Real Life Discussion / The Trojan Way
September 10, 2012, 12:04:56 PM
Saw this video from my favorite university football team's (gridiron to some, ty Joel) official YouTube channel.

Can anyone guess what I was thinking of?  :>

The Trojan Way

Show up early.
Ready.
And start fast.
Compete with heart.
Always compete with heart.
And guts.
Finish - what we start.
Make no excuses.
Tell the truth.
Stand tall; big chest, big eyes.
Protect the team, protect the team, protect the team.
At all times.
We are tough, aggresive, and trained.

We are, SC.

That's the Trojan Way.

RuneScape Discussion / Got Cleaned Boxing
September 10, 2012, 06:35:36 AM
So after the WG Armadyl trip I decided to stay after. I died a few times after but the guy I met after everyone left teamed up with me. We did some duoing and long story short; after he left, I went to the corner and hopped to W27. Note: DO NOT EVER CHANGE WORLDS IN ARMADYL. I logged in with 0 hp, and 3 of my gear inventories that I looted from my own graves were in my inventory along with about 3.5k diamond bolts (e).

So I do the last thing I would ever do to make some money back is to go box at the Duel Arena. I won a 1.6m bet after losing some and bet 5m again...

[spoiler]Nah, I won all my losses at Armadyl back. Still 7 hours of time wasted though.  :/

Real Life Discussion / The +1 Game
September 08, 2012, 02:31:23 PM
The +1 game. Mention something that you do in real life that you aren't sure others do -- but it has to superstitious or ritual. For example: wetting your toothbrush before putting toothpaste on it, and then wetting it again before you brush. Or...pulling your socks up before you wear your shoe.

Highest quotes and +1 wins! Records of what it is and who started it will be recorded and updated below periodically.

What are yours and why?

Mine:

USC Trojans (University of Southern California athletics)
-Reason: Favorite university. Their motto is "Fight On!" Hence the second part of my username.

Oakland Raiders (local American football team)
-Reason: Fell in love with the sport, and they were the first NFL time I ever watched.

Golden State Warriors (local NBA team)
-Reason: Local team. They always lose, but still play hard. :P

About You and Your Account

1. What is your current Runescape username, and what are your past usernames if any?
Big Al 002 (original name) > FIGHT ON USC > Al Fight On
I think if you add me in RS, enter Big Al 002 and it should come up.

2. Tell us about your RuneScape account and history (e.g. when you started, what your RSN means, favourite activities etc.):
I started RS in late 2005/2006, when I saw my friend talk about his partyhats and santa. I got into it with he and his brother. I made a noob account called Big Al 001 to test RS, sort of like a BETA account to learn the game. I ditched it after a few weeks and made a final account called Big Al 002, which I still use to this day. I added the numbers 001 and 002 because "Big Al" was already taken. "Big Al" was a nickname my neighbor gave me. I'm not actually tall or wide at all :P. FIGHT ON USC comes from my favorite school, the University of Southern California, and the school motto is "Fight on!" So as I was saying, I got hooked onto the game because you could save up money and buy cool items to show off, and it gave an adventure. Most of my first few years of RS was generally messing around, doing a little of everything, but I found that moneymaking was not my thing. So I asked my friend that originally got me into RS how he got his money, and he told me generally just pking. I started 3-man pking with him and one of his friends, but I always ended up dying. It was fun, but financially I couldn't handle it anymore. I was more into something that gave a steady income, so that led me into skilling. I started out by woodcutting and that was my first real passion in RS. I would spend day in and out chopping wood, on the toilet, laying in bed, while doing homework, talking to in-game people and meeting lots of new people. Soon after a few 99s, I got bored of skilling and went back into combat, which led me into searching for a clan. I made my own clan, joined an outside clan, and joined a few other RSB clans but none were permanent commitments. So then I wanted to join a bigger and better clan, and said to myself, to find the 'best clans', I'd have to find the best lists and rank of clans, which led me to the Zybez RAW list. I Googled every clan on the list and found WG to be the perfect fit. In my own clan, I always had a knack for clear cut organization, steady improvement, and I constantly spent time changing the first-ten posts on RSB for my clan for flawless formatting and grammar. The moment I saw WG's main site, I knew it was something and everything I was looking for. After joining WG I enjoyed my RS life a lot. WG taught me how to raid, pk, war, and opened a new world to me, which was the game-driving element of the game that was the wilderness. I also found that by joining WG, it motivated me to train a lot more and improve my character. A few of the things I accomplished: max melee (3 weeks), using the old armoured zombies guide on the old boards, and 99 ranged (5 weeks). Soon, I will also achieve 99 magic.

Now that I look back at my RS history, a lot of that is still reflected today. I still can't make money (lol), like to skill, and that translated me into trying to transform my character to go PVP.

3. Tell us about yourself (Name (if you are comfortable), gender, age, country, hobbies, music, talents, likes and dislikes):
My real name is Alex, hence the username "Al." Nobody actually calls me Al irl though, lol. I'm 17, about to graduate from HS, and was born and raised in California all my life. I like to play sports; and have played basketball, football, boxing, and ran both cross country and track. After I graduate, I won't be able to partake in the sports by season, but I still like to run long distances, box, and play basketball. As for music, my favorite genres are Hip-Hop and R&B. I actually enjoy music from all genres, as I learned to appreciate music in general from learning and playing the piano formally for about 7 years. Right now, I sing in a chamber chorale choir at my high school and love it. For talents...I can't do anything like juggle, squeeze a nickel in my chin, or draw, but I guess you could say I'm more talented in the kinesthetic and musical areas :3.

4. How did you hear about us and what makes you want to join WG or DG? Also, which of these two clans are you applying for?
I literally found WG through the old Zybez RAW list and Googled it. I'm a returning member, so I'll be reapplying to WG ^.^.

Your PvP Experience
I've learned all PVPing from WG, from classic raiding to Rev caves. During the end of my first tenure in WG back in 2009, I joined Ancient Fury and fought in pretty big clashes. I know the basics like commands, hugging, tanking, and sniping. Since I'll be getting 99 magic soon, I'll have to practice freezing and teleblocking. All in all, I hope to utilize all my human capital in combat with you guys as much as I can.

5. What Multi-combat PvP Experience do you have? Be sure to mention any recent or past F2P or P2P PvP Clans you have been in.
I was a full member of Ancient Fury in 2009, and have fought with WG in both wars and raids.

6. Our warring times are usually between 3PM EST/8PM GMT and 5PM EST/10PM GMT on weekends, but sometimes weekdays, can you regularly be active at these times?
My playing times are sporadic, but I'll be on mainly during the late afternoon/evening in US.

7. Can you stock up on 10 sets of Full Rune as well as an equal amount of F2P Mage and Range sets? This only applies to applicants of WG.  Your gear will be checked via trade screen when you are being invited to the CC in game. - Please note a comprehensive list of the required items is posted as a sticky in the 'Join the Clan' Forums
I will stock up on these as soon as possible. I do have enough money for more than enough of required sets.

8. Do you understand that all PvP Events are Mandatory if you are online, and that you face removal from the clan should you blatantly skip these events?
Yes, I understand this.

Your Activity and Availability

9. Do you agree to check WG Forums daily and be on IRC at all times while you are in game, and to be on Teamspeak for all Wars and Raids? (Please note, these are third party programs, but clans have been using them for years and are crucial to our success, as such they ARE a requirement.  Further details can be provided on request.)
Yes. I will be active on the WG forums and IRC, especially because I can access both on my mobile. However, if I'm out of country that would be harder -- I will post a temporary leave if I do. I have TeamSpeak downloaded and can use it.

10. Is there anything in the near future that may impact your activity or ability to attend events?
My priority right now is graduating HS, and attending a college to transfer into my dream college, which I will start in July. I box and practice competitive team basketball in the evening on weekdays, and travel for basketball on certain weekends, but should anything be in the way, I will absolutely let staff know in advance.

Guest Lounge / Coming Back
May 14, 2012, 11:32:23 AM
How've you all been? Let's catch up.

After a two year long quit, I came back to WG right during the Reckoning and quickly earned Guardianship. I got 99 Ranged in a few weeks and started my way to 99 Magic, then hung around here for a while, but my workload in my final year of HS kicked in and I had to go inactive again.

I'm coming back, but this time I'm planning to stick around. Currently I'm almost 98 Magic, and after 99 I'm committing myself to clanning and pvp'ing with WG. Occassionally, I'll boss or do some skilling. But like always, I've done all this combat training to PK with WG. After all, there is no greater joy in RS than to war or kill other clans and players, imo, and now I can finally say I can put my best foot forward in combat -- something I've always wanted since first joining WG years ago.

I look forward to meeting all the new members and seeing old faces.

All the best,
Al

Welcome to the official Wedge website. This is an upcoming fork of SMF, and if you don't know anything about it, you may want to leave this site and go discuss on another forum the aphrodisiac properties, or lack thereof, of garlic sausage. Or you could simply read the FAQ topics. It's up to you.

"You, me, or nobody is going to hit as hard as life. But it ain't about how hard you hit, it's about how hard you can GET hit and keep moving forward — how much you can TAKE, and keep moving forward — that's how winning is done!"

House of Random / it's hard

to be a genuine person. to we human beings, life is to confirm our existence. if you ask yourself? why am i here? you would venture off into a branch of thoughts.

you could try thinking of it the realistic way, like being a realist. of course, we are here because we are products of reproduction! our parents made us :)

the second part is: (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Psychophysiology) if you read one of the sentences in the first ... huge chunk of the paragraph you should find a sentence that reads, "Some people have difficulty distinguishing a psychophysiologist from a physiological psychologist, two very different perspectives."

but what is psychophysiology? for example, psychophysiology can be thinking about pixels over the internet. imagine this. you are talking to a pixel, correct? except, in your eyes, you only communicate through typing over an internet. to explain how the internet works, i would need to understand how computer science works. tbh, it was created not too long ago  ##

Psychophysiology (from Greek ψῡχή, psȳkhē, "breath, life, soul"; φύσις, physis, "nature, origin"; and -λογία, -logia)

it is a noun, and if you break down the syllables, that is psy-cho-phy-si-o-lo-gy. 7 syllables. to my knowledge understanding the Greek, Latin roots of words of the [English] language can help you use it. you can sound words out, by using Latin, because the sounds of the alphabet, in the United States, is the same sound used by the Latin people some ages of our time ago.

that is all. ponders

i went off on a tangent but yea that's why i stopped Lol

RuneScape Discussion / trawler?!
June 24, 2011, 12:13:58 AM
i think it would be a good event...practice listening for raids and wars

edit: let me add...a couple years before this was an event hosted by lordy...it was hard and we were failing. but of course we managed to get lots of fish still. how many actions do you have while trawling? in raiding there is a pile called, rebanking would be retrawling, off, deathdot, fi, etc.

my question is...how can trawling help train your raiding skills?

So yesterday, I got really pissed because I'm poor, and in debt O_O. I owed 1m to Bgp, 3m to a friend, and 200k to another friend. I paid Bgp and the 200k the day before yesterday, but I still owe 3m. I started out with around 900k before my first stake, gp I got from piling hides and bones at blue drags. I hadn't staked or went to the Duel Arena in say...two or three years, so messy staking ensued. I forgot how to duel, so I deposited my inventory and equipment and said F it. My first stake I boxed WITH prayer, but I forgot the newly-released prayers. I was like, what is Turmoil? Then I got really screwed over, dropped staking, and decided it wasn't a good way to make money. Nonetheless, somehow I managed to profit.

Story:

Today was another day I attempted to make "fast money." I stayed up all night trying to find items to flip, and scoured sites for moneymaking methods. Well, I was inspired by Taibz to merchant, since we both made a good 2M+ flipping an item. After that failed, the sun came up, and I went back to SoS to throw knives at the giant spiders. Some time passes, and while chatting old friend's cc, I met some random guy. We became fast friends. I told him that night I failed a Forinthry Dungeon trip. Btw, bumped into Kriese there L. Somehow I skulled (was 3 iteming to test the waters), and a guy that I was talking to there killed me. So that was a failure.

I went back to SoS and I started talking to the guy I met on the clan chat. I told him I staked a little, and I was desperate for gp to pay my debt, pay for WG gear, pay for knives, chinchompas, ranging pots, and bunyip pouches. He gave me a few tips and I staked back and forth, this time not falling for stupid scams and rules. I kept on beating this guy that repeatedly kept staking 50k per match ##. Fights happen, I lose some, win some, but I come up short. 100k down. I got frustrated, so I went back to the bank chest, took out my cash pile and find one of those high staking people. I found one guy named Hugs and I staked 1m with him. AND I WON!

So I'm shit happy. And I go back sprinting to the GE, then back to the SoS to throw more knives at the spiders, knowing not to stake anymore, because I came off with a big win :). I talked to this guy I met in the clan chat more, thanking him, because he cheered me on and gave me GL's before almost every match. All of a sudden, he keeps begging me to DDS him. So reluctantly, I go, and I told him I didn't have that much money to spare. I finally meet him face-to-face in W27, an hour before the Reckoning house event at Lordy's. To my shock, he says, stake 1M. I went there thinking this was something friendly he wanted to try, going in there thinking I was gonna stake around 100k and get it over with. I was max combat, but he was 98 hp and 94 def. I asked the WG clanmates if I should proceed, but I got mixed responses. I came up on some "risk it to get the biscuit" crap and staked 1m. I had 2.2m even. Suddenly, he disappears, and I got feelings he was trying to scam me. On the first window, he said he wanted to use shield, which gave the thought he was trying to use claws, because I remembered you wear dragon claws on both hands. I ask the wg chat again, and of course they started discouraging me. BPN pops in and says do it, so my *risk-to-get-biscuit* instinct triggered. So I had to make sure I fully trusted him, and make sure there isn't a catch in the back to scam me. We both traded and made sure only one DDS was in our inventory. Not knowing, he picks up a whip off the floor before the final stake window. And at the staking window, he negates to NO SPECIALS, which I didn't see, and that totally effed me up. I couldn't use my DDS specs, and he switches to whip, owns me, and takes my 1 million gp.

He then runs off but I didn't give up. I followed him, and start begging him. Stupid of me, to trust a guy that I just met. I begged him for about 30-40 minutes, telling him he can forget all about this and just hand back the 1m. Basically, I kept trying to persuade him that that 1m was hard earned, and him taking in that dishonest way was unfair. I think I finally injected the idea in him, and he gave it back, claiming after that he was joking all along. Of course.

The End, kay thanks #
