I will use this topic to let you all know the progress on Shadowcast which Gene and I have taken up again. smile.gif
Since we've only just begun there is tons to do but I am adding new things every day.

Features so far:
biggrin.gif Working game - You can walk around, battle and so on.
biggrin.gif Crafting - The system works as intended, I would like ideas on item recepies. More on crafting further down.
biggrin.gif Set items - collect set's and get bonuses to stats and other things.
biggrin.gif Unique items - Sort of like sets except they work on their own.
smile.gif /examine - Look at other peoples worn equipment.
smile.gif Fully working genders - Make male and female characters of each class.
biggrin.gif Books - Pick up and read books.
smile.gif /qlog - Shows the quests you are on and how many you have completed.
biggrin.gif Fishing - 5 types of fish, your line can break and the fishes eat your bait.
biggrin.gif Titles - You killed a might dragon and saved the princess.... Now what? You get the title of Knight ofcourse! Gain a number of different titles.


Working on:
ph34r.gif Maps maps and lots of maps - I want the tutorial town done before we release an alpha.
eck12.gif Pet system - I think I almost got it working but yet not.
wub.gif Music - Go go go Gene, We're up and running!
wub.gif Suggestions, ideas - I try to implement anything cool I think of, and I'm open to play ideas!
wub.gif Player owned shops - Got the whole thing working EXCEPT for buying items on the market, and I can't seem to figure out where the bug is.... Ahh well, it'll come to me.
wub.gif The Shadowcast and songs - The heroes might instrument of ages past.


Details of the systems in place:

Graphics:
16 bit 2D graphics. This is what works for me, what I know how to implement and it's all my engine runs. smile.gif

Crafting:
The crafting in shadowcast is both advanced and so simple.
There are no crafting levels, no crafting exp.
To craft you need a recipe or blueprint, simple ones might be purchased in shops, while others may be researched and yet some are quest rewards or mob drops!
Then you ofcourse need a tool, introduce the portable crafting station and you have everything you need right at hand.
Then you need your materials.
Some materials are mundane while others are more mysterious in nature.
I am always accepting ideas for blueprints and recipies.
To give you an idea of what recipies look like, to make a jeweled dagger you would needs 1 weak dagger and 2 jewels and the recipe for daggers.
You would place you recipe in the recipe slot, your materials in your portable crafting device and then use the device, wala, you have a jeweled dagger which now does more damage and has more durability.
Many kinds or items can be made this way, in fact, anything that can be done within the engines limits, can be made a recipe with this crafting system. wub.gif

Screenshots posted on the grimson forums, keep in mind nothing is really ready yet, just to give people an idea.
Planned changes to the tradeskill system is fishing, cooking, mining and lumberjacking which will all be used in with the crafting system to create items. smile.gif

That sounds great Gene.
Currently working on implementing the Shadowcast and song pages / books.


Fixed a little screwup with fishing. rolleyes.gif
Now you can only fish on designated fishing maps.


EDIT again: Removed the player shops, it was causing alot of problems and I couldn't figure out why it was working, and then suddently everything stopped working. :/
