Browsing through old topics as I do, I found a testimonial I wrote a year and 8 days ago.

QUOTE
I figured it was too long for the website.

When one thinks of WG one has to think of His Lordship... after all, he is the frontal figure of the clan. I find it extremely difficult to find a word which truly describes Eugene in full. There is much complexity, much strength and much emotion to be seen from him and his actions. After all, the TeamSpeak rant has achieved worldwide fame, as well as WG's recruitment video, which I believe is the only RuneScape-related video in which the clan leader presents it. On the one hand, Eugene is a very strong individual. No other leader can I think of has survived 2 hacks and 3 permenant bans. The TeamSpeak rant shows the extent to which he can fight for his clan and purpose, and at certain moments on the server even I feel intimidated at times. But as long as you stay on his good side, you can begin to understand that the sheer amount of dedication and effort he has put into so many years in the clan world has reflected here in WildGuard.

After all, I believe a good clan leader IS his clan. The Wilderness Guardians have long been renowned as a community clan, and to this day, their reputation upholds. Being a friend and hopefully a future member, I find myself logging onto the forums frequently and periodically simply because every now and then a new post or topic arises from the large array of forums available even to clan friends, and there is much discussion and conversation to flourish from such. What conversation of leisure which arises from the IRC and TeamSpeak is always positive and polite, and the events on which the clan hosts and has allowed me to attend (Raids specifically) I can barely find fault with. I do not doubt WG's strength in wars and P2P, and the combination of skill, coordination and just enjoyment gives a thrill which no clan, save maybe the late cXs, comes close to producing.

Even at only level 50 combat, I still feel like part of the WG family... a younger brother still growing up who has much to learn and experience before he truly joins his elder siblings in the syndicate which is WG. Maybe not the most valuable and productive of WG's population, but are the FA's ever? Even so I still feel compelled to give my support and ensure the clan survives for as long as it deserves. I have given one donation to the clan already, produced a WG mousepad, and am looking forward to buying my T-shirt in the near future. I try my best to help sustain the community and atmosphere of friendship, teamwork, and maturity (Ok, maybe not so much maturity but hey, WG wouldn't be perfect without being imperfect) and put in mutual support physically for the clan when they need it. If I can help and WG asks, I will help.

I look up to Eugene and the leadership as parents, and the Guardians of WG as my brothers and sisters, with whom I can trust and be loyal and faithful to. Not just clanmates, but people who I know for who they are, and who will fight, die or stand victorious by my side throughout the life of WG. I can only hope that one day I will be honoured the rank of Guardian and will truly be able to experience what I believe is the most amazing community clan left in RuneScape. Though not just a clan... a home.

To end, there is one thing I can add which truly sums up WG in my opinion. Credit to Big Al 002 for the pic.

Friend of WG, Future Guardian

Wow, times have changed.

Since then, I reached my 100 combat goal, and I'm now 111+7. I applied, did my trial and got Guardian rank. I also got promoted to Higher Guardian. I still have my WG mousepad and use it regularly, and I bought my WG T-Shirt. I'm actually wearing it now. Hell, I've been wearing it for the past 3 days despite 2 showers, come to think of it - I really gotta get this thing washed ASAP. I gave a second donation and am planning a third, which'll get me to £100 + £15 for the shirt sent to Gene, and that should place me #2 at most donated IRL, second only to Gene himself.

I don't doubt our P2P aspect at all. I've attended countless raids, and I've fought, died, and shared victory with WG in our wars many times over. And I'm also hosting certain events soon which I won't say here because I don't know who can see this forum and who can't. Our community remains unchallenged. I've made so many friends and have done and will do stuff with WG that I never dreamt of doing 2 years ago (Eg. RuneFest, you dirty-minded lot tongue.gif). I've had, and will continue to have, many sleepless nights working on side projects for WG. And they've been recognised, through forum banners to IAs to testimonials from His Lordship: I could ask for nothing more.

I'm in a state of contentment. And it's times like these I can appreciate my surroundings. Try it. Look around you - look at the IRC of conversation, or at the forums of discussion, or at your friends list of WG on world 27, or at our CC and TS of activity. Our variety of events. Our website. Our history. Everything. This is WildGuard, and this is your home. I quote His Lordship - "Sieze it, and live it". You're in one of the most powerful syndicates of all time, and we're still going strong. It's something worth acknowledging and truly appreciating.

One year on, I still have my full respect and appreciation for WG, and nothing less. So thank you, WildGuard. You have given, give, and will continue to give myself and many others like me an experience which we cannot forget or be more thankful for. May our hearts stay strong, and our swords stay sharp.

Ah, another wall of text from the man himself wub.gif
Was a nice read, even a little inspiring.
You have an insane amount of dedication towards WG and that makes me wonder what more there is for me to discover about this clan. Let's hope I will be as passionate as you are about WG in the near future smile.gif

Keanu, I'm so glad you made WG your home. It's been a fun and interesting year with you here. Just remember Kyle sucks at belt buckle decisions, your hair looks great long, and they may say hatey things but they love you. OMG it is like a family. lol

Thank you Garrett and Dallar.

is the day you have stopped leading them.
They have either lost confidence that you can help them
or concluded that you do not care.
Either case is a failure of leadership.”
