There is a booming number of people playing Age of Empires now, and its only getting more and more popular. In fact it's so popular in WG that I'm going to include it in the next anniversary. I'd like us all to download this game, which is a good break from all the Runescape we're doing.

Don't worry, it's not going to distract us from growing. It's a really fun side-game. Follow the instructions below to download and install it. Anyone who's played in a game recently will testify to how sensational this is.

If you are running Vista, you cannot play this game. Windows 7 works fine though. Getting this game for free and playing multiplayer is NOT easy, but very worth it.

Step One
Download this torrent:
http://www.kickasstorrents.com/easy-instal...l-t4078701.html
If you don't know about torrents, ask a member in the IRC to explain torrent downloaders.

Step Two
Once it is downloaded, install it on your computer.

Step Three
Download this crack which lets you play without the CD:
http://gf.wiretarget.com/aoe2.htm
It's the third one down.

Step Four
Extract the files in that crack (completely safe), and copy the empires2.exe into the folder where you installed the game. It's most likely C Drive -> Program Files -> Microsoft Games. Replace the empires2.exe that's already in there with your cracked version.

Step Five
Your game will be fully functional now. What you need to do now is install the program that lets you play multiplayer. Download LogMeIn Hamachi here:
https://secure.logmein.com/products/hamachi2/download.aspx
You want the unmanaged version

Step Six
Install Hamachi on your computer, but don't connect to any networks yet. When you want to play multiplayer, someone will explain how to connect. Leave it for now.

Step Seven
Play the Age of Empires Learning Campaign (Tutorial) so you will be a better player when you go up against other WG members. His Lordship has only ever lost one game of AOEII to WG, when he was outnumbered 3:1. If you've got time, play the single player compaigns as well. They will REALLY help you improve your skills.

_____________________

Enjoy, this is one of the best social games ever. I am confident it will be more popular than iSketch. Like I said, getting this game to work isn't straightforward, but it's very worth it.

I'm hoping at least 32 of us can get set up so that we can have a knockout competition.

AOE III is ok but I don't like how all you can be is Americans with guns. I like all the different civs. And AOE3 is WAY too modern.

Wow I am so happy to see this. Just the other day I started playing it again. It's not as fun playing against the computer though.

I have AoEII The Age of Kings, I won't need to download any of this stuff right?

DZ you still need to download Hamachi, and go here to download Update 2.0a:

Don't even think you need the crack tbh.
With crack - Multiplayer runs, single player doesn't.
W/o crack - Multiplayer "seems" to run, single player does too.
