In light of recent attention to the weekly penguin hunting event, I've decided to make a guide to help streamline the experience for people who need a bit of help. It's going to take me some time to make it pretty, so take it as you will.

Introduction
Penguin hunting is an activity in which a player finds incognito penguins in exchange for penguin points, which can then be exchanged for experience points or coins. It resets weekly on Wednesdays at 0:00 GMT. To be able to hunt for penguins, first talk to Larry in the Ardougne zoo. You will only have to do this the first time you search for penguins.

Locating Penguins
To start, hop to world 60 and join a penguin hunting clan chat. In order to find the most current clan chat and it's alternates, check the Distractions and Diversions section on the Runescape forums here. The topic containing the clan chat(s) should also include approximate areas where the penguins should be, which come in handy if you're looking for a penguin that no one can find the location of.

At the time of this guide, popular clan chats included "World60pengs", "W60 Penguins", "Pengies W60", and so forth. If you're at your wits' end, you can always ask someone who looks like a penguin hunter in-game which chat they use. Joining a chat is usually not a problem on any other day than Wednesday, when the penguins reset.

Penguins have a wide range of movement, but can be trapped in certain areas. They may not move through obstacles, nor can they go up or down ladders. Players, as long as they are not stepped on, can act as obstacles to box penguins into an area, which is very useful. Out of courtesy, do not step on a player trapping a penguin as it will allow the penguin to move through them, and make sure you thank the trapper. Also, if you trap a penguin yourself, make sure it has at least 2 squares of movement; if it cannot move, it will teleport after a certain amount of time.

There are various locations in which the penguins may be roaming. These include, but are not limited to:
-Feldip Hills
-Castle Wars
-Wilderness
-Sophanem (requires Icthlarin's Little Helper)
-Lletya (requires Mourning's End Part I)
-Elf lands (requires Underground Pass, but Regicide really helps)
-Ardougne
-White Wolf Mountain
-Lunar Isle (requires Lunar Diplomacy)
-Sawmill
-Port Khazard
-Dragontooth Island (requires Ghosts Ahoy, a ghostspeak amulet, and 25 ectotokens, or 10 if the player has a Ring of Charos(a))
-Piscatoris Colony (requires Swan Song)
-Desert
-Duel Arena
-Ape Atoll (requires Monkey Madness)
-Gnome Stronghold
-Miscellania and Etceteria (requires Fremennik Trials)
-Jatiszo and Neitiznot (requires Fremennik Isles)
-Brimhaven
-East Karamja
-Lighthouse
-Burthorpe
-Canifis
-Mort Myre Swamp

Spying Like A Pro
Now that you've got your CC and your inventory ready, get out there and spy on penguins!

There are 10 penguins available per week in random locations. Refer to the forums for general locations and the CC you use for specific locations. Each penguin you spy on confers you penguin points. If you have done the Cold War quest, you can gain up to 15 points per week; if not, you may receive a maximum of 10 points per week. Additionally, if you complete the Hunt for the Red Raktuber, you may gain an extra penguin point by spying on a polar bear in a well, whose location resets once a week with the penguins. This polar bear is stationary, and thus doesn't need to be trapped.

Claiming Your Rewards
Once you have all the points you want or can reach, head to the Ardougne Zoo and talk to Larry or Chuck the Polar Bear. Tell him you want to talk about Penguin Hide and Seek and tell him you would like your reward. At this point, you may choose to exchange your points for coins or experience. You receive experience in a particular skill at a rate of 25*(your points)*(your level), and receive coins at a rate of 6.5k*(your points).

Thanks for reading, and have fun with this great source of easy experience.

Nice guide, haven't done some of those quests though, still might try and make it to the event. How many points do you think are possible to get in an hour?

Edit: Nevermind, saw 10 points per week wink.gif
