I'm going to try and market WG at Runefest by giving away some stuff.

At the moment I'm leaning toward the bookmarks for a few reasons. They are cheap to make, useful, easy to carry, and can fit quite a bit of information.

A pen is my next idea because I reckon they'll be a popular giveaway. They are relatively cheap to make too, BUT they can only fit our name and website. On the upside they can be kept in your pocket unlike a bookmark.

Magnets are also pretty good giveaways, and are half way between the bookmark (you can cram in a little info) and the pen (people will actually want them). And they can fit in your pocket. Not sure if they'll have metal detectors though.

Thoughts?

110% pen

Everything else is either a one-time use thing or something I would most likely put away and never see again. Regardless if they use the pen or not, they would still keep it on a desk or something.

Yeah, but what would I put in the pen?
I think I get 2 lines...

The Wilderness Guardians
wildernessguardians.com

OR

WildernessGuardians.com
6 year old clan, 100+ events

OR

WildernessGuardians.com
No other clan comes close

OR

WildernessGuardians.com

Suggestions?

I said flier/booklet

Main reason being that you can stick a TON of information in them. However, theres always the risk of those being forgotten/discarded. Like Randy said, its likely that it would be forgotten.

I think that's the best of those suggestions, from the website address people should be able to work out who the clan is (hence making it unnecessary to put our name there). If you can fit anything else on I'd put this:

I think it would be a good idea to include the combat requirements on it..

Randy, on that limited space, the idea is to encourage as many visits as possible.
Who cares if we hand them to a level 60.
In 6 months time, he will recall our name and perhaps join.
And If I made 1000 pens, I doubt we'll be in short supply.

A pen would be easy to carry around and effective. I would say DVD but you can do that on runescape community and tip.it.

You want something that is going to be easy to pick up and won't be bulky to carry. If JaGeX is giving out pamphlets or things to carry around, then a brochure of our own wouldn't be a bad thing, as they could just slide it in with their JaGeX pamphlet.

Pens are pretty much the 100% thing that people will pick up, and some might actually use. Hell some people might use it to take notes with at RuneFest.

I'm afraid they might be a bit clumsy because of that flap. I wouldn't enjoy holding onto one of those.

Flier/Booklet

Meh I'm a publicity chair for an organization on campus and we as well as most organizations like to use fliers/booklets because of the amount of information and design you can put into them. Things like bookmarks we've used before, but they're not really going to catch anyone's eye on their own.

Another popular thing that groups like to use is cups. They get cups with something printed on them like the organization's name and put fliers/pens/other goodies inside of them. Haven't done this myself so not sure where to order them but I bet it would be easy to find.

It depends on the way they're being distributed.

I'd be much more likely to take a pamphlet from someone who's just handing them out than a pen.

On the other hand, I'd be more willing to grab a pen or magnet if there is a booth and I'm talking to someone about it.

Either way, I would say make more pens than other things, but have some fliers/bookmarks/magnets as well.

I said a pen...I always go for the pen...its the most useful thing on the list.

As for what to say on the pen I like

WildernessGuardians.com
6 year old clan, 100+ events
No other clan comes close

the best. I think it covers the 2 things a lot of people look for in a clan, stability and events.

A plastic shopping bag thing with pen in it would be great. They would be advertising the clan all day as they walked around filling the bag up with whatever from tables. The pen would be the keeper thing.

I'm not sure how expensive it would be or how many you would have to get but it is an idea. I was at a fair this summer and I was so thankful to find a bag just to hold all the crap people were handing out.

Like most others, i'd go for the pen. If its a cool design, they'll probably use it all the time. And everyone uses pens hash.png

Second choice i'd probably say is a keyring, again if its a cool design.

In addition to the pen, i'd probably make some flyers or business cards too as you say, with a bit more info on.

As for what goes on the pen, i'd go for this one

A bookmark - Useful if you remember it, lasts forever, easily placed in a book and forgotten, judging by RS community most aren't well read tongue.gif
A postcard - Collectable, easily lost misplaced, no real use, 9/10 people would never send an RS related post card
A business card - We aren't a business, would look surreal, create impression of seriousness
A flier/booklet - Fliers usually make it to the nearest rubbish bin then are thrown away
A promotional DVD - Potentially interesting but what content would it include that couldn't be just as easily obtained online
A pen - Useful, practical, Cheaper ones tend to dry up and then are thrown away.
A keyring - Anyone who has keys would already have a keyring
A fridge magnet - Target demographic probably wouldn't need/use one.
A sticker - Most likely would be placed on clothing or something, probably last a few minutes. People may take them to place on friend's backs etc
A badge - Name one person you know who has worn a badge recently for something other than a military event.

My impressions on the list. I would go with either a pen or a bookmark

I voted Pen because if I were to go to Runefest, it would probably be the only thing i pick up, maybe a keychain too. Everything else, forget about it. If i were to pick it up, i'd probably leave it somewhere at runefest neko2.gif
