Look guys, WG is in a tough spot and you will find NO ONE who tries to tell you different. None of us are here to say "We are doing great just calm down" the fact is that we have some flaws that need worked out.

That being said, the answer is not to leave, the answer is NEVER to leave. I know each of you is a good person at heart who is hear to help. We all want the best for WG. Leaving does nothing positive, all it does is create more drama and turmoil and keep the snowball rolling.

Now Council is a big part of what I feel can be the solution to this problem, and we have some really good plans for WG, but leadership cannot ever do it all.

We need events, we need to rebuild friendships, we need to get people back together and not apart.

Teamspeak-
Please make an effort to be on teamspeak more. It is as easy to idle in as IRC is and requires no extra effort in my opinion. TS is important because it keeps us accountable to each other. It makes friendships bigger and better, it makes community happen on a more personal level. So if at all possible, get a mic, get on TS, and simply sit there and talk to people. Whether about serious topics, or just about RS or whatever, it's all a positive thing.

Events-
Please for the love of god host events. I realize we have event leaders and I realize that their job is to make events for you. That's well and good and as council we are certainly going to work to motivate them. However MEMBERS CAN HOST EVENTS. All you need to do is say "Hey let's go to W141 CWA and have fun, host a trawler event, invite people to your house. I don't care, HOST SOMETHING. We are a Runescape clan and we need to be closer together in game. So please do something positive and host an event.

IRC-
The quickest way to make a friend is to pm them. It doesn't matter what the circumstances. If you say "Hey how are you" that's great. If you say "Did you make it to the war this weekend? I did so badly" then that's fine too. If you want to say "Wow what a shit council member Tmal is" well that's better than nothing. We are all in here to befriend people. There is no one in this clan too good or too small to get a PM and to say hello. Do your part and work on the community.

Now the council is doing some positive things too.

1. Applications -
If you have seen our new applications this is one of the things that is already changed in the last couple days. Introductions have become a form. Too many times has a potential member gotten away with saying "Hey I'm new, nice to meet you" and left it at that. Well 90% of the time that person goes inactive and that's the end of it. The application has been made a bit more difficult as well. We require more effort, have lengthened it, and more importantly App Managers have been told to be prepared to decline people if needed. No longer are we going to be the joke of a clan that lets everyone in. We will accept members who add to the community and it will be a positive thing.

2. Activity -
Abs is in the process of dealing with it now. Basically we are going to try and solve inactivity first by salvaging inactive members who have "Forgotten" about WG for lack of a better term. If that doesn't work out, then we are prepared to do a sweep if needed, but we are done pulling 10% to events. If you read this and feel like you've been slacking a bit, it's time to step it up.

3. Events -
We are in the process of arranging more Australian events. Our Aussie friends don't get enough fun and good times and it's time that they get at least a somewhat equal portion of the events.
In addition to simply make aussies happy is not enough. We have been having far too many wars and not enough skill/community events. We need to tone down the full out wars and tone up the community building events. We will be working on more miniwars as well for practice, but these will still be used sparingly, key right now is community.

4. War Skills -
Our activity isn't up to par, that's for sure, however on top of that our war skills have been lacking. All we seem to care about is binding, and we don't even do that well. It's time that we bind like we should, tank like pros, snipe like COD veterans, and use tactics to our advantage. We are going to start hosting twice a week war practice sessions in order to build skills and we will be requiring at least all trials to attend monthly. Members should go as well, and might be required.

5. Tactics -
We have been relegated to only doing melee + bind fights, and it is turning into a hell. Let's branch out a bit and try to have some fun with other things. What's wrong with ranging or fire blasting if it gives us the advantage? How about some creative tactics? What about the occasional P2P fight? All of these should happen now from more on. We need more variety.

Other stuff is going on too, and I would LOVE to answer questions if you have any. However this is what I got for now.

Keep your heads up and be prepared for some work and some change.
Together we can do great things.
Separated we fail.
Which one you choose is up to you...

On a different note if you guys ever want to hang out in my TS, you are welcome. There are a lot of WoW ies there and some good laughs as well.

I think we all need to take a huge breath and relax for a minute.

Yes it's obvious that we're in a current community crisis right now and it seems that a lot of people are panicking about it. Chill out, the solution is something every single one of us can easily do. Congratulate someone when they get a level. Say hi or hello to those who just enter the chat. Get to know someone you've never met before, start up a conversation.

There are so many things that all of us can do to help mend this current problem.

Everything else is being worked on, don't worry. It won't happen in the blink of an eye but it's coming.

i agree that the answer is not to leave... to leave shows you give up... stay and fight the fight because wg will come from out this slump to be bigger and stronger because of it... just up and leaving dose nothing positive i agree... its up to leaders and members alike to bind together to fix tis situation... not just the leaders but everyone as a whole... teamspeak is a great idea... everyone should get on it all the time whenever they can... it helps build and keep great friendships... events are great and needed... this is allmost a number one thing we need to help out the clan... again irc is another great way to get to know people and talk... the applications thing was a great idea... smart job on that... activity is the most important aspect of a clan if we have un-active or missing members take them off the runehead list and clan fourms... australian events is a great idea... im willing to get online anytime to go do an event and group thing with our australian family... i agree with everything here and support wg in this and will do everything i can to make sure this happens... immolatus2

I think along with community, we REALLY need to work on structure. We should re-implement the old idea of having weekly events, possibly even daily events. I mean, we used to have raids throughout the week, every week and it was great because you really got to know the people that you were raiding with.

Now we can't really do raids anymore, but we can do Duel Tournament events, CWars, CWA, Fight Pits, Blast Furnace, Trawler, whatever.

Just SOMETHING that can be a basis for the week, much like a schedule for the clan.

The trouble with relying on the rest of the clan to come up with events is that people can sign up, but not show up and vice versa.

That's all I've got to say right now.

I think it is a good thing that you made this post and gave us all a heads up on not only what the council is doing, but also what the members need to do to make WG better. Very nice post. Thanks.

I have a couple of things to say. Firstly, I noticed that the council has changed the application process, and I like it a lot better now. Secondly, I agree that more non-tertiaries should start hosting events. Third, I understand that Aussies need more events, but at the same time I was not very impressed when, about two weeks ago, I hosted an Aussie event, only to find that all who attended were American. I had to go out of my way to host an event at 1 AM in my timezone for the Aussie members, and I was a little angry, to say the least, when none showed up. I'm not saying that this is consistent, but at least one could've came.

Thank you very much for this topic Tmal.
It really made me feel like if WG will go straight back up again.

I've always tried to do all of those things and it has helped me out a lot.
I've got sooo many friends in WG now and the friends really make me want to push it harder for each day and come to as many events as possible and do as good as I can all the time.

Try it out.

Very inspiring post, Tmal. hash.png

I feel this is a time when members show their true colours.. the amount of people leaving is just ridiculous and just shows the loyalty some of these people had.

The first step is to now when you are falling, the second step is to pick yourself up off the floor. WG can pick itself up with effort from everyone within the clan.
