Real Life Discussion / Re: Fight SOPA and PIPA

This bill has been around for months, but everyone all of a sudden cares today. Why? because Wikipedia and other sites are blacked out. That's right. In our society, people only care about stuff when it directly affects them.

On the contrary, most online users have been defending and petitioning for months now. The reason for the sudden increase of activity is because the bill is going to be voted on the 24th of January. This is a final attempt to raise awareness that if it is passed, it won't actually bring any good to the Internet.

Real Life Discussion / Fight SOPA and PIPA
January 18, 2012, 08:58:48 PM
For those of you who are aware of the United States congress considering a legislative bill to "Stop Online Piracy", you must be well aware of the repercussions if this act were to, in fact, be passed. Mozilla, Google, Facebook, Wikipedia, Yahoo and other major tech companies are taking action to prevent this bill from being passed. Wikipedia has even blacked out all it's pages for 24 hours, to protest this bill.

Here's a page I suggest those of you who don't know what SOPA is read-  https://www.google.com/landing/takeaction/sopa-pipa/

SOPA would highly effect Youtube, and would allow the government to censor everything on the Internet. That means no more music videos, no more game trailers, no more movie trailers, no more a lot of things. The US has the right idea, but this bill will NOT stop piracy. For those who are pirates, they can easily change their website name and continue on.

Please, support this page to keep our Internet independent and uncensored - https://donate.mozilla.org/page/s/SOPA?source=snippet

OT: This will effect EVERYBODY, even non-Americans. You will most likely loose access to more than one website you visit frequently. So I ask EVERYBODY to help fight it.

1- I often play on words, and hide meaning within text.

2- I enjoy weaving intricate plans, whether it be to get rid of people or simply embarrass them.

3- When people ask me to tell them three things that nobody else knows of over the internet, 99% of the time I'm going to lie.

I don't have any experience with building a PC, really. I'm going to look into the tower you suggested, JC. I'll speak with a few of my other PC-oriented friends, and see what they have to say. Thanks for the help so far though.

Yeah, that's what I mean by all-in-one. I've rather changed my mine though, I wouldn't mind a PC with the tower and everything. If you have any suggestions on any PCs that meet my criteria, minus the all-in-one, I'd appreciate if you could post.

Thanks for everything so far, cheers.

Thanks JC. I was looking for an actual PC, since I currently play from a laptop. But I'll do some research as to the two you've posted. Any idea if they're available in Canada?

I'm thinking of purchasing a new PC sometime soon. Does anyone have any suggestions that meet the following criteria?

In order of importance

  • Maximum budget of $1,500 CAD
  • Preferred built-in mic and webcam
  • All-in-one if possible, not mandatory
  • Windows 7 with an Intel Processor(Preferably i3 or i5)

So, if you could at least fit the budget and possibly one of those two preferred hardware preferences, I'd greatly appreciate it.

Hello Rene. I look forward to chatting more with you in IRC/in-game. You have very good English for someone who speaks it as a second language. If it is, in fact, your second language.

Anyways, I'm General Pointless in IRC. See you around, and goodluck.

Quote...large like you would use to skin an animal, but lastly is the object I hold dear

Insert a period after "animal". It's run on sentence.

QuoteAlthough I am not a normal person I am not crazy,

Insert a comma after "person"

QuoteWhen I reach my home I remove my things and take out my cross.

Insert a comma after "home"

Just a few minor things, really. Otherwise, it is exceptionally well written.

50, 40, 30. 50 sit ups, push ups, burpies, then a lap around a 400m track. Then 40 of each, lap. 30, lap.

Oh, and when I ran the gauntlet while paintballing with some friends. Basically, everyone lines up on one side of the paintball field and you have to run across the whole field and back while they all shoot at your. :|

Joined WG
Was promoted in TR to Events Council
Finally reached 10th prestige legit on MW2 :D
Met the parents of the lead singer in Simple Plan

That's about it, really. At least next year I'll be able to say I lived through the end of the world.

Nice intro :D You do parkour eh? Are you really good or do you just do it for fun?

I do it as a form of conditioning, but I don't think I'm good enough to create a montage-type video yet.
