Hadrian's Wall - went there a few years back, can't remember much but I believe it was nice.
Lake District - Haven't been myself but everyone says great things about it
Manchester - If you're a non-smoker you should be ok. Don't give money to anyone who asks.
Stonehenge -  ##

Other recommendations - Isle of Wight possibly? And the Port of Dover - beautiful place especially in the morning/evening.

Startford-upon-avon, Warrick castle, The Cotswold... All local(ish) to me.

oo went to those places (except The Cotswold) last winter. was very nice, you should check those out lordy.

Sorry if this is old, but you're going to the Orkney Islands? I was just talking to Owen about Scotland in the IRC yesterday. Gotta tell me what it's like over there.
