The Strategy

Like stated above, The Tormented Beast can use all 3 Combat Styles and Protect from all 3 of your Combat Styles. Not only that, but at the very beginning of the fight(and sometimes in the middle if not killed fast enough) he's got a Fire Aura around him, which protects him from high hits.
user posted image

He always starts a fight with Melee Prayer on, but you want to get rid of that, so to start the fight, attack him with your Ranged Weapon until he turns on his Protect From Ranged Prayer on. Once he does this, switch to your Darklight and keep hitting him with it until you do damage and you'll get a message in your box that says you've temporarily weakened him.
user posted image

Once this happens, the fight becomes much easier. Since you just hit him with your Darklight he'll more than likely be scared and change to his Melee Prayer, but if he doesn't, equip your Whip and start hitting him. (If he does, switch to your bow and start hitting him.) Now keep repeating this process, paying attention to his Prayers and switching to the opposite style to damage him. With his Fire Aura gone, you'll be able to deal high damage easily.

It's a possibility that you may take too long to kill him, so he'll get his Fire Aura back. If this happens, just repeat what you did the first time, Ranging him until his Protect Range Prayer is on, then switching to your Darklight to weaken him once again. You'll know it has come back because it will say "The Demon is no longer weak to your attacks" in your chat box.

The hardest part of killing him, is paying attention to your own HP and staying alive. And here's how you do it. He attacks with all 3 Combat Styles, all of which can deal a total of 30 Damage Maximum. Not only that, but he attacks quickly, and will hurt you if he manages to catch you with Prayer off. You'll have to do some Prayer switching to stay alive, almost to the extent of doing Jad, except if you fuck up, you'll live. Though, it's somewhat different from Jad because he doesn't have a "charge up" or time before the attack to switch your prayer like Jad. So you'll pretty much have to take the first hit all the time, and then switch your prayer to the corresponding attack. You'll be safe for a good 5 or 6 attacks after you get that down, because he repeats the same type of attack a few times before he switches.

Now, you may ask "How the hell do I know what style he's attacking with?" Well, that's what I'm here for, isn't it?

When he melees, it'll be obvious. He takes a big claw out of your fucking face.

The Range Attack is somewhat difficult to spot in the air if you're close to him, so it's easier to watch the demon himself. If you've got some space between you and you're watching the air, it's a little flaming spike type thing that'll hit you. If you're watching him, the demon will kind of wave his arm before firing it at you.

Now the Magic Attack is easy to see. He'll lean in towards you, then shoot a fireball. Easy as that.

That's pretty much it, it's pretty hard the first time, but once you do it once you get used to it and you'll realize it's pretty easy.

Very nice Vince.

I don't like killing them, as they don't like dropping me shards.

Lovely guide Vince.
Well set out and very very well explained, well done.

Can I ask, I haven't done the quest, but I hear you have to kill the demon once in the quest?
Can you use the same techniques as in this guide, with darklight etc?

Will I struggle with 92 hp and only a terrobird, not a tortoise?

Edit: FFS I don't have 90 + range (only 74) and only 80 prayer, will i struggle immensely? sad.gif

You have to kill 2 during the quest, but it's totally different. During the quest, the only thing you really need is a bow and a melee weapon (so you can use the opposites so it can't pray.) You don't even need food or to pray against it, because the Stone of Jas boosts your stats to 250 HP/Att/Str/Def/Mage/Range. So you'll have no problems killing them whatsoever, lol.
