Freakin water in my town is contaminated

QUOTE
Falmouth Water Department is currently under a boil order condition as per directive of the Massachusetts Department of Environmental Protection

BOIL YOUR WATER BEFORE USING

E. coli bacteria were found in the water supply on 6/7/10. These bacteria can make you sick, and are a particular concern for people with weakened immune systems.

We took 44 samples for coliform bacteria during June 2010. 16 of those samples showed the presence of coliform bacteria. The standard is that no more than 5 percent of our samples may do so. In addition, 5 of those samples showed the presence of E.coli bacteria.

Fecal coliforms and E. coli are bacteria whose presence indicates that the water may be contaminated with human or animal wastes. Microbes in these wastes can cause diarrhea, cramps, nausea, headaches, or other symptoms. They may pose a special health risk for infants, young children, some of the elderly, and people with severely compromised immune systems.

FFS, I've had a certain one of those symptoms like 3 times sad.gif

The water is not safe for:

- Drinking

- Washing hands

- Making ice cubes

- Taking showers or baths

- Brushing teeth

- Making baby formula

- Washing fruits or vegetables

- Preparing food

- Making coffee, tea and lemonade

- Pets' drinking water

The DEP recommends using boiled or bottled water for these activities.

The water is safe for:

- Doing laundry

- Watering grass and gardens

- Using a dishwasher only if it has a sanitizing cycle

ahhh gaaaddd It's a never ending cycle - you get diarrhea, can't wash your hands but simply must, so you do and washing your hands makes you get diarrhea again and then you wash them again and so on and so on and so on

We've had that here before too, but my water tested clean since I was on a well and not city water...which was really nice. A lot of people used that water free anti bacterial hand gel stuff and then just boiled water to bath and cook in etc. If you have empty bottles or jugs around you can boil it and store it, keep it near the sink to wash your hands with to break the cycle =P

Ever played Fallout 3?
Bottled water is gold.

That's why I buy 4 large boxes of bottled water every month.
