I'm always curious to hear where other people have worked their first job.
My first job was at Good Will (a thirft store). I accepted donations in the warehouse part of the store as well as being a cashier.
Quit after they kept asking me if I wanted over time, and then cutting my hours back later on in the week so that I wouldn't get it.

What was your first job?

I was a paper boy too while in early high school. Did that for about a year and a half until I got well and truly tired of having to put all the brochures inside every paper before delivering them.

Paper unit? I was also a paper boy ALONG time ago. But I think I was to young to consider it a real job.

I delivered pamphlets for my first Job (can you really count it as a job though? they pay you more like a slave) which I gave up after getting a job at the local shop.

Did that for ~3 years and eventually worked my way up to being one of the managers (which I have to admit, being a manager at 18 was pretty sweet) and I kept that job untill I had to move towns so I could go to Uni neko2.gif

My first job I worked in the Political and Economic Section of the US Embassy in Cameroon.

Did a lot of scanning documents and filing them electronically. Nothing to fancy. Was just a summer job between 10th and 11th grade.

When I was 11 I delivered newspapers. I had to fold them which was a pain.
I only had that job for 3 weeks until it pissed me off too much.

Then when I was 18, I stacked shelves for a supermerket and I had that job until I was 21.

Then I became a music teacher.

I had a seasonal job during the xmas season at a suit store with my sister and brother. But don't really consider a real job cause it was a short term. My first real job is my current one at Sportchek (a sports store hash.png ) I've been there for 3 years come this August. Up to now I have been a good employee but apparently as of yesterday night they found me and one of the other guys slacking off on camera hehe. Hopefully I don't get written up.

Never had a paper round hash.png

Work experience, I was stacking shelves at Iceland (It's a chain of market stores here in England) for 2 weeks.

My first proper job is my current job, and I'm doing audits for Portraits International - one of the biggest photography companies in the world. I go to London almost every other week for it and I've been to Manchester twice as well. It's checking packages, making sure money adds up, that sort of stuff.

I'm at the bottom-end of the corporate chain, just above the maid who cleans the office. I can get paid around £25 an hour - over 7 times my minimum wage biggrin.gif

Boy Scout summer camp work crew. Worked the week before and the week after the camp's operation. Kinda like camp set-up and take-down. Did some rough manual labor work, spreading gravel in a shooting range site in 100+ degree heat one of the days.

I think I sorted some papers at a chiropractor at some point in the 5th grade.
I also designed a shirt for a middle school club -- but that was free; I'm not sure if that counts.

I haven't had a real, legitimate job yet.

Lot associate at Home Depot. It involved lifting 90 pound concrete bags, huge peices of lumber, helping people load shit into their car, etc. 10$ Canadian an hour.

I quit when I realised I could EASILY make double that working for a landscape company.

Good choice. One of my hometown friends got a landscaping job for a local greenhouse this summer. Paid pretty well and he enjoyed it, said the day went by fast.

Um yah Work Experience ... unpaid.. but I worked as a teacher in two primary schools.
One private school for rich...ish kids - nice facilities cool kids and happy staff.
The other was a state school where the facilities weren't even in existence, the staff were demoralised and suicidal and new kids from Somalia kept joining throughout the week I was there...

It was a good eye-opener though neko2.gif

Um my first proper job.... as in paid... rofl was babysitting... if you can call it a job.

Other than that, no PAID work.

At the moment i'm working with a theatre company, building set and then going to be backstage working with them as they take their show up to the Edinburgh Theatre Fringe Festival in August. Unpaid (!).

Next year - CAMP AMERICA - paid... Randy are you going to try to disuade me from doing this? neko2.gif
