This is a very in-depth post so please hold with me as you read through this.

--------------------------------

Over the past few months WG as a clan has lost many of it's important factors, we have lost:

- A leader (Due to stepping down on his part)
- The Community Aspect
- Respect from other clans
- Respect from other members

Thinking back, we will notice that WG has gone down a slope, and is now in what some people call a 'mini slump'. WG was originally built up of 4 sectors when i joined, each with it's own purpose. These were the Community sector (for members who wished to join WG just purely for it's family aspect), The skills sector (for those members who did not wish to fight and wanted to do more within the clan), the fighting sector (for those who wished to help fight for this clan) and last but not least the combined sector which was for all 3 sectors, this sector was for those people who wanted to fight for this clan, help support this clan and to feel as a family. These times have changed, people have left, people have joined and most of all people are realising that the community has diminshed.

This maybe being sorted out by the council, and i understand that but this post is purely to make people understand why people wish everything to be supported, to rebuild the foundations as such.

Now on to the History:

Equivalent Exchange states that something of equal value most be lost to gain something back, this is the only law of equivalence and can be compaired to many other aspects of everyday life. Here are a few examples of these aspects:

Pandora's Box

user posted image

For those that are up to date with their Greek mythology, Pandora's box was a box that Zeus gave to Pandora with instructions that she not open it; she gave in to her curiosity and opened it; all the miseries and evils flew out to afflict mankind. Many people died and this was the first time Equivalent Exchange took it's toll, because pandora opened the box and unleased all that which is bad she shut it before she could realise what was the bottom. This was a thing called hope, a hope that everything bad would be sucked back into the box. Once this had been done the box was taken some place never to be seen and heard from again.

Due to Pandora opening such a box she lost many lifes, but gained the hope that was needed to rebuild life, start anew and become what we are today.

Mother Nature

user posted image

Have you ever thought that the major weather changes are mother nature's way of saying "It's time we rebuild life, start anew"? Some people believe this, Pagan's believe this aspect more than anything else as they worship mather nature as a God. Storms, Floods, Tsunami's, Fire's, and Death all mean one thing, that it's time to sit back and think about beginning a new life, a life away from your past. This can be said with many relationships to, when someone is heart broken they want to move on and not linger in the past.

QUOTE (Renoldojr10)
Mother Nature will begin itself once again, a fire will burn down a forest and make it into nothing. Bushes and flowers will grow and then slowly trees grow here and there. Then a forest develops and the process starts all over.

The Wilderness Guardians

user posted image

The Wilderness Guardians was once a great and dedicated clan, towards many aspects of family and of Runescape it's self. The secotrs where a hit, but could not be implimented for a long time as it was time to change, The Wilderness Guardian's once great community has diminished as such and become nothing more than a simple clan without the aded family aspect, many people from outside the clan can see it, but we shall move onto other aspects.

Old schoolers are losing their place within the clan, people are feeling deprived of such a great clan, and being in the group/family. People believe that the Wilderness Guardians is a family, yet people are being demoted left right and center? I am not digging at anyone so please bare with me.

It has come to my attention that a few peoples attitudes are down right rude, The parth situation and lacy situation was a prime example. I was told that runescape is a game, so why is real life threats and 'sexual topics' getting leaked onto the forum? Actions of a certain member cost him his place as Emeritus and a member of WG. He has been banned and the reason can be found in the hall of shame.

Over the past few months the community has lost alot of intrest, all though this is a top priority for the council they need your help to. You can do this by respecting those above you, if you don't like someone, don't publicly flame them, as i also said, some damn right awful things were said about cutting, this is beyond believe and can have a major impact on this clan as it mostly has today.

If someone is flaming you then tell a council member/leader, if someone tells you to go die dont retaliate, tell a council member/leader. The teamspeak chat which dale organised hit alot of points too, points that will be addressed and dealt with. The wilderness guardians is a family.

Definition of a family:

QUOTE
- An association of people who share common beliefs or activities; "the message was addressed not just to employees but to every member of the clan family".

If we cannot work together then this clan will fall and i know alot of members do not want this, there are always gonna be some odd apples in the bunch, ones who do more bitching then salvation. This clan needs to build back it's foundations.

Remember that if you are caught flaming then no doubt you will be punished accordingly, if there is one thing that WG will NOT tolerate is personal flames, telling someone to go die, go cut themselves or to get 'fucked' is below the belt and will ALWAYS have a bad influence on this clan in the long run.

One ex-primary leader and council had this to say:

QUOTE (Dorcha3377)
There are always places we should not go to, or visit. Hopefully this will be made a law. Respect for the individual.

Equivalent Exchange in the Wilderness Guardian's aspect is difficult to see so i shall enlighten people's minds. The Wilderness Guardian's lost a leader, due to him stepping down, WG's community has diminshed and normal members do not feel welcome. The council and the new leader have tried everything in there power to prevent this. Now to explaination:

Even though the Wilderness Guardians have lost many of their well known aspects such as old schoolers, the sectors and the community they have gained more members. Though these members do not really know about the old ways they are struggling within the clan because of WG's past. The council and a small few of members are putting in alot of effort to this clan, and though Equivalent Exchange states that:

QUOTE
Something of equal value you must be lost to gain something

This does means that we need all of our members to pick up the slack, there is no point just letting the Council do their jobs, we need to all get involved for the clan, to bring back what loving community we had and all the aspects that WG was known for.

Excelent post.
I only saw one thing wrong.

WG wasn't originally split into 4 Sectors, it was as it is now with no sectors.

Nonetheless. Amazing post, I love the concept of 'Equivalent Exhange' being melded into it.

I agree Every member can help by planting seeds <333

Change happens for a reason and sometimes it is a long time til we know what that reason is

Sectors were actually only part of WG for a very short time, they were only a part of WG from late 2006/early 2007 to late 2007/early 2008.

My dear dear ones. All this fancy talk boils down to three things: (Very well said by Simon, I need to add.)

1) Treat others as you would be treated.

2) What goes around comes around, so be careful what you push out into the world or into the clan.

and most importantly,
3) Love one another, with infinite patients and caring. For in giving only then, can one receive.

Be happy, think happy thoughts and share those positive energies with each other.

When you read something believe it to be good, before thinking it evil.

It's true WG's community may be deteriorating, it was a nice post Simon. The pictures made it seem long =p. It's good to know that someone knows what WG needs, its not complicated, be a polite courteous member and have a little fun along the way. WG will be back on top soon.

First of all, the sectors worked but they were extremely limited.

The only reason people liked them was if they were in the community or in the skilling sector was because they could say: "Oh theres a war? Nevermind im skilling/community i don't have to come."

Onto the old schoolers, i would say roughly about 80% of the people bitching about it would be Ex-members, this is because the vast majority left us! If you dont forget when lordy almost killed the clan in december ages ago everyone left.

In Jordan106's tribute video of Wg he put the people leaving as a snowball effect, the highly ranked people and the faces of Wg left. Then the other members began to follow en suite to try and leave and they have the nerve to come back and say "Wg community is dead"? They are the most to blame!

I am sorry if anyone finds the post a bit, harsh, but i am honestly sick to death of people posting rants about Wg. If we don't have enough events, organize your own, if you want a War, ask a raid leader or Rob to get us one.

Change is made by action, not by people typing essays to try and get people to change.

Pretty much Agree with what Cam said

It's easy to point out our weakness but fixing it is a whole new level.

Correct, Both Mother Nature and Pandora's box are Mythology, but they are examples i chose to show how Equivalent Exchange works.

actually, it was hera who gave the box to pandora.

Anyway, we are going through this Equivalent exchange thing. We jsut ened to remember that the clan is still WG and that our friends will stay in touch even after they leave. The best way to bring em back is to succeed as a clan.

Certainly worth the read and I thank you Simon for enlightening everyone about the cycle of WG. That is what happens to every clan and with our Friendship circles in WG being the strongest they have, we have that process going in our clan too.

If something breaks down, a repair man is usually there to fix it, just like how if our Community is declining, you would expect Leaders to do everything they can to fix it. Once again, please respect as they are trying their hardest to listen to every single suggestion and rant.

Wg has never fallen, thanks to the community, without the current and past members will to keep WG alive, Wg is nothing. The members is what matters most, the Guardians & Emeritus. Taking your opinion on things is what Wg is about.
