I don't find it maybe as scarey as some might. I belong to a sportsman club and go shooting with friends. I can't imagine them hurting anyone at all. It is as simple as a protest. I'm sure they would of shot him if he caused any trouble. Most everyone in my family has permits to carry concealed anyway. Even my grandma has a gun permit. lol I think a lot of it has to do with how you are brought up to think of guns.
