Hiya everyone. Recently I've started donating blood and I'd just like to spread the word that It is really easy and you just have to meet a few requirement to save a few lives per donation.

Here is the link for the site in Australia:
Donate
Just google blood donations in your country to have a look at the requirements.

Why not aye?

Much love, Joshy

Lol, I'm in the US Army, Infantry, deployed to Afghanistan and I still get freaked out and almost pass out when people take my blood. Doesn't have much to do with manliness.

Edward Cullen wants your blood.
Speaking of which, the whole blood donation is a vampire conspiracy.

I fear the idea of giving blood as I have never had any kind of blood work done. I am totally for the concept, and would love to give blood, but it is just the barrier of doing it for the first time.

They have blood drives twice a year at my school, where we have huge turn outs of people doing it. I might take the opportunity in the spring to do it with some friends just to break the barrier.

Yeah i've donated three times so far (since i'm only 18 and you can only donate when you're 17), so yeahhh, i really would recommend it.

It takes so little of your time and the results are really life-saving, literally.

The fainting thing is just psychological. If you think you are going to faint you are more likely to. Just go in there and give up your juices (blood only...).

OOH PLUS - not sure how it is in other countries, but in the UK you get free biscuits, drinks and stuff after you donate - YUMMY NOMS!

Donate blood, donate money, donate organs...

If I ever get cancer, I'ma walk into a hospital and say "See that machine I paid for, that blood I gave and that kidney I donated? Transplant, bitch."

I don't know if that's the case anywhere else but over here you have an option to become a 'paid' blood donor, you get paid $125 for each donation you make.

Lol you do know that you're only allowed to donate one unit of blood every 3-4 months or something like that don't you? But yeah getting paid for that is pretty cool nevertheless.

I have heard about getting paid for it but it's really bad for a society to resort to that.

Umm no? First of all to clear things up there's only one hospital over here that does this and it's part of a multibillion dollar oil company called Aramco (Google it)… if they have tons of money they can do whatever the fuck they want with it, let alone spend it on something useful.

And it's not like they've "resorted" to paying blood donors whenever they donate blood because they have a shortage in blood units or something, it’s just a method of encouraging more people to donate in order for them to increase their supply; it would never hurt to have more you know.

The Australian red cross blood foundation is incredibly low on blood, I was hearing rumors they had enough for 3 days, getting paid for blood is lame. Be proud of donate for free.

I've recently signed up for bone marrow donation too.
