Trailer can't possibly do the movie any justice...

Seriously.

Without giving away too much spoiler material, I can safely say that my critical eye for realism in a movie of both plotlines and general physics, Interstellar is a hairsbreath away from utterly mindblowing...

The visual effects were spot on, it had humor, it didn't have any unrealistic traits in the characters (all of which, btw, are engineers and scientists), and the physics and representation (and most important of all, the explanation) of those physics like timedilation, wormhole physics, higher-dimensional beings... Spot on... They have really done their homework for this, even by Chris Nolan's standards... Does that make this movie factually correct? No... But let's leave some of the Fi in Sci-Fi...

Of course the music was once again portrayed by mr Zimmer. And while the music was tuned to the movie, it did not have a position in the front row as you would see in movies like Inception or the Pirates series. And still, because it was there and then not in the same scene at one time, and continued to flow from scene to scene making it seemingly irrelevant to what was on screen during other scenes, it has a major impact on the way you experience the movie.

If there wasn't some emotionally laden line from one of the scientists about love being able to transcend time and space, this movie would've been perfect for just about everyone. The characters were believable as you could imagine meeting someone like that in the very movie theatre you're watching this movie in in an instant. Not even minor character inconsistencies were visible. There was no trace of the whacky humorous alien left in John Lithgow (3rd Rock from the Sun), just as there isn't a hint of the desert-surfing dude from Sahara in McConaughey. There's even a surprise major appearance (and I mean truly major for someone who wasn't even billed on the poster or seen in the trailers) by an academy award winning actor.

Those who watched and enjoyed movies like Gravity, 2001: A Space Odyssey or Contact, and came away from those no longer being fully entertained by Star Trek, StarWars or The X-files will have found a new favourite here.

For those that weren't a fan of Sci-Fi: Beware! You might just become one...

I think Anon would be very effective if ISIS used technology from this century...
#7
Problem with ISIS is that they use mostly 1970s tech...

It always was that.

And not to burst any bubbles, but PK-ing was the apex, the zenith, the crown juwel of measuring e-peens...

Interviewer: Do you support ISIS blah bla blah?

Guest: Blah blah blah (anything but "no"

Wrong answer. I award you no points, and you have made even muslims hate you now. Sorry, not even a consolation prize. You'll have to travel in the cargohold as we deport your hatefilled ass back to the desert.

If you always kill the weakest ones (say, the 10% most useless and detrimental to humanity's progress), you're eventually going to be in that group to be "recycled" one day...

Btw, I never said killing. I said to get over it. Discard useless traditions, beliefs and so on. But Randy is only partially right. It so happens that one of those antiquated ideas is to have 897345 children. Time might be on our side, but stupidity breeds a helluva lot faster.

...And someone argued that Star Trek's prime directive (not interfering in primitive cultures) is probably the best foreign policy that western nations should adopt...

Here's my paraphrased and elaborated counter argument...

"Hmm... Are we saying that the arab, islamic, desert, or whatever you want to call it, is a primitive culture, and should therefore not interfere, and let it be?

In essence, I would agree. This also goes for most of sub-Saharan Africa, and certain rural areas in the southern United States. However...

We live in a globalised, or at least globalizing world, with common trends (Gucci is just as popular in South Africa, as it is in Japan, Vietnam, the United Arab Emirates, or in the Western world), a common telecommunications system (the interwebs), and trends toward the common (english globally as a 2nd language, and judging on the invention of Pinyin, the ever more prevalant usage of the latin alphabet).

What happens culturally elsewhere in the world affects me, be it economically, financially, environmentally, physically, or psychologically, especially when different cultures with different standards of what is considered "normal" collide.

So what should we do?

Multiculturalism has utterly failed, so what we need to do is take the best part of each culture and discard the rest of it.

Whatever enhances the quality of life for most people in the world should happen, and if that goes against some archaic belief, tradition or ritual that your daddy's dad before him has taught you, tough luck.

NO REALLY; get over it. Women deserve the same opportunities and freedoms as men do. Blacks can be racists and gays are people too. Democratic rule of law works better than honorrape- and vengeancekilling- autocracies and theocracies. The Death-penalty doesn't work. The Scientific method does. Global Warming is Climate Change and it's really happening. Pluto isn't a planet anymore, and alternative medicine isn't medicine.

Peace!"

Btw, the class is called Educational Sociology and Diversity...

It's here!

Got my new computer, which means I can play RS once again in full HD and smoothly at that!
The days of RS on 4fps with the screen looking as grainy like you're playing Tetris are OVER!

I was right; it's a 64bit system, has 4 i7 cores, 8GB ram (can be expanded to 16), and 2GB visual memory.

All I need to do now is transfer my 1TB disc from my old computer :)

I know, I'm zombieing this, but some people promised to post here :)

Turns out; still no such unique drops fro the Wild (so far), and with Legacy Mode, OSRS has seen a relative drop in total players...

Ball is still in jagex' court...

RuneScape is pretty much the only game I play other than some flash things...

Considering its mostly to use for school projects and such, I think this is a decent choice...

The computer I'm about to buy says it has this for memory slots:

2x dimm DDR3 SDRAM

What is the max I can shove in there? Any other info on this is also appreciated, the web is a bit vague on it :S

If you're certain about your job-security, you may want to watch this video, or even send it to someone who could use a dousing of reality.
