Badger
One midspring day, upon the path which rolls
Along the river southwards, did I find
The Badger – for Badger whom he was,
And a Badger which he was in kind.
With no affairs to tend, this midspring day,
This Badger, whom and which, I did so greet
And hence expressed my sincere gratitude
Of how Badger and I had come to meet.
Simple and modest as this all first seemed,
I soon became aware of Badger's plight –
Though wild hedgehog was Badger's ideal dish,
This midspring day, not one was there in sight.
Yet nonetheless, my knowledge served me well –
On roots and fruits did Badger also dine,
And thus did I depart, to soon return
With apples fresh and grapes from on the vine.
And by the riverside one midspring day
Did Badger and I share such pleasantry,
And any lust for hedgehog which remained
Was satisfied in pleasant company.
Nice one.
