So my sister decided to go to Denmark for a few days with some friends from University because she has a friend who lived there.

6 people were meant to be going and they were all from the same university, all knew each other, my sister being one of them.

One guy booked the flights to Denmark and printed off all the details including the boarding passes on his computer.
My sister and one other friend were staying nearer the airport on their own, the other 4 were due to travel down to the airport from the university early in the morning by train.

The four were on the train, including the guy who had all the boarding passes, HOWEVER he left his bag on the train which contained all the boarding passes (apart from my sister's and her friend's boarding passes which they already had themselves)

The guy realises he has left his bag on the train and then has to take another train to the lost luggage departement at King's Cross Station to retrieve it and very luckily does get his bag back and all the boarding passes.

The remaining four rush to the airport (by now very late) and having these boarding passes means they can skip check in and therefore go straight to the gate, and so they do so, meeting my sister and her friend there.
5 of the boarding passes are all good, except the guy's one IS NOT and he is told that he has to go through check in for it to be valid, however they are too late and they have missed check in.

The guy therefore cannot go on the same flight and so one of the five offers to stay with him (her name is Katie) and they try to get flights the next day.

Further problems ensue, since the prices of the tickets to get them to Denmark the next day would be £200 each and the two students were unable to afford this ridiculous sum of money and therefore could not go to Denmark at all.

The girl (Katie) had to stay near the airport in her house in Essex because the four friends who had gone to Denmark were due to be staying with Katie in her house when they returned for one night before going back to University.
Her parents were away and the guy went back to University, leaving Katie all alone for the whole weekend in Essex, feeling utterly miserable that she was missing out on her holiday to Denmark.

Should the girl have used her valid boarding pass and gone with her other friends or should she have done what she did and stayed with her male friend (they did not know the tickets would be so expensive the next day)?

What would you have done?

Damn, that sucks.

Well firstly the 6 of them should've realised the bag was missing. (Even though I have a habit of losing/forgetting stuff).

To answer the question ethically right (lol, let's go deep), what was the problem with the boarding pass? Was it his fault at all? In the long run it doesn't really make that much difference.

If the guy went back to uni and left kate anyway, there was no point in her missing out. I could understand it if they'd stayed together. I don't think the guy feels any better with her staying, because he then feels guilty about making her miss out, which makes it even worse.

But, if they could've got a cheap flight the next day, someone should've stayed with him (because it wouldn't make much different).

So in hindsight, i'd say no there was no point in her staying behind. But when you don't know the circumstances, you immediately try to support a friend.

Precisely that's what she did.
Tbh I dunno how you can forget something of such importance (a bag) on a train, laugh.gif

I think the boarding pass thing was his fault , but even so I dunno what I would have done...

So she misses the flight and loses money so she can stay with her friend , but he goes off to uni instead of doing the same when they realise they can't go to Denmark.
