Gaming / Path of Exile
March 22, 2013, 06:26:39 PM
Quote from: WikipediaPath of Exile is an online Action RPG set in a fantasy world. It is developed by New Zealand based independent developer Grinding Gear Games and is a downloadable free-to-play game supported by "ethical microtransactions". On January 23, 2013, the Open Beta was released

The game play is basically Diablo 2 with Final Fantasy VII's materia system for skills and Final Fantasy X's skill grid for passive stats. There is no currency; everything is based on items and trading. Spammers are taken care of promptly and there isn't much IRL trading yet because the game is in beta.

Let me know if you start playing. You can party up to 6 people and I can help rush/gear. Toon name = Vixose

Do you play Open or Closed Battle.net? What server do you play on?

I am a D2 fanatic. It is so much better than D3.

Gaming / JACT

This program is a type of rewards system for gaming, giving you credit as you play many computer games. I used it in a previous beta, but they completely lost track of it and eventually shut it down. In this beta they have promised to grant all previously gained credit and seem to have a better plan of action.

They have a pretty exhaustive list of games that are supported, including RuneScape, WoW, and Guild Wars 2. Here is a link to the list: https://us.jact.com/games

If anyone wants an invite code, post your e-mail here and I will send you one.

It might be worth it to go ahead and get an i5 processor while you are building. You'd hate to want to upgrade later on.

I've been playing on Kil'Jaeden a bit. Add my real ID fools.

I might actually come back to RuneScape for a month or so to try out the updates once they are implemented. They will create a completely different game style, one that I have become quite accustomed to playing WoW.

I am so disappointed in WG's choice of games.

Final Fantasy Series (Top 3: 7, 9, and 10, in that order)
Super Mario RPG: Legend of Seven Stars
Metroid Series (Super Metroid and Metroid: Prime)
Zelda Series (A Link to the Past)
Diablo II (+ expansion pack)

Those are all classics in video game history. There are definitely more, but I just picked my top 5.

Real Life Discussion / Dropbox
February 14, 2012, 04:22:35 PM
I don't know if many of you have heard of it, but Dropbox is basically like free internet storage that is accessible from almost any device that can connect to the internet. It is an amazing program that is integrated into your operating system extremely well, making its use extremely easy.

I personally use it on my desktop, laptop, and phone to access any information that I want, anywhere on campus. It allows for perfect synchronization between all of my devices, especially with school work that I do in different places. On top of that, you can have friends/family use the same account to access the information, or you can just share the folder and it will show up in their computer as well.

It is definitely something to look in to if you have multiple devices to sync between, or even have to do a lot of collaborative work. If you do decide to sign up, I would really appreciate it if you used referral link so that it will increase the size of both yours and my Dropbox by 250MB. Hell, if you are feeling extremely nice, it'd be awesome if you could sign up regardless if you are going to use the service or not. It is a quick sign up and installation of the software.

The referral link is: http://db.tt/1YYkybG

If you have any questions about Dropbox, just ask.

How long do you spend playing Runescape in a day? Post the usual times that you play, and maybe a schedule that you follow.

I use AnyVideoConverter to rip single songs off of YouTube, and then just look for .zips or .rars of albums on Google.

I have been playing that shit in class recently. When I had my SNES hooked up, I beat Metroid quite a few times without a guide, but nowadays, with it running on my computer, it is too easy to search on the internet on how to beat it.

Good shit though.

EDIT: Also get The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past. Definitely worth the time and is another classic.
