Ok, this is my first real guide in a while, so there's a good chance I missed something. In any case, here it goes.

This guide is for training melee combat skills such as Attack, Strength, Defense.

The shortened version is that you'll be training in the Chaos Tunnels. It is multi-combat down there so it can be dangerous. However, I've found that the experience is well worth the risk, and precautions can be taken to make the risk you're taking much smaller. You will be using Prayer Potions, Super Attack and Stregnth Potions (the combination commonly known as "Pure Sets"). You'll be Praying "Protect from Melee" and the best melee boosting prayers you have.

The monsters you'll be fighting are:

Zombies: Level-40 (38 HP)
Skeletons: Level-77 (80+ HP)

Zombies do not show up on the Zybez Monster Database. However, I've been able to 1-hit them while training there, I believe they have 38 HP.

You'll be getting most of your EXP from the Skeletons.

____________________________________________________________________________________________________

To get you to read further:

I've been able to get 100k EXP each time I come here. I average 95k EXP per trip here. It's not a solid EXP/hr ratio, but the amount of time you spend down there is related to your Prayer level and your bonus. In any case, it's a great source of fast, albeit expensive experience.

____________________________________________________________________________________________________

Here comes the rest of the guide:

So, to start off some recommendations:

Recommendations:
Attack: 70+ (to wield an Abyssal Whip or Saradomin Sword)
Defense: 70+ (for when you've run out of potions and Prayer Points)
Strength: 70+ (just to deal decent amounts of damage)
Hitpoints: 75+ (so you can survive if ever you forget to replenish your Prayer Points)

____________________________________________________________________________________________________

Here is the set-up I use:

user posted image

The Proselyte is just for the bonus to your Prayer so you can last longer as you'll be using some very high level prayers that will suck up a lot of your Prayer Points very quickly. The same goes for the Guthix Book of Balance. The Barrows Gloves and Dragon Boots are for the strength bonus they provide so you can hit harder. Other equipment such as the Helm of Nietznot and Ring of Life are for accuracy and precautions respectively.

The inventory is simple:

Pure Sets so you get more experience in general. The Prayer Potions are so you can stay there longer. The Holy Wrench is so each dose of your Prayer Potion restores more Prayer, thus allowing you to stay down there longer. The House Tablet is so you can get out of there quickly once your Prayer Points run out.

In order from ideal to basic:

Helmet: Helm of Nietznot <- Berserker Helm/Warrior Helm <- God Hat (the ones that give Prayer bonus, not sure of name) <- Rune Full Helm

Body: Proselyte Hauberk <- Initiate Platebody <- Bandos Chestplate <- Fighter Torso

Legs: Proselyte Cuisse <- Initiate Platelegs <- Verac's Plateskirt <- Bandos Tassets

Weapon: Abyssal Whip/Saradomin Sword (Attack and Defense/Strength) <- Dragon Scimitar

Amulet: Salve Amulet(e) <- Salve Amulet <- Amulet of Fury <- Amulet of Glory

Boots: Dragon Boots <- Bandos Boots <- Rune Boots <- Climbing Boots

Cape: Skill Cape(t) <- Fire Cape <- God Cloak (not the one you get from the Mage Bank)

Shield: Book of Zamorak <- Book of Guthix <- Rune Defender

Ring: Ring of Life <- Berzerker Ring <- Warrior Ring

Gloves: 'Barrows' Gloves <- 'Dragon' Gloves <- Dragon Gauntlets <- 'Rune' Gloves

____________________________________________________________________________________________________

Anyway, once you've got your gear and inventory all set up you do the following:

Step 1: Getting There

Step 2: Getting Closer

Step 3: Choosing a Spot

____________________________________________________________________________________________________

Once you've entered this room, turn on "Protect from Melee" and you best melee boosting Prayer (Piety, Chivalry). Make sure to take a dose of your Pure Set. I've found that because you've got 20 Prayer Potions, and 12 doses of your Pure Set, you can take one dose of you Pure Set for each set of two (2) Prayer Potions you use.

Also, each spot is where you could position yourself when the skeletons and zombies lost their aggressiveness. Ideally you just position yourself in Spot 1, then wait, then when they lose their aggressiveness, run to Spot 3. You can stand in Spot 2, but unless you go back through the portal you initially came through (from the room with the Gargoyles) they won't become aggressive (usually, on several occasions they have done just that, so it's hit or miss).

If for some reason they just don't become aggressive again, hop through the portal back to the Gargoyles and then go right back and they'll be aggressive. There is another portal North of the portal you initially come through that also has zombies and skeletons and you can use this room to make the main room aggressive again (my personal favorite).

Like this:

Enter:
- Take first dose of Pure Set
- Put on Prayer

Later:
- Two Prayer Potions are finished (you now have 18 Prayer Potions(4) and two empty vials)
- Take one dose of your Pure Set
- Begin using another two Prayer Potions

And so on...

This will leave you at the end with four (4) full Prayer Potions, and one entirely full Pure Set. You can divide the doses as you wish.

So, now you're protected and fighting and stuff and suddenly you're out of Prayer Potions and Prayer Points. What I normally do is just watch my health and keep fighting. I do this because I've still got boosted stats from the Pure Set, and the zombies and skeletons aren't terribly strong (there are a lot of them though, so it's still dangerous). I get to about 30 HP before I teleport out using my House Teleport Tablet. Staying after all your supplies are finished can add up to 10k extra EXP, but it's generally an extra 5k EXP.

At that point, you re-stock and go back out.

____________________________________________________________________________________________________

Notes:

I'm trying to get the money to get 68 Summoning and try this spot out with a Bunyip. The idea would be to not have to use "Protect from Melee" that way you should be able to last longer. You might need to substitute certain pieces of armor, but I haven't done anything with it yet so I haven't included it in the guide.

Also, you could probably train Ranged here as well using Void, Red Chinchompas and Range Potions.

- One thing that sets this spot apart from other like it is that you get a decent number of charms down here. You've also got a chance at getting some Dragon items. I've personally gotten the Shield Left Half from this spot.

End Credits:

I'm open to all constructive criticism. If you think I should add something, or have a question please don't hesitate to suggest or ask.

Try not to let this place slip to to many people, it would be best if we tried as hard as we could to contain it. I know others already use this spot to train, but lets try to keep it to a minimum.

Thanks guys.

hmm good guide, but you should really calc it up to see how much you get an hour. or at least average it out, like lets say you got for 8 hours and get 360k xp

=45k xp/ph

coz i dont think people will go if its not as good at bandit bar, since you use prayer pots here. bandit bar is about 55-60k xp/ph

I have a feeling since its both piety and salve ammy, it'll beat the bandit bar spot. I'd be very very interested to find out though.

This would probably rake in more exp then bandits, but its more costly.
This combines like DT skeletons and Atoll Gorillas

Ok, here's the math. I'm basing this off of my personal recorded EXP gains that I held onto to actually prove to myself that I was gaining this much each trip. The most important thing really is how long you can stay down there.

For gear I'll be using this setup, which is quite basic when you ask me:

Helmet: Helm of Nietznot
Body: Proselyte Hauberk
Legs: Proselyte Cuisse
Weapon: Abyssal Whip
Amulte: Salve Amulet(e)
Boots: Dragon Boots
Gloves: 'Barrows' Gloves
Cape: God Cloak
Shield: God Book
Ring: Ring of Life

Calculators I'll be using:

Equipment Bonus
Prayer Drain Rate

So, my Prayer Bonus is: 27

Drain rate:

At 70 Prayer: 30.7 Prayer Points per minute

At 70 Prayer, you hit the 'Red Zone' at 18 Prayer Points, and by dosing up at that point, you go up to about 42 Prayer Points (24 Prayer Points).

1/30.7 = X/24 --> 30.7X = 24 --> .78 minutes per dose at 70 Prayer, which is 46.9 seconds. You're bringing 80 individual doses (20 Prayer Potions * 4 doses each = 80 doses), so:

80 * 46.9 = 3752.4 seconds --> 62.5 minutes

At 70 Prayer, you're there for a little over an hour.

As I said in the guide, I've gotten 90-100k each run, basically 90-100k EXP per hour (discounting the 2.5 minutes...which is basically negligible). That's not even including the extra 5-10k you might get for staying after all your supplies are gone, which tacks on a few more minutes.

I can't really do extensive tests right now because I'm saving up to buy a Saradomin Sword myself to train Strength here, but trust me when I say the experience gains are REAL.

You're talking 60k/hr at Bandits Bar, I'm talking at a minimum 90k/hr at only 70 Prayer.

Keep in mind my gains were all at 85 Strength, and I've got relatively low Strength for my level (118 P2P) so, for you guys with 90+ Strength, you could EASILY get more than 100k EXP each trip down there. Also, with higher Prayer you can stay down there, sure it'll be more than an hour, but at the same time your gains would be insane.

This place is by far better than Bandit Bar, I can assure you.

The only downside is that it's insanely expensive.

20 Prayer Potions * 6,500 GP (just an estimate) = 130k per trip

Seriously though try it out for yourself. After using this place, when I go to bandits or anything else, it just seems so slow.

I much prefer bandits because you don't use money on prayer potions and instead make money from the ranarrs and law runes and you don't have to worry about them getting non-aggressive. It does sound like a good idea if you have the money to spend.

I agree, the Bandits are nice if you just want to train easily. The gains aren't really all that fast, but the fact that you have almost nothing to worry about and can do other things like homework at the same time is very useful.

This is mainly for people who have a goal for a 99 Melee stat and want it fast, or have the money to spend to do something like this.

Nice guide
Sounds like a decent spot, I haven't got quest items that help in this nor them money atm, though I'll probably try it when I advance my character a bit
