Geography's pretty diverse, and hugely misunderstood. Let me break it down (cos I know you're eager to hear it). It can probably be divided into physical, human, and envrionmental geography.

Environmental is self-explanatory. Its all about envrionmental processes and the effect of humans. Like soil profiles, succession of areas to support plant life (like, turning from marram grass to oak trees), food chains, climate change, and the effects human have on the environment.

Human is a mix of many things and very diverse. It could be about cities - how different processes occur like suburbanisation, the difficulty businesses face in the CBD, development of the centre and diverisification to other services (like butchers to computer shops), the difference of cities between the economically developed world and the developing world. Could be about LEDCs, the development of shanty towns, rural-urban migration, different housing schemes. Then there's agricultural side - food excess, food shortages, Genetic modification, organic farming, crop rotation etc etc

Physical's what I find more interesting. Its basically the processes and landforms you find in the natural world. To name a few - large scale erosion by glaciers, sustainability of cold environments, effects of volcanoes/earthquakes, strategies to protect settlements from them, the different processes of rivers, the science of climate change and human's action to it, case studies and science behind tropical storms, tornadoes, weather systems.

I've just scratched the surface of it but that's the basic content of geography. It combines a number of sciences to explain how the world's landscape was formed, and is changing, how the atmosphere is changing, and how humans interact with the planet.

Ooooh sweet. So instead of the actual composition of the Earth(Geology) it's more of the inhabitants and cultures? A basic definition could possibly be the study of the surface flora/fauna and their interactions? Epic stuff though, GL with it. biggrin.gif
