      IRC Nickname: Wayne|Eregion2 Group: Emeritus Posts: 3087 Member No.: 156 Joined: January 25, 2008 Total Events Attended: 8    | Tsutomu Nihei is one of the best mangakas I've ever found; he used to be Tsutomu Takahashi's assistant, and I've been looking more into Takahashi's stuff. Found two I'd highly recommend. Sidooh: Two brothers in the Ansei Era working for a warlord. Very historically accurate, and brutal (better than Vagabond I think, also has a much faster pace). Plus, one of the brothers (Gentaro Yukimura) is the most badass character I've ever found in a manga. He's just like, totally desensitized to violence. It's pretty scary. Series is ongoing at 31 chapters. Alive: Death row inmate is offered a chance of freedom by taking part in a scientific experiment. Short series, only 10 chapters. Impressive characterization and the story is compelling. Can't tell you much more than that since its so short anything I told you would be a spoiler, but in my opinion this thriller can beat out DeathNote (or at least I think they're on equal footing). --------------------  |

They're both supposed to be better than the anime (it'd probably be hard to find a manga that wasn't better than its anime, lol). -------------------- |
