For those people who are employed...
I want to be a singer.... but it seems like this crazy 16 year old dream
... -.-

anyways
when you picked your job, why did you pick it?
are you working because you want the money?
is it because you enjoy doing the job?

It was the easy option.

I have days that I do, and days that I don't enjoy it.

The money is not worth the stress.

I hope one day to find a job in something I love doing AND get paid for doing it. That is everyone's dream isunt it?

First main job was on the back of my Masters Degree, really enjoyed it and good money, but the funding ran out.

Next was a change of career, money was shit, and job was shit too so I resigned.

Now I'm working as an Analyst for Santander, job is really interesting and it's in this field I would like to stay, but for more money of course. Lots of stress with this job and the money really doesn't justify it.

I'm still at university, but I wanna participate in this conversation!

I'm planning on training to do a PGCE (the qualification that you need to teach in the UK) after my degree, maybe at secondary level... maybe primary, i really don't know.
I'm currently doing lots of work experience in different schools + with different ages to find out.

If I do decide to become a teacher, it will be because I enjoy working with children. I don't really know why I want to teach... but I guess it's because a lot of kids are so full of life and it would be cool to impart knowledge to others! neko2.gif

For me. Enjoyment > Money. (at that level)... i mean i'm not saying i'd work as a volunteer and not get paid because I enjoyed it... there's a line/balance.
Money is ... important, but not lots, enough to get by if you will, it'd be horrible, in my opinion, to be stuck in a job I hated, even if it was for the money...

High demand, massive salary.

I work in government, particularly with network security.

You should love what you do or you'll be the person who comes to work with an automatic rifle

Billions of people work a job they don't like so they can support their family.

So.... I guess your wrong?

While I'm still at uni I have worked at every oppurtunity I have had during my degree.

Personally I chose my job (and hence degree) because it was a subject I loved during school and it is one that is in fairly high demand which is always good.

I did find the specific branch of work that Im doing (I'm currently a GIS Analyst) through a version of paid work experience that I have done for the last 4 summers and that is probably what has shaped my degree so far.

It's not a career that is considered hugely high paying or anything like that, but it is one that I can see myself enjoying as well as being paid enough to be able to have a nice lifestyle. In general though I would say no University degree would gaurantee someone a job that is going to make them 'millions' or anything like that, to get into work like that you've really got to be have one of these:
  • Have lots of Experience
  • Be willing to take a risk (such as starting your own buisness)
  • Have a unique idea that you can afford to market or whatever
So yeah, My job gets me a good wage and hopefully will one day lead to a well paid manager level position, but I've got a whole career to develop before I get there neko2.gif

Well maybe singing is out of the question what about producing or something in that sort of line. If singing doesn't work out it shouldn't mean music is out of the question. I am interested in going into Producing music. A dream of mine.
