discussion on financial freedom in runescape

ever since starting rs money has generally have been a hastle for those who lack the knowledge of attaining the wealth needed to do what they truly want. i for one are the type of guy who wants to do things fast and reap the rewards but i've also noticed that the faster i do things in rs. there is a large percentage of money involved.

essentially financial freedom is a concept in real life but also applied to rs. we've witnessed players who have maxed out their wealth and its just ridiculous what they can do.

this year i plan on achieving financial freedom from rs in the sense that i can establish a systematic approach that will make me money with very little time spend "working for money".

so, lets discuss, what is financial freedom and if so then what steps does one take to attain a level in which money itself is no longer a concern but a tool that enables possibilities.

I think thats all a matter of opinion. One player can be happy and do everything he would want with 1m. others will never be happy with what they have.

Impossible for some. All my finances will go towards clan gear and supplies, and I will never achieve what I consider satisfactory stocks.

I suppose the idea is to have enough money that you can PK off the -interest- that money makes. That way, you never have to worry about making money, and can concentrate on having fun.

Personally though, I just train and game in low-cost methods: A good example is Slayer, where you can generally make piles of money, even at relatively low slayer levels; just remember to pick up herbs and take Trout(dirt cheap) for food.

And, PKing, just be careful - You can often make money; I have so far at P2P raids. But then, I haven't died yet, so we shall see.

Financial freedom can be achieved only by merchanting, all other methodes depends on luck especially. But also for merchanting you need some starting founds. Best freedom can give you merching with items of stable value so you dont have to care much if the price go up or down rapidly. Best was to merch with some item of low price so you could buy a lot of pieces and them sell is for a bit higher price (e.g. feathers, coal, iron ore). Unfortunately, there are a lot of "new" limits which dont allow you to buy high amounts of items at the same time (therefore i am buying 100k bronze arrows over half a year dface-ani.gif )

I'm very content and happy with my financial state in rs. What do I really need more for. Yeah it would be nice to have some better gear and 50 full rune sets in the bank, but I don't need that or really want it.

I like that I can borrow an item occasionally or loan one out. It's a nice feeling to know my friends will help or that I can help them.

The thing is that I don't want greed to consume the game for me.

have to admit with that phrase. when i was poor i had the luxury of being complacent with what i have.

now, its a never ending cycle of money that just keeps on going..and going.

the great thing is although in rs i do have the gp to do most things. the most important asset is essentially time. my skill training has significantly dropped in time as my assets have increased. i can afford to do lvl 99 prayer now =D

being poor is great but having the money to invest in more time is essential to the gameplay.

Playing since late 2002, still don't have much over 25M hash.png

What pisses me off is the fact that if i hadn't screwed up lootshare/coinshare at armadyl, i would have near 100M now - _-

Until WG, I never gave much thought to RS financial independence. I think the most that I had was like 5 million. With WG there are gear requirements and the need to accumulate gp to buy gear. I am really a skiller at heart and leveling skills has allowed me to earn the gp needed to buy gear. I am by no means wealth but there is a certain amount of satisfaction in earning the gp to maintain gear levels. My goal is to be able to skill all of the gear that I need, but that is for the future.

well, it appears i'm drawing ever closer to financial independence from rs. literally =P

the thing i'm noticing that is different now is...what can i not do with all that cash and even more so that i have a system in place that just generates loot like crazy.

like the saying goes"more money makes more money"

in any case, at this point the gp has become a standard for me and a prestige towards others. the fact that i hold the knowledge to make ridiculous amounts of gp with no effort at all is something people desire and i've come to be able to influence others lives to the point that they achieve greater things than i ever could. that by far is astounding as i assimilate their greatness and ascend. its almost like the result of their success becomes my own and skyrockets everything. my confidence is beyond imagining and literaly nothing can upset me. i'm more patient with people and lovingly reach out. its alot to write about but essentially i don't know whats the limit of rs independence except for the fact that once its attained it allows you to have leisure time for other things.

i wonder if this applies to real life economics?

I have not played in a considerably long time, so this may be outdated.

Kill dragons and sell their bones (over 5K each currently... 140K per inventory).
Ransack barrows 100 times.
I also used farming herbs and making potions... not sure what your levels are there.
