Into the Wild is a movie from a couple years ago that I just got around to seeing last night because it was on Showtime this month. Anyway, its basically about a College Graduate that gives up his savings ($24,000 USD) and decides to go on a journey to Alaska. Its a really interesting movie that isn't a bunch of action thrown into it, or a bunch of comedy that tries to be serious in the end (although it does have Vince Vaughn for a brief period of time), its just amazingly realistic if traveling the US with little to no cash for a year and a half seems realistic to you. I thought it captured the feelings of what was dubbed "Generation X" (The generation of young adults in the early 1990s america), since the main character doesn't want to lead a life with a career and grow up like his parents did, and instead wants to do what he wants, which is travel in this case.

Anyway, I just saw the movie and absolutely loved it. It doesn't have any major Hollywood stars in the actual movie, but it was directed by Sean Penn, and Eddie Vedder (Lead vocalist of Pearl Jam) did the soundtrack to the movie, which is another reason why I loved the movie. The music is so good that its almost impossible to describe and it makes the movie flow really well since we have an artist of the early 90s doing the music to a movie based in the early 90s. Pretty much every song is an original Eddie Vedder song with him and an acoustic guitar, and with it, he seems to capture the emotions of the main character, and it payed off with a Golden Globe. Personally, I think he should've won the Oscar for his work with Michael Brook and Kaki King, but he didn't even get nominated! (I call bullshit)

Anyway, has anyone else seen this movie? What did you think of it? If you haven't seen it, then I really recommend it if you love awesome music and have a couple hours to waste of your life, since it is 2 hours and 33 minutes long, but hopefully you'll come out saying something like "Life well wasted."
