The question: How many 5 year-olds could you take on at once? The specifics: - You are in an enclosed area, roughly the size of a football pitch. There are no foreign objects. - You are not allowed to touch any walls. - When you are knocked unconscious, you lose. When they are all knocked unconscious, they lose. Once a kid is knocked unconscious, that kid is "out." - I (or someone else intent on seeing to it you fail) get to choose the kids from a pool that is twice the size of your magic number. The pool will be 50/50 in terms of gender and will have no discernable abnormalities in terms of demographics, other than they are all healthy children. - The kids receive one day of training from hand-to-hand combat experts who will train them specifically to team up to take down one adult. You will receive one hour of "counter-tactics" training. - There is no protective padding for any combatant other than a standard-issue cup for your balls. * The kids are motivated enough to not get scared, regardless of the bloodshed. Even the very last one will give it his/her best to take you down. I set my magic number at 25. My brother is 4, so not far off, and at that height, they wouldn't be tall enough to inflict any blows to my head, making it VERY hard to knock me unconscious. As long as I stay on my feet, I'd be fine. 30, I think I could take on at once and stand a fighting chance. 40 would be pushing it, I'd be overwhelmed by sheer numbers and their training advantage.

This is kind of stupid. I mean 8, 9 or 10-year-olds would at least make it a little more interesting, but 5? They are practically babies. They are still developing motor skills, hand-eye coordination and cognitive abilities. You could try to teach 5-year-olds how to work together to take down a larger and stronger opponent, but these are the same kids that are learning the alphabet, how to count to 10, and the colors of the rainbow. There's no way they would even have the attention span to sit down and listen to someone instructing them in combat tactics. And sure, you say they will fight to the very last blah blah blah. I call bullshit. 5-year-olds break down and cry when they get a bee sting or cut their finger or skin their knee. How long do you think any of them will last in a real fight. After seeing their peers getting knocked the fuck out, they are going to run away. Simple as that. However, simply knowing HTH tactics is different from being able to apply them effectively, under pressure. With that said, there's a steep physical contrast that would obviously be an advantage in most cases, although I'm not the strongest or biggest person around. The determining factor would likely be stamina. I'm not what's generally perceived as a brawler, but I'm confident in my accuracy and speed as a striker. I'm also comfortable with my kicks, so, combined with the physical advantages as well as the tactical dynamics of kicking, I could possibly "takeout" one of them with each attack -- assuming they come in relatively low numbers at a time. My general combat effectiveness would probably be average, with a considerably high level of speed in physical ability. ... What's scary is that if I can resort to things like eye-gouging and biting, they could too. And I have a slight fear of being eaten alive by crazy, murderous 5-year-olds. Mental focus could be an issue. I have read this before and I think some things were different. The room I think was described as smaller - a football pitch is quite large, and if you're only taking on about 20-25, you could theoretically run around so that the faster ones get nearer to you, and take them out. It would be easy to take out each of them separately. I mean, you could give a couple hits to the temple (if you're really fucked up) or a few hits straight to the nose or jaw (if you're a little less fucked up). I think being cornered wouldn't be as bad as people think. I mean, if they immediately resort eye-gouging and biting, then yeah, it would be a lot about pain tolerance. If they first try to utilize their training then if you get cornered, a you could practically just knock their heads together hard enough that they go under. Toss in a few knees and some choke holds when you get a stray kid to conserve strength and energy. The size of the area really does play a huge role. If it's a football pitch you might be able to pick a few up and run away and then knock them out alone. Or even just run through a mod of them and throw some elbows and knees to anyone around you such that you don't stop running and you inflect damage over time. But I think 22-25 is my magic number. --------------------   | ||||||
