Was it '04 or '05? Not sure... but, if so, 14 or 15. I almost failed those grades miserably, by the way. Runescape addiction is bad for school.

Hi, WG, I've heard a lot about you guys and was wondering what you were like.
Just to introduce myself, I compiled a brief list of facts about my life: I like to draw, I'm Asian, I hate questing, my favorite color is blue, Owen is a nub, Strength is my highest skill, I'm left-handed, I love Chicken Fetuccine, et je m'appelle Julian.

Do I qualify for Emeritus?

Gaming / Re: Black Ops 2 trailer

Looks cool.

One thing I'm starting to hate about the gaming community is how they bitch over trailers or pre-release information... like a bunch of teen fanboys -- oh, wait. (jk)
The trailer looks interesting. I'd like to see where they're going with the theme.

CoD isn't perfect. PvP-wise, it's a gimmicky, unrealistically repetitive arena. But, as I'm someone who can appreciate military aspects, it still has certain appeals... The weapon and kit customization is still more versatile than that of BF's... and its emphasis on reflex-based fighting is fun for CQB tactics. Yes, 'tactics'. And, anyway, sometimes its cool to be a little less serious and have an over-the-top TDM with nukes and shit.

Story-wise, freaking epic. Always. I love the storylines and scenarios. They're like a good, interactive action flick.

I used to... but don't, at the moment, because I'm a broke bum.
I like my Jedi Shadow, with her double-bladed lightsaber. And the sound of it when you do a helicopter spin... awesome. lol

For those who don't know...

Objectively. SWTOR can be incredibly immersive. Unlike WoW, there are class-specific storylines that merge into and compose a primary plot. Most importantly, virtually all quests are voiced and include multiple alignment and conversational options -- which are also voiced by your character (and/or his companions). Almost every interaction with a quest NPC has a cutscene. With that said, there is a lot more entertainment value for questing in SWTOR than there is in WoW.

As far as game mechanics go, it does share some fundamental MMO aspects with WoW. There are auctions, mounts, FP's, guilds, BG's, specs, and instances. You'll need healers, tanks, and DPS for difficult instances or raids. It is its own beast, however, and this is due to many of its adjustments and additional features to the WoW template: The Imperial Agent/Smuggler cover system, companion crafting, BG level balance, family trees, romance, etc.

Subjectively, SWTOR is great. I loved the storylines and character themes; I love Star Wars, in general. But I also enjoyed the effort to keep the character progression interesting. You can lose track of your level after getting drawn in by the storyline and various planet scenes. You even get your own ship.

I won't sugercoat it, though. Naturally, more content has to be added for the higher lvls. Until that happens, unless you despise (or suck at) PvP, you may be reduced to occupying yourself with leveling alts.

Overall, it's definitely worth checking out.

Real Life Discussion / Re: Odd habits
April 28, 2012, 10:22:27 PM
1. I brush my teeth before and after breakfast.
2. When I have to go outside (for a short period of time), I go barefoot. It's an Aussie thing.
3. I tend to imitate people's speech patterns, especially when first meeting them.
4. My voice often gets raspy when I'm under sudden pressure.
5. I sometimes sleep in a soldier position, laying flat, facing up, with my arms and legs straight -- sometimes with my hands at my chest, as if I were in a coffin.

I know there's more... but I think I've made the point that I'm weird.

Gaming / Re: Favorite video games of all time.

There's too many to count... but, off the top of my head:

[No specific order]

Total War: Medieval (and others) - Sophisticated and historically-based. One of the best RTS's, in my opinion. Less weird microing... and more practical strategy.

Eve Online - Complex and unforgiving, but a true sci-fi experience. The shear vastness of space has an appeal to it, and the player politics and influence is reminiscent of RS.

UFC Undisputed - The most innovative martial arts game today, in my opinion, implementing ground game as well as stand-up, with a good selection of techniques from various MA's.

SWTOR - Incredibly immersive RPG experience, with an MMO element. And I love SW, so it's just fun being in places I've watched in movies.

Metal Gear Solid: Twin Snakes (and others) - One of the most satisfying stealth games of our time (unfortunately). It's not perfect, but not many games pull off the stealth, infiltration theme as well as MGS.

Battlefield 3 - Unprecedented graphics, bullet physics, AND vehicles. I do wish there were more customization, but it's still one of the best.

Company of Heroes - Units take cover, garrison buildings, commandeer enemy weapon systems and more. A truly underrated RTS that should be recognized as of the most fun and dynamic of its kind.

Rainbow Six Vegas 2 - A good selection of weapons, armor, and camo. Somewhat realistic combat that encourages taking cover and devising plans. And I'm a fan of CQB tactics: An easy favorite for me.

I like "logical", reasonably realistic gameplay, meaning, if it should happen... it does happen -- regardless of genre. More often than naught, this isn't the case, but a few games will have this prominent quality. I also like variety. It makes for a near infinite number of scenarios, and also tests your judgement and skill.

This is going to make me sound like a nerd, but it's so annoying:

1. When people say "your" when they really mean "you're" and the other way round.

IT'S NOT DIFFICULT.
... And getting called a Grammar Nazi when you finally say something about it.

Ugh. Don't get me started.
Must... resist... the urge... to write a 2 page lecture on how pride shields ignorance through social rhetoric.
I don't care if I sound like a nerd.  :@

and yes, all dubbed anime sucks -.-

/geek mode  :P

... Actually, Cowboy Bebop, F.M.A., Ghost in the Shell, and DBZ/DB dubs were awesome. The old "English Dub sucks" argument is a cliché.
Especially DBZ... Hearing Goku's voice in Japanese irks me every time.  :fp:

Hehe, thanks, Veph.
I'm not sure I want to re-apply yet, though. The truth is, I may not be active, and I wouldn't want the clan to depend on me for any kind of input.

@Bgp: A proud Brazilian spastic, eh? Well, I guess I'm a proud American knucklehead. Nice to meet you, lol.  :P

@Pyro: Hey! It's good to see you again!

@Colin: Yeah, what's up, man! I hope the Army's been treating you well.

@James: Thank you.  :)
