I've read one of them, but generally I don't read many fantasies.....

I thought it was pretty damn from what I can recall, though I haven't read it for a while so it is only faint memories neko2.gif

Don't you mean Christopher Paolini?
That Inheritance trilogy is Eragon, Eldest, Brisingir, not sure if same thing.
If not, I do recommend them
A lot of criticism over it, but I found them enjoyable anyway.

Other Recommendations:
The Wardstone Chronicles by Joseph Delaney
The Chronicles of Narnia by CS Lewis (Books are MUCH better than the films)

Oh I have Narnia too.
Inheritence is a Cycle by Paolini and there's an earlier one by Jemisin which I consider to be better.

"The Silmarillion"
J.R.R. Tolkien

Still need to get that.

Maybe the Garth Nix series that includes Sabriel might tickle your fancy ai know i love them. NOt the most grown up of books but there a good read. In addition the Phillip Pullman books with The golden Compass etc are worth a good read tbh. There not exactly kids books tbh.

CHronicles of the Raven you might like bound a random group of heroes
D&D kinda style quest but its a whole series. I love them.

I did notice you did not have any James bond books at all..

I've read all of the Wheel of Time books, Songs of Fire and Ice and some of the Dark Tower series.
I'd recommend checking out "The Name of the Wind" and "The Wise Man's Fear" both part of the Kingkiller series (he's a slow writer)

I have a lot of those, I found a really good book and sequel by Patrick Rothfuss its The Kingkiller Chronicle.

They are excellent.

The Silmarillion is one of my favorite books of all time.

I deeply regret ever even getting started on Robert Jordan's Wheel of Time series (since he died before writing the final book)
I understand another author wrote the final but after so many of them I just couldn't be bothered.

Robin Hobb - I have not read any of Hobb's books, but Tony recommends them highly.

Daniel Abraham - no idea.

Robert Jordan, Wheel of Time - A very lengthy and convoluted fantasy epic. I read about six of the books, and to be honest, cannot recall what happens at all - but it was enjoyable.

Terry Goodkind - I've seen the name many times, but not read any of Goodkind's books.

J. V. Jones - no idea.

Brandon Sanderson - no idea.

Tad Williams - Read a few, wasn't hugely enthusiastic about them, but that must have been back in year 9 or so.

C.S. Friedman - no idea.

K.J. Parker - no idea.

Brent Weeks - no idea.

David Eddings, The Belgariad - I read this series maybe a hundred times over my lifetime, and thoroughly enjoyed it each and every time. The finest work of fantasy I have ever read. Even better, if you like it Eddings has produced another twenty or so novels of equal brilliance. Disregard his last series, though (I can only recall the name Crystal Gorge). It was a little too self-indulgent.

George R.R. Martin, A Game of Thrones - Recently made into a HBO series, I read the first book but was somewhat overwhelmed with the constant changes of setting. Upon reflection I suspect the purpose was to unify multiple perspectives into one vast epic conflict, but it was too much for me. Again, this was many years ago. I shall give it another go sometime.

Stephen King - The master of horror, apparently. I have read one or two of his books, and they lived up to that moniker. Definitely worth a shot.

J.R.R. Tolkien, The Silmarillion... Well. Let me just say there is a reason most authors don't publish their background material. The Silmarillion is a rambling story that reads like a history book, with characters appearing for a paragraph or three, then vanishing. I could not keep up with the quantity of information presented to me, and gave up somewhere around page 120.

Steven Erikson - I only vaguely recall reading a book by Erikson, but my impression is that I enjoyed it.

Raymond E Feist, The Riftwar Saga: Along with Eddings, Feist defined my reading habits from childhood. A brilliant story with plenty of depth. If you like this I strongly recommend his collaboration with Janny Wurts, the "Mistress of the Empire" series, as I found that trilogy to be superior even to the Riftwar Saga (though as that series references this one, definitely read this one first). He has also written maybe fifteen more books in the same world, so there's plenty of further material for you there.

Fiona McIntosh - No idea.

______________________________

As regards further reading suggestions, I cannot recommend Eddings or Feist sufficiently to express my admiration for those two authors. Beyond that, I'll have to dig through my reading history... We'll chat about it when you come over. I really have read WAY too many books...

Updated my booklist to show my further purchases.

Recommendations I did not buy after looking into:

Wardstone Chronicles - Looks like it's for kids
Paolini's Inheritance Cycle - Maybe, once the last book is released and I can buy the set
Percy Jackson Series - Just not to my taste, a little to kiddish
Darren Shan - Not into vampires
La motre de Athur - Will get after I finish The Once and Future King, the definitive Arthur story
The Road, The Magicians, The Host - Too many hits. Couldn't narrow it down to a specific book.
Hunger Games - I'm thinking about it. Looks a bit childish.

I'd recommend Hunger Games, I enjoyed it. Unfortunately the movie adaption seems to be toning down the violence A LOT, which imo, made it such a good book.
