There's a large percentage of members who don't prepare themselves to attend events. They will attend an event if it's convenient and they happen to be online... That's not enough. You have to start keeping event times in your mind and make a conscious effort to be on for the important ones.

The anniversary is coming up and what I don't want is just the people who happen to be online as the attendees. I want members to mass for it. There's about 40-50 members that will do this, but there's at least 30 more of you that just don't care.

Every member from trial to council has to lift their game and improve their commitment to events in WG. I sent out a mass PM about the anniversary a few hours ago and got shitty responses in the anniversary forum.

Of all clans, WG members give the most excuses to not attend. I am honestly under the belief that many of you lie about being unable to attend events, and I'm going to have my suspicions.

I'm not following the rolling event count any more. It's a flawed system. If I so much as *think* you aren't pulling your weight in attendance, you'll be spoken to.

___________

Everyone, EVERYONE, should be in a habit of knowing when WG events are on, and if you don't have something going on IRL, you need to make a conscious effort to make it. The leaders are now starting to remember who's making excuses and who isn't. If you keep making excuses, we'll know.

So if you are one of those members who just doesn't care about events and signs up as a "Maybe" every time and comes when its convenient, you are letting this clan down, and I will speak to you.

"Maybe" sign ups are one of those things I absolutely hate. Some people legitimately don't know, but there are many people who can't be fucked trying.

I understand, real life comes first... always... but I mean come on... put WG into the picture a little more. Start remembering to count down to events. Always look toward your next convenient raid.

Summary

Stop waiting for the events to come your way, picking up events that pass by.
Actively seek events, prepare for their arrival, know what's going on.

I understand that we have shitloads of events. You don't have to attend them all. I will be speaking to the Event Leaders to cut back their event making. It's actually doing us harm because the number is overwhelming to the point people give up on trying to attend many events. But at least figure out what the important ones are and prepare for those. I'm thinking of the anniversary days, the raids, the Events of the Month.

So yes, any member who's dodging too many of these events will be spoken to. I *am* fairly disappointed considering the leaders are working so hard, myself included, and we really ask for the tiniest amount of dedication, which isn't being given to us.

Do what I do, set an alarm on your cellphone. Just go to your phone's calendar and add an appointment and it should ring you before an event smile.gif

If you have problems remembering times then download a Free Clock/Calender to ring whenever there is an event happening.

I usually have to sign up as maybe on wars, mainly because I could think I'm going to be staying with my dad one week end, and then at the last minute, my mum changes it so I can stay home, and make the wars, and vice versa.

I do genuinely try my hardest to make wars, raids and other events, but my week end schedule is pretty complicated.

I hope you understand.

You're asking us to stop doing our jobs?
What if we enjoy making events as event leaders.
Oh well i can't make any until 10th December anyway , so no worries.

Anyway what Lordy says is true.
What's the point in the staff (AND OTHER MEMBERS) making events and spending all that time organising the timings and writing out the topics, researching them, checking if they will work , etc... if they don't get the attendance that they deserve.
This really annoys me.

Don't give Lordy an excuse to kick you out of WG.
He means what he says.
If you are inactive you will no longer be in the clan.

Well said Lordy. You pointed out the real true things that are out there. A lot of people are in self denial. This is a clan. We do EVERYTHING together. Next time you want to ditch an event to skill or play XBOX or something, just think of how many of your companions around are making WG their commitment, not skilling.

Please strive for self improvement.

good post, this need to be restated.

the funny thing is, some of our most active people are aussies, who have to wake in the middle of the night, and even trim the borderline between school starting.

i carry myself out of bed most morning, especailly last week for everyday events, so i cant see why someone else who just has to log on from watching tv or playing xbox or playing outside just to play for like a half hour.

If you dont come to events or wars, wtf you doing in here?

Sadly i will more than likely not be able to attend any or a large part of the Anniversary events. But this isn't because i don't want to or is inconvient. It's christmas time and that's a busy time of year. Not just for me, but prolly for a large part of WG. Over the december time i am going to Tasmania, i have about 5 work christmas break-ups to attend, plus my good friends 18th, and then theres christmas eve festives, christmas day festives, boxing day andthen on the 27th i'm going to Western Australia for a much dreaded family reunion. And in-between all of that i have work. So as you can see i can't really make a 'conscious' effect atm to attend events. But i will be attending any events when i can if i can.

Unfortunately, real life DOES come first for me and with my condition and the things I'm going through, I don't feel as if I need to give excuses for not attending. Sometimes I just don't know until I wake up in the morning how I'm going to feel. There are alot of factors that go along with me even wanting to get online. Don't get me wrong, WG is important to me as it's always been but I'm not about to put my life on hold for it. After all, this is still a game and I've been to enough events/wars/anniversaries that if I miss, that's fine.

I'm not putting down excuses, all you're getting is: 0% or 50% or 100%. I don't need to make excuses and I don't think anyone deserves an excuse. Pardon the "potential rudeness". I'll attend when/if I can and that's the bottom line.

Thats true. I check all events every 2 days if i can make them. But 70% of the time it's too late or i have school work sad.gif So I want to say I always will join the important events when I got time for it. If nescesary, i will even make time for it tongue.gif hash.png

Perhaps then, consider Emeritus.
But really I'm not taking the excuse. You're on Runescape heaps.

I look at Calendar for the most part, I love it when it stays updated.

<3 Randy

Also, it might be a little hassle but,
whoever makes the event could mass pm the member list on the site.

Idk about everyone else but that's the first thing I check when I log in.

And it also pops up when you load the site.

I'll try to attend more. I have alot going on in rl. I read over the anniversary post, but I didn't respond yet. I am going to try to schedule myself to be able to attend. In retail, this is the busiest time of the year.

I try to attend as many events as i can, but i can't say wether i can go in advance because i just dont know that far ahead. Cadets brings up random things all the time that i can't know months in advance. So thats why i haven't replyed yet. I'm going to have to be one of those people "If i'm on i'm coming" Sorry. I try and look for wars but it's hard to decide.

I'm improving my attendance, and i agree with Mike's idea on changing the rolling event attendance thing, because so many members can go absent for weeks on end without the thing knowing anything about it.
