QUOTE
Jagex is proud to present RuneFest 2010! RuneFest 2010 will be the first ever real-world event of its size for RuneScape players. Taking place on Saturday 28th August, the event will be held at an exciting central London venue.

RuneFest will include a range of events and activities, with more details to follow in the coming weeks. Crucially, we will be including Insider Sessions with the team behind RuneScape as an opportunity for the players and ourselves to get to know each other better.

We’re holding the event as a fan celebration to thank our dedicated RuneScape players around the world for their support and to have a really good time together in real-life. In Andrew’s own words, "I’ve always wanted to go to an event like this, but I realised the only way that was going to happen was if we put it on ourselves. So we are!"

Keep an eye on www.RuneFest.com to keep up to date with the latest news and information about this landmark event, and make sure you register for updates and the opportunity to buy a ticket 24 hours before the rest of the world.

We hope to see you there!
The RuneScape Team

Please note that alcohol will be available at this event, for which proof of age will be required. Because of this, the event will only be suitable for our adult fans.

I'm going.
The event is for adults only.
If anyone is serious about attending, let me know and we'll arrange to meet up.

I'm really hoping one of my best friends comes from the US. If multiple people come from overseas we could plan it out and make a weekend of it, as coming from the US for a day out is a little much.

I'd like to go...but don't think I'll be able to.

No way my parents would pay to fly me to London, much less for something that is RS related, seeing as how my dad hates RS with a passion.

I wonder if they'll give promotional items away to people that do attend.

I'm going. And I'm going to make a big deal out of this.
Buying the tickets in a month or so when things solidify.
Not only the most amazing IRL meeting ever, but good recruitment opportunity.
WG T-Shirts might be a bit much though. I will have to think of something subtle.

I want to know prices, as I am doubtful I can give up what little dignity I have left for this. Unless WG is coming, in which case I make an exception. My car is in London, I want to see it again tongue.gif

So Jagex is holding an 18+ event...average age of a RS player? My bet is below that. But I guess the only way they can get people to go out to one of these things would be if booze was available.

I'm thinking they just don't want to deal with a bunch of 13-year-olds. And try to keep them entertained,

The older crowd will probably be a bit more mature(at least, they hope), and easily entertainable via the generous application of intoxicating beverages!

I also suspect that it relates to safety concerns as well. Hell, Jagex has spent years 'protecting' younger players by enforcing fairly strict requirements on what 'Real Life' details can be shared, so I am fairly sure they wouldn't want to have the logistical nightmare that a whole bunch of 13 year old scapers' mingling with dirty old bastards might be.

Can't say I see the appeal in going to this, but if it's cheap (and I lived in London) I'd probably go... neko2.gif
