The Clan Citadel

There is a lot of confusion and misunderstanding on how the clan citadel is operated. This guide will help you.

Location:

South of Falador, Clan Camp

How to get there - the first time, you need to run from Falador. Upon invitation to a clan, you can get a clan vexillium and clan cloak from two NPCs east of the portal. The vex allows you to teleport you right outside the citadel portal, which you do by right clicking the vex in the slot in the armour tab.

What You NEED To Know:

The citadel starts off with a wood plot, which you use to build other plots, which are unlocked by tier. There are seven tiers. We're going for Tier 5, which unlocks crafting and summoning plots. The most useful plots are crafting and smithing, which doesn't cost you any gp to train on. You can collecting as much according to what tier the storehouse is, and ours is currently Tier 4, which allows us to collect up to 1700 resources.

In order for the citadel to keep running, it needs resources, and this requirement is called upkeep. To meet upkeep you also need a visitor count of 5. Now to BUILD any skill plots or other aesthetics and things like the avatar, you need to upgrade it. This requires 20 visitors, upkeep (always), and resources on top of that to be added cumulative until you get the required amount to buy the next tier.

Now, you can't just keep collect resources. In addition to the resource cap, you have a time limit of one week, which is called the build tick. After and if the upkeep has been met, the citadel will be kept on the same tier. If it doesn't, it will dilapidate to the lower tier. This can be frustrating, as upgrading to the next tier costs thousands if not tens of thousands of resources, which is many build ticks (weeks) and man hours.

Benefits:

The citadel isn't the best training method per hour in the game, but it does offer other benefits. First of all, there are no requirements to skill at a plot, and it's completely free. You don't need to compete for skilling spots, and it's afkable. Other things include a clan cloak exp bonus, clan ring exp bonus, the clan avatar, which gives an unlimited exp bonus anywhere they train.

Clan Avatar: The avatar has a host of abilities called buffs. Currently, we use two. The first is collecting 10% more resources while it's out skilling in the citadel, and the second is XP bonus. Within 10 steps, you can get a 6% exp bonus; within the same world, 3%.

Clan Ring: maintaining fealty also gets you a clan ring, which you are eligible to collect from the quartermaster (across the banker in the clan keep) after collecting 900 resources or so. This gives you a 50% exp bonus outside of the citadel, up to 15-20k exp, which you can activate by right-clicking charge of the skill on the skill plot you desire.

Clan Cloak: If you maintain your fealty, you can also right-click your clan cloak in your inventory for a 5-10k exp bonus in any skill of your choice. The amount is equal to the bonus from the Jack of Trades aura. The cloak also tells you how much fealty you have maintained, which goes up to three weeks, and shows three stars on your cloak. For each consecutive week after your first, it allows you to gain more exp while skilling in the citadel, 15% each week up to three weeks, 45%.

Important:

You are encouraged to collect and such, but it is never mandatory. However, you can help in a very easy way that takes less than 1 minute out of your week, by teleporting to the citadel and walking in and out for visitor count.

There are also a few things you should never do. The first is don't log out with the clan avatar. It will be unavailable for the remaining time of 6 hours from the time you took it out. Secondly, never over-collect on ores or charcoal. This is called spoilage, and it means these resources will not carry over to the next tick. Always check how many bars are needed and how many have been made, or you will waste time collecting.

Say the goals read you need 2000 bars and there are exactly 2000 ores and 2000 charcoal to make. At the same time one smiths them, the counter for charcoal lowers according to how many are left, but no more charcoal is actually needed! For example, if I smith 500 bars and the goal counter says we have 1500 charcoal out of a goal of 2000, 500 charcoal isn't actually needed because it's already been used.

Thanks for reading!
