23 years of self conscious but no use of body or senses for that matter. at least the advances have helped his mind type words.

its also possible that with cyber technological advances to give robert a body of his own in the near future. his human determination to live is astounding.

That's just one example of how cruel the world can be some times. I just can't imagine being trapped in my own body like that. that poor guy must've had suicidal thoughts lots of times...

Damn.. Surprising and disturbing.

Yeah, it's a tragedy that something like that happened. If I would be in that condition. I would just want them to put me out of my misery.

There is a Metallica song about that guy.. I'll try to find it.

[Edit found it, it's Metallica's song called One.]

A primary school teacher has been suspended after reducing her class to tears after allegedly telling them to make up a story about their fathers dying in the 9/11 terror attacks.

+1 for American education.

On the main topic... yeah 23 years being able to do absolutely nothing except exist... damn blink.gif

I could survive maybe a week like that.

Woah there was a House M.D. episode about this but I didn't think it was actually something you could get in real life.

that really sucks for him..beyond description. I'm amazed that he can still think positive after 23 years of thinking that no one would ever know the truth.

I don't think you can sue a doctor for not being able to recognize a symptom.

It said in the middle of the article that the technology to read his brain function was only created 3 or so years ago.

Also, why on earth would doctors think that this guy is in a full body parametrization when it was much more likely that he was in a coma. Now if the guy could like blink or whatever, it would be different. But he literally could not move at all.

Must be able to do something if he can read books and type.

That was after therapy. Wow the years he has lost with his family and maybe even some of them have died in that amount of time. You have to wonder if he had a gf or anything that he was hopeful about. If his family/nurses kept him wanting to live.

The second story of that teacher is basically a misunderstanding between the teacher and parents. Parents probably said stuff to get the children more upset then was necessary. They simply should of wrote a note stating that their child was not to be in the room during this type discussion then go to the school board with the issue. Putting young children through the trauma of fighting with the teacher would make it far worse on the kids.

Thank you Garrett and Dallar.

is the day you have stopped leading them.
They have either lost confidence that you can help them
or concluded that you do not care.
Either case is a failure of leadership.”
