Soo I have the H1n1 (Swine Flu) virus, fail. I started being sick Monday but was hit by the full out symptoms on Tuesday. I went to the Doctor on Thursday and he said I was recovering but it feels like i'm getting worse. I really need to make it to school Monday but I can't go if i'm sick. Is the Doctor wrong? How long does the sickness last? What are signs that it is slowing down?

Seriously, you think your teacher wants H1N1??

You do not have to go to school Monday, and should not. If your teacher is unwilling to move a test or something, just threaten to come to school, and that should probably make your teacher bend over backwards to accommodate you. If it is just a lecture, ask someone in the class to take notes and voice record the lecture for you.

EDIT:

Oh, and another thing, just because you are not showing any symptoms of sickness anymore, that does not necessarily mean the virus is gone. You could still be carrying it and spread it to others. Trust the doctor on this one.

I told you that you probably had the flu. wut wut?

I read an article about how healthy people (I would say you are quite healthy) should avoid using TamiFlu and other medicines that are directly aimed to get rid and lower the symptoms of the flu, especially the vaccine. The more people who use these medicines to "get better" are only screwing the world over in the long run, as it will create stronger strains of the flu. Just my 2 cents.. time is your best medicine though.

If you REALLY want to go to school, make sure that you are wearing a facemask to protect everyone else, along with you being extremely cautious of what you touch. Make sure that you wash your hands whenever you are given the opportunity to go and do it.

I wouldn't advise you to go to school though.

As I said.. time is the best medicine.

If you've got swine flu you shouldn't be anywhere near school for a week after your symptoms have stopped. That's kind of important. :s Here the college actually made arrangements to QUARANTINE any student living on campus who gets the flu.

I had it.
I got over it
I lived to tell the tale.

I had it mid-July and seriously it wasn't that bad.
I was very ill for one day, then it got progressively better. Day #2 WAS HORRIBLE.... the doctor told my mum that she would phone back mid-morning.... this is at 8am..... the doctor said "don't take any medication until I call back".... so there I am writhing in agony from 8... 9.... 10... it gets to 11am no call.... finally at 12.30 the doctor calls sad.gif

But yeah I was ill for 5 days (ill as in I had symptoms, even if mild).
It's not that bad.
Oh yeah I was prescribed tamiflu btw.

Hope you get better man =)

but yea swine flu vaccine kills more than it helps. There are 4 navy ships out in the sea right now that took it, the captain of 1 ship is dead, and the other 3 ships are quarantined because half the crews are half dead-Dad being North-com contractor=knowing shit.

p.s- I heard tylenol makes the illness incubate with you longer(bad thing), but idk since thats just what I have heard.

Yeah...you really shouldn't go to school.

I know a lot of universities in the US are taking this VERY seriously and keeping people that SEEM to have the virus quarantined.

And like others have said, just because you don't LOOK sick doesn't mean you aren't sick.

Stay home for about a week, drink up on the orange juice. Don't pull any long nights (as in go to sleep at like 9PM). Get a lot of rest.

Trust the doctor. Don't try taking medicine you've "heard" helps. If he doesn't tell you to take anything, don't.

just remember, h1n1 is just like any other flu. the worst you can do is freak out and act like you will die.

stay indoors and drink a lot of water

DO NOT take tamiflu or anything else for the ilness.

1. If you are fit and healthy your body will deal with the sickness in due course and become IMMUNE to it.
2. The government has put other shit into the tamiflu vaccine apart from the actual cure for swine flu.

Remember:
Your body is a very well designed machine and is perfectly capable of dealing with such an ilness, you are born to fight disease and survive.

The standard length of time that you are considered contagious is from 1-2 days prior to symptoms until 5-6 days after the start of symptoms. So since you got sick on Monday, your time is basically up this coming Monday. If you feel fine, go to school.

Hope you feel better soon Dylan. wub.gif

Some cases have people recover and then show signs of increased flu symptoms. But after this is typically dies down and the flu's gone

I think i may have had it. I was in fairly close contact with a girl who had it (had been prescribed tamiflu), and developed mild symptons the next few days. They say that it hardly effects some people, while it can kill others, it seems like a very weird strain.

Recovery wishes anyone who has it. I'd avoid any public contact until you can be sure you're not contageous. The less it spreads, the better.

Don't go to school.
Don't die.

In a pandemic you can't really 100% rely on anyone, even doctors... I would agree with most of WG and let your body fight it off, and avoid contact with others as best as possible. Good luck with it.

well actually since i am studying medicine, i'm in the 3rd semester right now, so i don't know how serious you gonna take my words, BUT all i wanted to say is that, you should trust your doctor, since sometimes recovering is the worst part, your body has to fight the virus with high body temperature and other defence mechanisms. If you feel like you're not able to attend school, then don't because the doctors can't motinor you 24\7. And if the doctor happens to be wrong then you can always sue his ass and make some money.
