Just wondering if anyone else watches this show? I discovered it recently on Hulu, and have pretty much become an overnight fan having watched all 22 episodes in a span of about two days, haha.

For those who haven't heard of it, it's a live-action fantasy show based on the best selling book series called the Sword of Truth by Terry Goodkind, and is produced by Sam Raimi of Xena, Hercules, and Spider Man movie fame. The casting is great, the scripts are always entertaining, and the action scenes and special effects are quite nice for a television series. It's filmed entirely in beautiful New Zealand too, so that's a plus.

Its already been renewed for a full second season that will be aired in fall, and I'm pretty excited for it. I'd highly recommend any fantasy fans to give the show a look. I've found it highly entertaining as well as refreshing to have a great new television series that isn't "reality," or about cops and doctors. It really has many epic, movie-like elements to it except in the form of weekly television.

All 22 episodes from season 1 are available to watch for free on Hulu until September (link below); just make sure you scroll down and start with the first episode instead of clicking the first video on the list which is the last episode...or else you'll be a very confused, and very spoiled person tongue.gif .

Also a trailer to get an idea of what it's like before delving into the 1.5 hour-long first episode:

Aside of both being of the fantasy genre? Then no, not at all. If you compare the Lord of the Rings books with the Sword of Truth books, they're totally different. Compare the LotR movies with LotS television series, they're still quite different.

I'll assume you're comparing the latter. And if you've seen them both, Lord of the Rings is following one main story throughout each movie, while Legend of the Seeker has an overarching story, but each episode is really a unique story of its own, as is with many television series. The two relate to each other in that there is magic, swords, bows and arrows, but nothing else. They're unrelated stories, quite diverse and unique characters involved, with many minor nuances and many more major contrasts and dissimilarities.

It's not for everyone of course. Like it is for lots of new series though, I thought it really got better with each episode. I loved episode 1, and thought it was a great premier. Eps 2-7 were good, albeit somewhat aimless as they were mostly building character progression. Once the show had kind of established itself, it just kept getting better. Episodes 8 and beyond was pretty much the turning point for the series, and from that point on, pretty much every episode in succession became my "new favorite."

In any event, I just can't get enough of it. Matter of fact, liking the show so much influenced me to go out and buy the 11 books that served as a basis for the series, though season one of the show was only based on the first book. They're fantastic in their own right as well. In the past few weeks, I've read 4 of the books, and monsters they are too. The second book alone is just shy of 1000 pages. It'll be quite a feat for me when I actually finish the series, as I don't even think I've read more than 11 books in my entire life beforehand tongue.gif .
