Guide to Free to Play PK Run In's

This guide focuses on F2P Run In's, the PvP type. After reading this guide you should have an idea of what to do. The rest comes with experience.
If you have any questions/comments/corrections, please post or pm me. Thank you!

In this guide Hybriding refers to the Melee + Binds variety.
This guide assumes that you know the basics of Binding, Tanking, hugging and Dragging. If you don't know what these are then check the Official Guides Forum for information.

Table of contents:
  • Introduction to PK Run In's
  • Types of PK Run In's
  • The different types of Required Gear
  • What to do during PK Run In's
  • The Methods of Returning
  • Tips worth mentioning
  • Making money for PK Run In's
  • Conclusion
PKRI's: an Introduction

First of all, you should know that the term PKRI stands for Player Killing Run In's. In this guide I will mainly be using the term PKRI's.

PKRI's are the current way of measuring a clan's strength in the wilderness.
WG being a community clan also has a Wilderness Focus, which is why we must adapt to PKRI's as soon as possible. Now I know some of you may not have enough money, which is why you should read the money making part of the guide.

PKRI's refer to the clashing of 2 clans, 2 groups of clans or 2 teams in the wilderness. The Term "Cluster" is used when there are more than 2 sides fighting.
PKRI's are done in both the Player vs Player worlds and the Safe Clan Wars. This guide focuses on the PvP Variety, mainly the Free to Play part. The Clan wars Run In's aren't used nowadays.
In order for us to improve our reputation with the clan world and our allies, and in order for us to improve our recruitment. We must take part in Run In's. People don't care about wars nowadays, which is why it's so important for us to participate in PK Run In's.

Types of PK Run In's

PKRI's are divided into two types.
  • Planned PKRI's: Planned PKRI's, as the name says, they're the planned part of PKRI's. They are organized between 2 officials of the 2 clans and are given a certain preperation time. You will see these posted in the forums to inform you about them. These usually have a set of rules that both clans needs to follow. Can be in both the Safe Clan Wars arena and the PvP Worlds
  • Unplanned PKRI's: Unplanned PKRI's, as the name says, they're the unplanned part of PKRI's. They occur when two clans are PK'ing and they find each other in the Wilderness. These usually have no rules and no boundries unless the clan officials discuss these. Can only be in the PvP Worlds, they cannot be in the Safe Clan Wars arena.
The Required Gear

In F2P PKRI's, your character should be one of the following:

1. Melee + Hybrid.
You will focus on melee'ing and binding. Curse runes are recommended.

Equipment:

Head: Rune full helm
Cape: Team-9 for members.
Amulet: Amulet of Power or Amulet of Strength
Ammunition: None
Weapon: Rune Scimitar -> Rune battleaxe -> Rune longsword -> Rune 2h -> Rune warhammer
Torso: Rune Platebody -> Green d'hide body

Because Magic skirts do not add magic bonuses, and monk robes only add prayer bonus which you won't need as you'll be tanking with rune. The chaps has better defence stats and can be mass bought easily.
Staff: Any, for tanking
Potion: Strength potion
Food: Swordfish and pizzas

--------------------------------

2. Melee + Range
You will focus on Ranging. Adamant arrows only. Do not range with anything else. The Rune scimitar is used when you run out of arrows. The Rune is for tanking. Rune platebody is not required.
+90 Range only (Raid Leaders confirm please)

Note: This gear is just to give you an idea of what to take. You can add or take parts if you'd like. The Rune is not neccessary if the rules allow d'hide usage or if this fight is unplanned.

What to do during PK Run In's

Your job in PKRI's is divided into three parts:
  • Before and During the fight: Follow the commands of the leader. If you're getting sniped put your rune on and hug a little bit then return to the pile. Fall in on the leader when the person being piled is dead. If you're a melee'er or a Mager then you MUST bind our target and cast curse on him if you have the runes. Binding is very important in order for us to win.
  • When you're being piled: Immediately put your rune, 15% and Melee prayers on. Move to the nearest object and hug it and continue to eat. Do not teleport and do not run out of bounds. You will eventually die but try to stay alive as long as possible so we can maintain an advantage over them. Clan reputation > Pixels.
  • When you're dead: Return to the fight as many times as you can. If you're not rich and you follow the money making tips found at the end of the post, returning 5 times would be MORE than enough. The returning methods will be mentioned shortly.
This small summary should give you an idea on what to do.

The Methods of Returning

F2P PKRI's mainly occur in the upper part of the wilderness, near the Greater Demons Zone

There are various methods of returning that you could use, here are some of the popular ones:

The Lumbridge Canoe

Requirements: RS Membership, Any Hatchet (Preferbly Bronze or Iron) and Level 57 Woodcutting.
Details: When you spawn in lumbridge, log off and go to a P2P World. Immediately go to the Lumbridge Bank or the RFD Chest, Take out your gear and bring a hatchet with you. Run east of the Keep to the other side of the river.
Chop down the canoe station and create a waka canoe.

Go to the wilderness Pond. You will be taken the level 35 moss giants. Just walk up there through the lavagap and you'll be there in no time

user posted image

The Ancient Spellbook Teleport

Requirements: RS Membership, Runes for Annakarl Teleport (2 laws and 2 bloods), Must have done the DT Quest and 90 magic.
Details: For Rangers ONLY, Switch to the spellbook before the Raid. When you die bank for your Range gear and cast that spell, you should be taken to the Greater Demons zone.

user posted image

The Games Necklace

Requirements: RS Membership, 1k to pay for the games necklace
Details: Gear up in lumbridge and take out a games necklace, teleport to Clan Wars and walk up. Fairly simple tongue.gif

Thanks to back to own for mentioning this method.

The Classical way

Requirements: Runes for Varrock teleport.
Details: Get your gear out, teleport to Varrock and walk up. Works for F2P and is fairly simple. tongue.gif

Tips worth mentioning

-When you're being piled use the hotkeys to quickly switch to the prayer menu and your equipments page. F4 for Equipment and F6 for the prayer menu.
-While you're returning, don't get near any non-WG member. For all you know it could be a NI member or any other NH Clan
-Put on your 15% Defence and Melee prayer when you get piled even if they are 30 options. This is to avoid a KO, when you manage to get your hp high you can turn off your 15% defence to save prayer.
-Get a higher magic level, around 80-75% of the Magic defence depends on your Magic level. Defence helps but not a lot.
-Always bind if you're not ranging, it's the key in victory.
-Put rune on when whoever the enemy clan is piling dies. If you get piled you'll take a lot easier. If you're not getting piled then put your robes/hides on again.
-Always bring Fire runes when you blast, this way you'll be able to blast if you don't manage to put your staff of fire on or if you'd like to melee + blast + bind.

Got anymore helpful tips? Post them smile.gif

Making money for PK Run In's

This is aimed towards the poor members. If you're a rich member and know how to make money, then sorry to say but you have no legitmate excuse in not attending Raids and PKRI's unless you've got to go or you're away.

If you have P2P then you've got 3 basic ways of making money. They each give you +300k per hour which means you get 1 rune set + pk supplies per hour minimum. It can be a lot higher though.
WG Doesn't PK a lot, use this to your advantage: You've got 1-2 weeks to make money, if you give 5 hours per week/2 weeks on making rune set money. You'll have atleast 5 rune sets along with the supplies to use. If you use these 5 sets and die then you're not required to return in that Raid/PKRI. But true dedication is to return as many times as you can if you have the money.

Alright, here we go.

The Green Dragons

Requirements: P2P, Any armour (Rune+), a Whip/Dragon scimitar and anti-dragonshield/Dragonfire Shield. Optional: a Beast of Burden summon.
Your inventory should contain about 10 swordfish and 1 antifire potion.

Go to the GE and use the agility shortcut to the northwest of it. Go a little bit east (Like 8 steps or so) and cross the wilderness ditch. Go to the Chaos Tunnels entrance. Once you're down there go to the southern portal and you'll be at the green dragons, you can hop if it's crowded.
Use a potion dose and kill the Green dragons while hugging the baby blacks to avoid the extra damage. Pick up the Hides and Bones they drop. They also drop certain herbs and runes that you may wish to pick, and even a clue scroll sometimes.

You could also try 1colonel1's method:
QUOTE
If you've got 70+ Prayer and these items:
- Prayer boosting cape (Skill Cape (t), God Cloak)
- Prosy top and bottom

You can go there with no food. Just pray Melee. Drink Super Set and Antifire before you leave. You're set. Bring a Terrorbird and ~3 scrolls to keep your energy up while you're running around because you're going to want to kill the dragons as fast as possible because you're only on prayer.

I do this and it works wonders. You don't use food, and the potions speed things up insanely fast. I kill 14 dragons in 6-7 minutes. In 49 minutes I get 98 hides and bones which is about 400k. Quick and easy.

My stats:
94 Attack
87 Strength
85 Defense
70 Prayer

I use:
God Cloak
Prosy Top and Bottom
Fury
D-Boots
Barrows Gloves
Nietz Helm
Ring of Wealth
Abyssal Whip

Pretty simple and gives a steady income too!

The Tzhaar

Requirements: P2P, any armour (rune+) and a whip/dragon scimitar
Your inventory should contain Guthans and some food, or just a full inventory of food. Super Strength and Super Attack potions are optional.

When you're ready teleport to Karamja with your glory and go to the volcano west of your position. Go down the rope, when you go down go the cave that should be near the rope. You'll be at the Tzhaar spot.
Just go few steps to the west and pile the +110 Tzhaar, they don't hit that good and you will get atleast one good item per hour.
Good items worth looting: Obsidian Cape, Obsidian shield and Obsidian Maul (Forgot the GE names, sorry tongue.gif)
Each of these items is worth over 200k. Using it with a ring of wealth helps a lot. I personally have gotten a cape after 10 minutes of doing this. I was also told you get atleast one item an hour. Pretty good if you ask me.

Credits go to Blast_Owner for this method

The Barrows

Check some guides such as the ones found in RuneScape Community. All of you should know this one. There are lots of methods and it's good cash.

-----------------------

These simple examples were to show you that no matter what, you can still make the money required for PKRI's and Raids if you're active and if you have Membership. There are a lot of other ways that are better but these are the most basic ones that are still good enough for you to make money with.

Here's also my F2P Money making secret (Made over 20m with it starting from 200k), Keep it private please.

The more money you have, the more you make. Real money starts at 4m but in order to make 4m, apply this method.

Buy rune armour (sk) pieces for mid price, make them into sets and sell them in the GE for max price.

The GE Merchant cap doesn't apply to it since you turn them into sets. With 10m+ you make 1m per day easily with this.

I'm not sure if this still works, but you can still try. I guarantee you, within a mere month you'll have lots of money. To make it even better for you, you only use the GE. Meaning you can do other stuff while still making money!
Gold mining, air crafting and woodcutting yews also make you the money required.

Conclusion

I hope you enjoyed reading this guide and have learned something. Even if it's just a simple thing, that works for me.
I hope to see everyone who read this guide to attend Raids and PKRI's now. You've really run out of excuses I'm afraid tongue.gif. This guide showed you what to do and how to make money. If you have questions, please don't be shy to ask.
This guide took me 5 hours to do and I've lost a return set while taking a picture (lolol), don't let it go to waste by attending PvP Events@@ tongue.gif

Very good guide, just one fix:

For the Green Dragons potion do this instead.

If you've got 70+ Prayer and these items:
- Prayer boosting cape (Skill Cape (t), God Cloak)
- Prosy top and bottom

Very good thought out guide. Musta taken you a while to type up hash.png

Another alternate way to get up is using a games necklace to CWA and walking up. Obviously slower then ancients teleport. I dont know if it would be faster then canoeing, but it would be faster then walking from varrock.

It's not better than Canoe's though, since Canoe takes you like 13 levels wildy higher than this method and also gets you close to the lava gap.

Some minor mistakes I spotted:

With the Mage+Melee you might want to put with the Inventory runes: That you should take about 50 Binds and 150 blasts. I suggest against curse runes because as a mage you're naturally really low on invent space.

Also when you walk up from mossies and you pass Lava gap you really need to go and retake your classes on Runescape Geography #

Also for the walking up: Run up to Gdz and use up all your energy. This should get you to about level 13-15 wild/ Walk up the rest and by the time you get back you'll be back to about 80% Run. This was with 70 agility though so adjust to your own agility level.

It's the very minimum, I'm trying to encourage people, that's why tongue.gif
Besides, you have melee armour in your inventory.

PKRI's aren't like wars, these 2 spaces used for curse runes are actually more valuable than 36 hp healed since your death doesn't have the same effect it has on Wars. Cursing makes us get a lot of easy piles as they lose a percentage of their defence which makes it excellent to get swift and easy KO's

Add a part where you explain the use of familiars.

Also, you cant take the canoe if you have one summoned.
I'd say, tele to BH with a Terrorbird summoned, run to lava gap, use The tireless run scrolls back to 100% energy, then hop.

I have a weak summoning level so I can't explain that.

But you can make a section and PM me it so I can add it, I'll give you credit of course.
