Since you decided to post the recap topic where I can't see it you fucking Nazi, I'll post my own.

After arriving in London meeting up with His Lordship (Eugene), Elyxiatic (Gary), WG Keanu (Keanu) and Tnuac (Mike) at the hotel, we made our way down to Tottenham Road Station to meet Sean Sabre (Sean) and to join a little gathering that had been arranged by Busycaz for the night before.

Incredibly, about 40-50 people turned up. Everybody was greeted politely and after no time at all players were sharing business cards, pens, partyhats and of course comparing levels! Male, female, 16 or 60, it didn't matter. We all got on shared a common interest and got on well.

We spent a while just chatting, getting to know each other, shaking hands and taking pictures before making our way down to a nearby bar where we would all grab drinks, converse and relax.

Unfortunately, some of our group couldn't get in because they were either underage or didn't have ID with them. So we were debating finding another venue as not to ruin the night for those guys when OneLuckyLady mentioned that she was actually able to get us all a ride on the London eye for free!

Of course we all gratefully jumped at the opportunity and after a short walk we arrived. The views were spectacular and if this post were a speech, I'd be raising a toast to OneLuckyLady right now for her generousity. It was on this that we actually met a player called Pazenon, who to most people would be just another random attendee. However, it actually turned out that he was an old, old, member of our clan, WG that we hadn't seen or heard from in what must have been at least 3 years!

From here we headded over to McDonalds and checked out the Namco arcade, all got talking, had a laugh and at this point most players retired home to get a good night of sleep in before Runefest.

However, not all of us went to bed. About 10 of us "rebels" decided to go and see if we could get into the Runfest venue (which obviously didn't work!) It was getting late and the bar we had intended to go to was already serving last orders so we all split up and started to make our way back to our hotels.

WG, who're all staying with each other, were about to get onto the last train home, when we realized that we were a man short. Mike had actually gone missing at some point. After trying several times to call him with no answer, we set off looking for him down the back alleys of London, praying that we weren't going to come across Mike getting gang raped or something.

We had to give up at around 1am and just get a Taxi back to the hotel. We were going to give him a few hours to make his own way to the hotel or call the police. At 3am we were getting worried and were about to call the cops when *knock knock*, Mike shows up with a big cheeky grin on his face. "I got lost lol".

---Saturday---

We were all up and ready early on Saturday despite the late night preiously. We went to meet up and have breakfast with a player we met last night called Andrew (Not Groedius, who is also called Andrew and turns up later.) It took a stupidly long time for them to cook our breakfasts so we didn't quite get chance to visit the modern art museum before Runefest - Boo-hoo, I know right?

Although we arrived at Vinopolis over an hour early, there were already tonnes of players queing outside the doors in the widest range of costumes imaginable. Some had skill capes, others were dressed as various NPCs and one guy even had full bandos. WG were all wearing our clan t-shirts, as were several other clans including Skiller's Empire.

While we waited to get in, we started to hand out our specially made WG pens. We came with just short of 1000 pens and managed to give almost all of them away throughout the day.

When the doors finally opened, there was a cheer and we began slowly working our way down and into the building. We were greeted with warm welcomes from what can only be described as a small army of J mods. I don't think any of us expected there to be quite so many of them. They were everywhere!

We made our way over to the gaming area, as the first area was crowded with people still trying to get through the doors. About 50 Alienware laptops were set up running runescape on full screen HD. (and now every player that used one wants to buy one. Infact I know of one player that actually did go and buy one the next day!) Completely lag free, although the mice were right handed and the scroll speed was a bit slow.

I tried a corp solo anyway despite the imperfect mouse settings, which resulted in me dying. Uhh... moving swiftly on.

The first insider sessioin, RuneScape Genesis with Andrew Gower himself was due to begin and a stampede of players all started to rush toward "Varrock". We got to take a look at RuneScape as it was in 2001 and even got to see some of Andrew's other projects from way back when he was just a student programming for food!

The second session, which was the one I had been egarly anticipating, was hosted by the Dungeoneering Development team. Those of you that know me will understand how keen I was to see this, being the leader of the DG Elites clan and formerly rank one myself. They went into great detail showing us how floors are generated, XP is calculated and gave us some sneak peaks into what is to be expected in the Warped floors later this year. It was quite amusing to see the bug list for Dungeoneering. There were literally thousands of them. Now I can see just why it took them so long to release it.

After this we ran back down to the computer area where we had signed up for a players vs mods clan war. It was something like 45 players vs 9 J mods and of course, the players won, but the J mods weren't far behind and somehow got over 100 kills! (me thinks some cheating was going on). I personally didn't die one, despite being targeted several times and got around 15 J mod kills including Mod MMG's.

The rest of the day went pretty smoothly, there were so many players and J mods in every direction. They were so easy to talk to. I must have shaken over 200 hands and have pictures with an uncountable number of players and mods.

Following the carnage, we pretty much relaxed. Worked the crowd a little, got to know people and just had a good time in general. The most important part of our night was approaching - The Golden Gnomes. As I'm sure you all know, Eugene (His Lordship) was a infalist in the animation category.

The entries were fantastic, every single finalist video made the crowd burst into laughter or a reaction that can only be described as *Whhooooaaaaa!!*. Unfortunately the Wilderness Guardians video didn't win a Gnome. Oh well, there's always next year.

We thought the day was pretty much coming to end as the final round of applause for the finalists, J mods and event organizers was being made when out of nowhere, Mark Gerhard announced that the party was far from over. In fact, there would be a party-room style drop party, a band (who were amazing I must say) and FREE DRINKS! After stopping to take a quick photo with Mod MMG we dashed downstairs to join the party where glasses of wine and bottles of beer were already being chugged.

For the next two hours the whole atmosphere changed and the vibe just like that you'd experience at any concert or music festival. Every body was drinking, laughing, exchanging details and rocking out on the dance floor. It was here that I got to meet several members of my clan (Dungeoneering Elites) that I didn't even know were attending including Saber Six (Erin), Simon, Neo, Castle Wars and many more! I apologize for the guys I missed out and the use of your RuneScape names, I didn't remember your real ones :$.

Before we knew it, the band were playing their final song and Eugene, Gary and Keanu had to leave the party to catch their train up north where they had booked a trip for the following day. After saying our goodbyes, taking our last few photos and necking a few more free beers we headed over to the Namco arcade with Sean, Mike, Pazenon, Erin and about 20 other attendees.

At this point I'd had a fair bit to drink and was a little out of it. But I was able to stay on my feet and not make myself look like too much of an asshat!

We spent a couple of hours at Namco. Some people played bowling, others just got talking and had a laugh. I was finally sobering up to the point where I could actually comprehend what was going on but by now, people were starting to leave so Mike and myself decided that we too would make our way back to the hotel where we uploaded a quick vLog of the day (which I then had to take down because the audio was screwed) and went to bed.

I was up at around 8am Sunday morning, packed and ready to go catch my train at 11. But SOMEBODY *looks at Mike* didn't get out of bed till 10am and I missed my train. This resulted in a 7 hour trip home and about 8 changes between various trains and buses. But oh well.

The whole weekend was an unforgettable experience and I'd thank every single member of staff and attendee for helping make this event exceed the already high expectations we had. I'll definately be going next year, no matter where in the world it's held. Thanks again guys and do stay in touch.

I would've loved to see Mike when he turned up at the door, lmao.

When you started talking about the free drinks and dancefloor I thought that would lead to someone pulling, that would've been so funny :L

Looks like you had a great time though!

So they confirmed another Runefest next year? Most likely in USA no doubt, then Australia *might* be third, which would be pretty cool.

If i save up enough cash, I wouldn't mind going to the US for a short holiday, 2-4 weeks i would hope

Thanks for representing WG on your trip to runefest, and great recap.
From the recap itself and the pictures I've seen, runefest more then passed my expectations. Hopefully next year they will have one in the states so I can go tongue.gif

Oh, so you didn't meet up with Gene and Gary on Sunday?

Just looking for any other info on what happened for Sunday, as it's technically part of the meeting.

And due I know how you feel about the trains. I missed mine and had to be back for a gig at 9:00. After like 6 train switches I got back at 8:40, and the taxi ride back home is 20 minutes. Fucking lucky tongue.gif
