What can we say eh, Council have been running around like headless chickens over our really complex Emeritus rank. We want them to stay in Wg, but also offer us their services in return. So, this is a group Council Effort, mostly from Mugger, Randy & Elias, Credit to them.

Well, we've decided to split the Emeritus rank into two, you could say it's a ranking system for Emeritus, then again, you might not.

The two new ranks are:

-Honoured Emeritus
-Emeritus

-----------------

Honoured Emeritus Permissions

IRC Access
  • Will have access to #Wg.
Forum Access
  • Announcments Category
  • Events Category
  • Clan Matters Category
  • The Real World Category
  • Security Forums:
    Level One
    Level One & Three Quarters
  • Public Forums Category
  • Links Category
Added Access:
  • Adult Forum access, with proof of identification of 18 years & above.
Honoured Emeritus Requirements
  • Higher Guardian+
  • MUST Sign up for 1 week prep wars, otherwise demotion to Emeritus.
  • Signing Up for a 'No' too many times can be considered as skipping wars, therefore the consequences will be demotion to Emeritus.
-----------------

Emeritus Permissions

IRC Access
  • Will NOT have access to #Wg.
Forum Access
  • Events Category
  • Clan Matters Category
  • The Real World Category
  • Public Forum Category
  • Links Category
Added Access: None

Emeritus Requirements
  • Higher Guardian+
-----------------

For now, everyone has been moved to Honoured Emeritus. (I know there's a problem with getting into #Wg at the moment, Robbie is fixing it soon, until then, please pm an Op in #Wg_Lobby)

We will move people to the "Emeritus" on request & by measuring their activity over the anniversary & upcoming wars. We're going to be quite strict on the activity of Honoured Emeritus. If you would like to be demoted to "Emeritus" because you feel as though you won't make the War requirement, please post below.

When you are a Higher Guardian+ choosing to retire, you can choose between Honoured Emeritus or Emeritus.

Glad you gave everyone a chance at honoured. I have a huge problem with wars though, as they are almost always on weekend afternoons (the 2 of the 3 days that I work per week). Either way I'll try to keep attending events as much as possible.

Another time Randy helps out, looking better for you all the time in Abs postion. Good Job Muggers. This plan looks more fair too. It gives an incentive to want to attend wars and be active. I hope any events they attend will be helping them to stay in honoured.

Good Luck to all who want to stay honoured. wub.gif

Mind if I call bs over the irc access matter?

Both ranks should be given access to the #Wg irc chan. A lot of the emeritus like Tnuac would most likely not make the reqs for honoured emeritus however why should they be taken away the right of access to #Wg?

The point of Emeritus was that they could still be part of the community no matter how irregular this could be. Don't give me the Bs that they can hang out in the Lobby since most of the people in there don't talk/read the channel anyways. With the exception of sucking up to a potential new recruit.

I am strongly against the of Irc access for Emeritus who can't keep the activity requirement. IRC is not a priviledge but a right as a Wg member. It's one of the base ways of communication and the most used one in Wg. As if the Irc doesnt have periods of dead time enough already.

Unacceptable. I can understand barring people from the war forum if they do not sign up, but there is no reason prevent them from viewing IA and joining #WG other than being vindictive.

I did not stay in this clan for three years so that I could eventually see the day when those who at one time put their heart and soul into this clan would be treated like trash.

I'm going to have to agree here, most emeritus have put so much into WG, we should be allowed to be in irc, if you give us the 'event forum'' then we need the irc to see mini-wars, massing times, basic clan information. I think this needs to be changed (for regular emeritus, not honoured)

We can't continue to reward inactivity.
If you want the privileges of #wg IRC, then you can't keep relying on your past achievements.

Then why give us access to the event forum but not IRC? IRC is vital for communication between the clan members, emeritus or not...

You make it sound like everyone wants to be inactive. Surprise, surprise, some people have stuff to do that is more important than playing RS. I am sure many emeritus wish that they had the free time to play RS like they did in their active days. Activity has its own rewards, the concept that you need to punish people for them to stay active or that not punishing them constitutes rewarding activity is ridiculous. Keeping your members active by fear rather than encouragement is no way to run a clan. The worst part is that this does almost nothing for activity problems, emeritus are the least likely to say yes to wars anyways. Concentrating on the active member list would be much more productive.

We are not and have never rewarded inactivity. What we have rewarded through the Emeritus rank is loyalty, dedication, and good work. Regardless, what were are doing now is:
A) Being ungrateful to those who have helped the clan greatly in previous times.
B) Being vindictive in putting punishments that have no purpose.
C) Punishing people for putting RL over RS.
D) Dividing the clan and hurting the community.

I will most likely not meet the warring activity requirement, due to my work schedule. I'll continue to signup nonetheless, though you will probably see a handfull of "No" responses.

Ah well, things could be worse. So long Honored. /wave

^ What Karl said. This is a much needed change, but don't take from what we already have. Personally I <3 IRC and forums, but I have absolutely no time for RS. I'm a full time college student and I have to work to pay my own tuition. I've severely cut back on gaming to no more than 2-3 raids a week on WoW, and that's only a few hours veeery late at night. Life is important to me right now, far more important than games will ever be, but I do still love to hang out here with you guys when I can. I just hope this update doesn't interrupt that balance.
