1. Tell us about your RS history, and also about your account (e.g. how you came to name it how it is named, what you like to do etc) :

I started playing Runescape just as the Easter '05 event was wrapping up. A friend of mine from a past Delta Force 2 clan started showing me pictures of his new Dragon Scimitar and got me curious about the game. So, I made an account a couple weeks later when I was home over spring break with a very nasty case of food poisoning. I was such a noob I couldn't figure out where people were getting those little rubber whacker things, so I don't have that holiday item.

Another friend of mine from a past DF2 clan also played and invited me to join his Runescape Clan once I told him I decided to give the game a shot. The clan was called Liquid Fire. It was here I met a few people and got pointed in the right direction for how the game worked. Once someone told me about Rune HQ, I read everything about an aspect of the game I wanted to try next.

Around this time, I had been playing the game for about two months and the clan had changed characteristics in membership. I decided I should leave since the core members I became friends with had moved on. I believe this was when I joined The Slayer's Lair. I thought about joining Rune HQ's clan, but it was far too large for my tastes, so I decided to join one of their allies. This is where I met Gorgemaster ( I think, I can't find the Runehead rankings that use to be there to confirm. I might have been in one other clan for a short time here.). A few months later, I the clan for some reason I can't remember. I think it might have began to fizzle out in activity.

During this time, it is around the time I started college and met a few people there who played Runescape. I started pursuing a drive for 76 fishing and finishing up my goal to be able to make the range armor I wear. This meant getting my crafting to make full dragon hide. I also found a good trade in buying ranarr and snapdragon seeds direct from players in seers and then farming them to sell prayer and super restores to Pkers. I do believe I made a good 6-8m profit per 100 seeds. This lead to funding my crafting and first ever robin set.

Around Christmas of '05 I decided to go on a good month push for completing all of the quests. I had all but 6 left towards the end of the first week of Christmas break. It was then that my Alienware laptop felt the need to overheat and fill my room with smoke. So, over the course of the next month I spent time on the family's '97 desktop. Knowing that I could lose connection at anytime, I decided to get the smithing requirement for Devious Minds (I think). To do this I made a solid profit of buying iron ore and coal to make iron darts. This turned out to be the most profitable and resulting in me being able to purchase my first whip once I finished all 80k of them for the smithing level I wanted.

The following months I found a great passion for Castle Wars. I spent a good amount of time there and made a number of interesting observations about the flaws in the Runescape combat system based on a single skill level. This was when I finally stopped leveling my att, str, and def together and instead went by 5's to negate most of the flaw. Having hit all 81's and realizing that I now could not play CW again unless I wanted to be killed quickly, I decided I would instead try back at joining a clan.

Having used the Runescape forums heavily to sell my potions, I took a look at the clan area and found an interesting community. It was here I joined my last clan, Myriad (using the same general requirements that Kingrandy0 replied with). This clan was led by Shrimperson who had recently left the Crimson Hunters. I quickly fell in love with the whole concept of this clan. It was the first I was in since I left leading one of the top clans for Delta Force 2 to solely play Runescape where the leadership was so strategically placed for maximum managing of the clan. The atmosphere was also very laid back, but mature. It was then I realized I wanted to stay in mature community clans.

I became heavily involved with Myriad and started recruiting many members from the RSB to them. Having led a number of successful clans before on different games, I knew that quality had to come first in choosing members. If not, the clan would fall apart. It worked, I pulled in over 80% of the new members who joined and the clan grew to a very active 40+ members in a month. In this time, we had a number of awesome events a couple fun wars.

However, shortly around having been in the clan for two months, I got to experience what I would soon find out months after I left, was a bit of clan drama where the founder started creating problems with members who they felt threatened their power. Sadly, I was one of them and I decided to leave. When I found out why I had been pushed out months later by one of the council members who also left shortly after me, it was because they wanted me to join the council due to my dedication to the clan.

I still hung around the Runescape forums talking and making friends with the Crimson Hunters. This was what led to me returning to the clan forums after I became a Forum Moderator in January of '07. Having seen that the RSB clans were not going to progress if they did not finally get some support both in stopping the bickering amongst themselves and also from Jagex, I spent up until September of '08 moderating the clan forums and getting a lot of behind the scenes things past so that clans would finally get needed attention.

2. Tell us more about yourself (Your age, where you are from, gender, Hobbies, Music, What you dislike/like):

If you can see straight after having read my previous answer, my name is Matthew and am from Georgia in the United States. I recently started my own business late last year and have been focusing on it and finishing up my bachelor degree. It is in one of my passions, graphic and website design.

I enjoy helping people reach their goals. I guess that is what led to me remaining an FMOD for over a year and a half and now starting the business I run. I enjoy sitting down with people, hearing their goals and issues and then working with them to find the best solution to achieve it.

I enjoy all kinds of music, but not so much country or rap with cursing. I am a pretty easy person to get along with so there are not many things that I don't like. Some of my peeves include rude people who talk in movies, people who chew food with their mouth open or smack their lips, and those people who don't honor their word.

3. How did you hear about WG and what makes you want to join the clan:

I actually ran across WG several times in discussions while I was a clan moderator. Then again last year when I believe Gorgemaster wanted me to change something on a signature I had made for him. The most recent, aside from Kingrandy0 popping into my thread, would be someone showing me your website and using it as an example as to what he would like his clan site to look like. Not being a big fan of all flash-based websites, I turned him in a different direction, but it is an interesting concept.

I am strongly considering the Wilderness Guardians as a Runescape family because I want something to make the game fun again. When I need a break from school or work, I would like to be able to log in to the game and attend a fun event or chat with people without the game feeling like more work due to leveling skills.

4. Are there any current WG members who you already know:

I know Gorgemaster.

5. Any additional comments:

The only main concern I have would be the event times. Since I am not able to see a sample list of when regular events are usually held, I am hoping that I can make the one event required per week as I can only guarantee it if a number of them are at 7:30PM+ EST, ideally at 8PM.

In addition, the conditional requirement of TS might be an issue for me right now. I do not currently live where I can sit and talk over a mic for long periods of time. Later this year, it might be different when I move, but right now it would pose a problem if I need to be in it.

Very nice introduction! I love getting a full history from people rather than the short and sweet posts.

The requirement of TS is only used for wars, so you would not have to sit and talk, unless you really wanted to in your spare time. With the wars, you would log in to TS and just listen to what the raid leaders/warlord has to say when it comes to who to pile or what to do. Hopefully that makes it where it is not a problem.

With events, we have varying events occuring at many different times to be able to cater to EST, GMT, and AEST, so hopefully you will be able to make at least one of those events per week.

Best of luck with your application process if you do decide to join!
If you have any questions feel free to PM me in IRC or in-game if I am on.

MATTHEW MATTHEW MATTHEW!!!!
Omg hii!, Long time no speak, i've missed talking to you, glad to hear that you are ok, starting your own business wow, very impressive.
You mention that you are looking for a family, a place to have fun after a hard day of business- this is WG in a nutshell. I am nearing my two year anniversary here and there have rarely been times when I feel like I should move on.
WG is the place for you!

A great intro, almost as long as mine back in June 2007 biggrin.gif (I included two pictures, beat that! wub.gif)

Well good luck with applying, if you need anything then give me a call!

Thank you everyone for your warm replies.

Okay, if TS is only used to hear commands during wars I can probably do that without much issue.

Two pictures George? You definitely outclass me lol. We will have to catch up.

You don't need to speak on TS just listen so if you have headphones you can avoid people eavesdropping it if sound level is also an issue.
