You guys realise the WG community has gotten worse and worse over the past few months simply due to immaturity right? Our community lacks, our pking isn't fantastic, and everyday I see constant trolling and immaturity from WG staff, council and members alike. Does trolling, and flaming honestly make you feel good inside, or is it just something which you have been accustomed to through experiencing it from other people and seeing it being done to others?

We're human beings, we can't get along with everybody we meet. This does not mean however, that we need to troll and constantly have smart remarks about people, in front of them and behind their back. Further to this, the immaturity within WG nowadays is unbelievable. Ask any older member who reminisces about 06/07 days, and being in WG was not about making somebody feel bad for their levels, their looks, their name, their attitude. If you step back and take a look, we're in a clan together, so why not act like it? Flaming, trolling and immaturity only ruins a community, it does nothing to strengthen it.

For those people you don't like, you're not obligated to talk to them in irc, nor in teamspeak, nor even reply to threads or posts made by that particular individual. Does the 1 minute that you spend thinking up or some smart, witty + hilarious (to yourself) comment really worth making another person feel bad? I'm not going to ask you to find something in common with that person, as honestly, what a stretch to do a complete turnaround on a person in a short space of time.

To council members, and staff, you're the leaders of WG, the people which members look up to. What you guys do is reflected in our attitude towards, and within the clan. If you're immature, we're immature. Immaturity does not make a clan grow. Sensible, smart leaders of the other hand, do. As a leader it's your duty to be a safe medium for all clan members to go to, when another member steps out of line. A snowball effect is happening within WG, where leaders attitude are passed down through to tertiaries, and then through to members. Is it so hard to actually do your job, grow up and act in a council like manner?

In short, grow up.
Even though its the internet, you're not 12.
Start acting like it.
Especially staff and council.

That is all.

I thought this at first. But I guess that he's maybe focussing a bit more on one or two cases...

EDIT: After reading Nick's post - I see your point. The 4chan influence can sometimes go too far xD

There is a place and time to act like that on certain threads. I'm definitely not wanting that side removed, as I too like to joke around on non-serious threads. On the other hand, on serious topics, have you seen the amount of idiotic comments people post?

Its getting tiresome.

This is probably the most important topic to reach WG forums in more than a month.

It should be in IA and should be pinned. No trolling or joking.

When Gene made that post on RSC about attacking people in real life, that only brushed an edge of what RuneScape clanning has become. Ever since 4chan has reached clanning and more specifically WG, things have gone down hill. There is no thread that stays serious because people worry more about their e-rep or their post count than improving this clan.

If you notice, the most mature people have left this clan from Emeritus for better things in their life. Might it be a coincidence that they have grown out of RuneScape, but it could have been hastened by the fact that RuneScape has gone down, while they have gone up.

I've only really seen one instance where I thought the joking was taken too far since I've been here, but I am really new to WG still. I think the community is great honestly, and if people were to silence themselves from being who they are...even if you don't like the fact they are immature, then really aren't you showing the same disrespect for them because you don't like a quality about them? And it would be a very quiet forum if people felt like they had to walk on eggshells and not have fun with each other. The entire point of a game is to have fun and the entire point of a clan is to have fun with a group of people while playing that game.

From my point of view all I've seen is people needing to lighten up and not take everything so personally. Things change, people and places evolve. Nothing is the same as it was 3 - 4 years ago...and I'm happy its not because how boring would a static world like that be? I think your post was written in a way that it meant well, but I think by your comments you are committing the same crime against the people you are pointing the finger at...only in a more eloquent and well-worded way. If you find someones posts immature then you also have the option of not responding, and if you don't like a person because of their immaturity you also have the option of not speaking to them. There are people in WG from all over the world, from all types of different socio-economical backgrounds, and from all types of age groups. What one person finds immature another will find fun. What one person finds mature another will find dull. Thats how it goes when you have such an amazing blend of people. I think WG is strong because of that blend, not despite it.
