Requirements: A slayer level of 56 is required to kill this monster.

You do NOT have to finish the Path of Glourphie quest found HERE to kill these monsters, only be granted access to the Slayer sewers. You must also complete the following quests:

- The Eye's of Glourphie
- The Grand Tree quest.

This will grant you access to the Spirit Tree's.

Items Required:

user posted image

Inventory: Crystal Chimes are a MUST!

user posted image

How to get there:

Take the Spirit tree from the north-east of the G.E to the Mountains east of the poison waste, from the spirit Tree head west until you come to a red exclamation mark on the Mini-map, enter the sewers and then climb up the ladder.

The Dungeon:

How to kill the Warped Tortoises:

user posted image

When you reached the sewers and enter, up the first set of ladders there will be 2 warped tortoises, these respawn fairly quickly (every 13 seconds). Use the Chimes on the Tortoise and attack, they will be immune if you do not use the chimes on these monsters.

Summoners:

As many may already know, the Tortoise shells are used for battle tortoise pouches, which hold 18 items at a time (Requires 68 Summoning). These monsters have a higher drop rate of the shells than those of battle tortoises found at the K'zhard battlefield or the Gnome stronghold.

Drops:

* Gold: 30-199
* 100%: Big bones
* Weapon: Rune Pickaxe, Mithril warhammer, Rune javelin(5), Adamant axe, Rune warhammer, Dragon spear
* Armour: Mithril platebody, Iron kiteshield
* Runes/Arrows: Law(3-6), Air(31-42), Death(5), Earth(75)

* Charms(1) Gold, Green, Crimson, Blue

Example:

user posted image

It is easy to get a fair amount of Gold Pieces from these monsters, you can achieve 50K - 180K every hour depending on the drops you recieve. The most common drops being Mithril Platebody, Adament Axe, Mithril Warhammer, Rune pickaxe, Rune Warhammer and the Tortoise shells.

Prices:

As there is a Spirit Tree to the north-east of the Grand Exchange which takes you to and from the slayer sewer, this is great for those who don't want to clog up bank space as they can sell straight away on the Grand Exchange. Here are some of the prices of the expensive drops on which you can recieve.

What are Perfect Shells?:

Warped Tortoises drop Perfect shells, You can either Alch the item, or trade it to Barlak for 500 crafting experience and 600gp. Barlak can be found in the Goblin City of Dorgesh-Kaan (Shown below at the letter E on the ground floor)

user posted image

His house is located in the western area of the city. If you bring him a Long bone, he will reward you with 1k coins and 1.5k construction experience. However if you bring to him one of the more rare Curved bones, he will reward you with 2k coins and 2.2k construction experience provided you have level 30 construction or above. He will also give you a payment of 600 coins if you bring to him a Tortoise shell, Snail shell, or a Perfect snail shell. However, if you manage to bring him a Perfect snail shell, he will also reward you with a 500 crafting experience bonus.

Frequently Asked Questions:

1. Is it wise to take super sets?

Answer: Super set's are not needed here as they are fairly easy to kill, it takes around 20 seconds to kill one and an extra 13 seconds for it to respawn again.

2. Is it wise to take Guthans?

Answer: The only time to take guthans down here is if you are camping for experience. The tortoises drop around 2 - 3 tortoise shells a time so if you are in it for the Gold Pieces it would be wise to not take Guthans as you will have an extra 3 inventory spaces to fit in a few extra drops.

I think it might be useful to take like a super attack and strength, cause you can easily make the money back. I wouldnt know though, i've never killed them before

For those who are lower attack and strength, take a super attack and super strength. Taking one of each will last you long enough, and if you're banking a lot, the 2 places they take up won't matter as much.

Not every one has 99 att or 90 str. If/when I do this, I will take pots. But then again, I have the pots to spare or waste. happy.gif

It does not matter, they are only level 96 and are fairly easy to kill, i have seen level 103's killing these monsters with ease. Not everyone can waste GP on potions, so there really is no point. The highest this monsters can hit is 10.

Cool Simon I may have to add this to quests to do. Looks like great idea and your guide is awesome. Thanks for taking the time to do that.

I think for my own security, I would have to take pots for the first time. I have them made and it is always best to be safe. Like Wind I'm not all that strong yet. I usually take either a 70+ friend or a ring of life most everywhere.

Hey your my friend and I know you have 70+ prayer. tighthug.gif Luvs ya Simon.

Rachel, after you get the quest done, want to go kill some? My prayer is over 70. happy.gif And with my defence... They probably can't hit me too hard.

As said previously, their highest hit is 10, I have 90 defence and i rarely recieve damage, they also give good melee exp and drop big bones for prayer. Potions and Prayer are not really required as they are not aggressive so do not constantly attack you.

They drop 1-3, and are rather good actually.
My advice:
Take some alching runes with you for alchs, and a terror bird pouch if you can. The rest food and the chimes. Don't bother with the dragon dagger, your main weapon is enough. When you get there, summon your bird, shove the food in it. Then kill until you get as many as you want. Pull food and store shells in your bird as needed.
Note: Perfect shells cannot be stored in the bird.
