So like, I had this super idea years ago to totally make RS the shit. I spent quite a bit of time on it, and discussed tons of it with Matt back in the day. Seriously, this all goes back almost three years now. I haven't paid attention to it for ages, but I dug some of it out. I'm way behind on RS lore, so please take a look and tell me if the following scenario would make any sense at all.

Intro: Jaisara is one of the greater dragons. Each lineage (green, blue, red, black, white, and golden) has one greater dragon, and together these six dragons make up the Dragonic Pantheon. The dragons were entrusted by Guthix to preserve the peace of Gelinor as much as was within their power, but Saradomin somehow convinced Jaisara that the best way to preserve Gelinor would be to destroy Zamorak once and for all. So she took her kin, swore allegiance to Saradomin, and joined in the God Wars against Zamorak.

Jaisara let out a scream of triumph as she soared over the destruction below. The armies of the gods did battle for the future of Gelinor, and none among them could contend with her children. The bloodlust was exhilarating, encompassing: blinding. And through the smoke and ash, Jaisara spotted Zamorak himself, surrounded by the puny Mahjarrat.

Jaisara called her chief lieutenants to her, and hurled herself and the full might and power of her brood at the Dark Lord below. Her war cry sundered stone, and even the undead fled as the Queen of Fire hurtled towards their master. Drawing on the power of her kin, Jaisara drew in her breath, power surged through her… and something else.

Jaisara coughed, cried out, her momentum carrying her into a blackness summoned by the Mahjarrat and reinforced by the power of the Darkest God. The blackness ate at her, brittling her scales and searing lungs impervious even to the most powerful dragon fire. Jaisara exploded from the cloud and struck the ground, her body shattered and broken.

And she bled. The blood of an Emissary of the Dragonic Pantheon poured from her, burning all it touched to ashes. Broken, she turned, a dying effort to engulf Zamorak in purifying flame. Even with her eyes eaten away by the blackness, she could sense his approaching presence. But she was broken within, and as she inhaled the fire consumed her.

In that moment, terror gripped the remaining white dragons, and they fled the field of their leader’s slaughter. The White Wizard Tower was sundered, and fell into ruin as Jaisara’s dying scream was heard all across Gelinor. Each dragon of every lineage felt her death as their own, and cried out in agony and rage.

Until now the dragons had remained neutral in the God Wars, true to their pledge to Guthix at their creation to preserve Gelinor as much as was within their power. But now every lineage cried out to strike back at the gods with the full power of the Dragonic Pantheon, to break their power and free Gelinor utterly from their influence.

Two of the greater dragons, Searfang the Golden and Razorclaw the Black, sought to reason with their kin, but to no avail. An unnamed lieutenant of Razorclaw struck out in defiance and treachery and slew his father, demanding the rule of the Black Brood. Immediately after, he led them in an attack on Searfang and her children.

The golden dragons each remained true to Searfang and Guthix, but knew nothing of Razorclaw’s fall, nor of his children’s treachery. Told that that Searfang and Razorclaw had hung back because of some secret agreement with the gods, the Black Brood harbored hatred in their hearts and death in their vengeful claws and fangs.

With this final blow, the Dragonic Pantheon was sundered, and the Golden Brood slain. The other dragons knew nothing but that destruction was in their midst, and rightfully saw its source in the conniving of the gods. But to each saw different aims. Ultimately the Black, Green and Red Broods joined Zamorak to strike against Saradomin.

However, Icefang, the greater dragon of the Blue Brood, saw rightly that Zamorak’s influence was behind Razorclaw’s fall, and he took his children and all others who would listen to join Saradomin, refusing to ever ally his kin with a being of such evil as Zamorak, especially as Icefang was closest to Jaisara of all the greater dragons.

Searfang was forced to choose between protecting her kin or executing the charge set upon the Dragonic Pantheon by Guthix. True ever to her duty, Searfang gathered the remnants of Gelinor’s inhabitants who remained unsoiled by the wrath of the gods and secured them by enchantment, doing the same to protect the remaining Wizard Towers.

The dying screams of her children in her ears, Searfang then gathered the scattered White Brood and, as the last of her sons were slain, took them deep beneath the earth where she had already sent the denizens of Gelinor. However, in her final act she broke the trust, bringing them all to the subterranean gates of Har’geddon.

Har’geddon was the deep stronghold of the Mahjarrat who served Zamorak. While he strode the battlefields above, his true source of power was here, secured within impenetrable walls and defended by the power of the Mahjarrat who served him. Through her enchantments, Searfang separated Zamorak from Har’geddon in time.

Searfang, the remaining White Brood, and those who had come with them began the siege of Har’geddon. They built their own city in a great cavern and named it Darkull, City of Fire and Steel. Being young in the passage of time they were hardy and strong, both in magic and physical might. Determined, they stood against Har’geddon.

Although inescapably seperated from Zamorak, the Mahjarrat within Har’geddon were not idle. They were the most powerful of Zamorak’s followers and guarded the center of his power. Sensing the turmoil within Searfang’s mind, they used subtle sorcery to attack her thoughts, filling her head with the dying screams of her children.

Searfang knew immediately that she was descending into madness, and the remnants of the White Brood with her. In her final exercise of full power, she brought them down to the lowest caverns beneath Darkull, and tied off the enchantments she had cast so that even she could do nothing to pervert them from the depths of her future madness.

In the wars above, each of the greater dragons fell. And as Searfang was reduced to madness, the Trust was broken. The dragons became mindless creatures of the earth once again, and slowly, Guthix began to awaken. However, Searfang’s enchantments were so strong that even he dared not lay hand to them in his awakening.

So today, somewhere, beyond the confines of our time and space, the Towers of Wizardry still stand from the seas beyond the eastern coasts. And the denizens of Darkull and Har’geddon do battle, even as Zamorak tries to return to the source of his power. If he succeeds, it is said he will regain power sufficient to level all of Gelinor.

Footnote: The lieutenant of the Black Brood who slew Razorclaw was hugely rewarded by Zamorak, and in the end Guthix let him live, as mindless as any of his kin. You can find him to this day in the deep Wilderness: we call him the King Black Dragon.

White and gold dragons don't exist and dragons are not normally regarded as particularly intelligent or a major part of RS history at this point.

I'm asking if this COULD be considered as an alternative history.
And white dragons did exist, although they're now extinct.
I also explained why dragons are no longer particularly intelligent.

Think a minute before you take a crap on three years of thinking about this, please? wub.gif

sounds cool tongue.gif

And I think Jagex plans on introducing more Dragons because the WGS quest focused on Dragoons or whatever those weird hunched Dragons are called.

Tbh, it'd help if Jagex actually decided what lore they were going to use. I've found three different variations so far this afternoon. HUGE variations. dry.gif
