would.)

JaGeX fails.

So does runescape..
Why do you think i basically quit?

About 2 years ago, I was ranked like I think 65k..

Now I'm 230k wtF??

I went from 225k to 230k in one day.

Thats stupid. I'm not goingto waste all my life to keep my rank up.

RS FAILED 6/2/2007
