I have today met with the council, minus Glenn as he is away.
We have restructured the application system.

The New Application System

We have categorised the application into five steps.

Step 1 - Reading the Rules and Requirements
Step 2 - Writing the Introduction
Step 3 - Validation
Step 4 - Application Form
Step 5 - Trial Members

THE BIG CHANGES:

The New Validation Step
Basically, they have one of four options to validate themselves.
SMS service, 2 Referrals, Ex-Member, Ex-Top Clan.
These four methods are enough to stop most spies, and ensure activity, which are the two goals of Validation.

New Intro Form
Down to 5 Questions from 13. This means less waffle, and its easier to fill out.
This might encourage people to make an intro. The 5 questions pretty much do the same job as the old intro.

New Application Form
Down to 10 questions from 18, and much simpler. We've removed all the rubbish like asking for their Runescape names and definitions.

Trial Stage
Read this, it is important. This does not apply to our current trials. Only the ones who are accepted with the new system. Trials are going to be treated like FA's. They will be under supervision, and while they are members of WG, they are on a sort of probation. Council members have the right to kick them for flaming or anything like that because THEIR PLACE IN WG IS NOT YET SOLIDIFIED. Trials currently are pretty much seen as full members, but the council NEEDS to be able to kick them much more readily if need be. It is only after graduation that a clan member should get "locked in". If a trial is flaming, the council will kick them, rather than giving warnings out as they would to a full member. Current trials are safe from this. In 3 weeks time though, trial forum access will be slightly reduced.

Referring
Take referring much more seriously. Don't just go "Yeah ok I'll help you get in." You HAVE to actually get to know them. Spend a good amount of time getting to know them and ensuring they are not spies and not inactive. Seriously there's been a rise in the amount of spies in clans. Don't just agree to refer anyone. You HAVE to get to know them properly.
________

Example introductions and applications are provided in each of the forums. The whole concept of these changes is to make it easier to get into WG, and harder to stay in.

Please visit the forums and check out the changes.

We can't, but then, when is the council biased?
Rarely if ever.

I saw the changes earlier. I like them a whole lot.

Good job to the council + Elias. I like the idea of the change on trial members.

Should put a describe yourself word minimum though, just knowing someone's name and that they like music doesn't seem enough to establish a sense that you know the person well.

good improvement, i especially like the new part about referal. although i doubt people will be likely to give up their phone numbers before even becoming trial, but the part about ex-top clan is good.

But other then that, these updates will help us.

Good thing you're getting more strict with the trial guardians wink.gif

Wow, it looks amazingly organised!
I love how you guys set that up, I'm sure a person would be able to follow it.
Well done Council, it's organisation is turning me on xD

Ah, and I see you took out the wafffle qwestions, yes, probably the best move, it should be fairly easier to fill it out now. It's also quite direct & straight to the point.

And I totally agree with Council being able to kick Trials, it'll clear up a lot of misunderstandings in the future.

Very nice, good job =)

My opinions:

- Take away the SMS Service as a means for being validated. It's kind of like an insult. Obviously you give other means (Ex-member, referrals, Ex-Top Clan) but it can be seen as prying into their personal lives way to soon. It obviously shows trust and commitment to WG, but for them it might be slightly intimidating. I doubt you'll ever get someone to validate that way at all using that method, which is why I say get rid of it for that use.

- Shortened forms sounds great. Haven't looked at them yet, but less questions is usually better. I personally would suggest to have a length requirement at least for the application, not the introduction. Can't say much more on that until I see the new forms.

- I like the way the new Trial Guardian is structured. Really should have been that way from the start. Maybe outline some rules that Trial Guardians have to read so they know what can and will get them banned.

- I have been waiting for a referral system like that. Made a suggestion to make that part of the application like that, but obviously until now nothing has happened. Very happy to see this. I still expect people to just say "Can you refer me please?" even if they don't know the person well enough yet. Just hearing that this is being implemented is great.

Overall, great announcement. Most things are much needed.

It was very well organized, the fact that the next step you have to do is right at the bottom of the topic on the previous step helped a lot. The reduced questions was also pretty helpful and your still getting everything that you need for a decent application.

I also agree with colonel however, I was never a big fan of SMS for validation but if you feel it is necessary keep it.

SMS fails.

It is very uncomfortable even for me. I don't give out my phone number. Only one WG member has that.

As a trial guardian, this topic is of special interest. Your old process was thorogh but I found the referral part challenging. I happen to be good friends with Joe, which is how I learned of your clan, its requirements, and activities. Asking a stranger to refer me was shall we say difficult but there again Joe smoothed the way for me. He introduced me to Lefty who was kind enough after chatting with me for a while to refer me. The complication is that there is a one month graduation period. If you do not know someone in WG, interacting with someone and meeting the graduation time might be a reach.

I absolutely agree with the need to keep your options open when it comes to kicking someone for cause and I assumed that this applies to me. If it doesn't, it should because it is important to determine if someone "fits" into an organization and it is important for that person to determine if they fit. Therefore, I, respectfully, suggest that you consider on a case by case basis extending the trial period and the probationary period to better determine if there is a fit.
