Introduce Yourself / Community Intro - Amethystia

COMMUNITY INTRODUCTION: Amethystia

My RuneScape Name: Amethystia

About Me: The first ever birthday present I got was my name. On February 20th of 1993 I got "Keanu", a Hawaiian name - "ke" being a definite article and "anu" meaning "a cool breeze". 11 years later and I was entirely unaware of the etymology when choosing a username for an online game I was being introduced to, and wanted "Kecool" - ironically perfectly appropriate. But sadly it was taken, and for reasons still unknown my friend CJ added "er" onto the end, and thus "Kecooler" became my first RuneScape account.

The next thirteen years of my life could not be properly described without mentioning both RuneScape and WG frequently, much of which is already well known. A few years ago whilst being indoctrinated into a political/social ideology I was tasked with choosing a new name for myself, and settled on "Vio". Pronounciation between the English "Vaio" and French "Veo" isn't particularly important, but I prefer the latter. The name itself is a shortened version of the french "Violet" (because I was not interested in actually calling myself Violet for reasons pertaining to gender), which translates to purple.

While I have since come to my political senses and now denote Vio as a pseudonym for online and creative activity, it serves the same purpose. My love for purple ise a direct result of WG's clan colour. The Wilderness Guardians has irreversably become a part of my identity, and I have the name (and the car, for those of you who have seen Neko) to reflect it.

C'est moi. I'm a 24 year old delivery driver for Domino's, residing in northwest England. I like cars, cats and casual pc gaming. In RuneScape I like slayer, construction and looting fights. I would love to say that once you join the clan world you never leave, but too many players prove that wrong. Nonetheless I haven't after 11 years, the majority of the past 7 being spent in and around WG and it's affiliates.

Clan history (if any): I love this question, simply because every time it pops up on an intro/app form, I can just paste in this video:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lerBYMFmuww

And it saves me so much time cataloguing 11 years of clans. Since that video was made I've rejoined my first clan RBH once again, and thus far remain a member.

Where did you hear about us? The leaked adult forum screenshots & teamspeak rant soundboard, 2006

Planning to join? See below.

Final comments (if any): If you are interested in some constructive criticism on why I have refrained from rejoining WG, here it is.

I have always looked for community in a clan, and WG was the obvious choice when I joined in 2009. To critique the community today would be ineffective - it has actually significantly improved since around 2012/2013.

Here's my problem though - WG historically did not settle for simply having a good community. This was the clan that made tshirts, hosted then-unheard-of real life meetings, produced epic flash movies, had songs, the most elegant and prestigious website in the clan world, and so much more. WG went above and beyond in almost every way possible, and was vastly unique from the rest of the clan world by a large margin.

Starting today, I have a week booked off work for what should have been a real life meeting which Steve and I were interested in hosting. There was only the mildest of interest when I proposed it to our GMT unit, and no sign ups indicated it would not happen.

I called myself Ranged King back in the early days of the SMF era, so 80 range was no problem for me. But power training to 85 magic was not something I was interested in, and thus I, WG/DG Keanu, former Historian, DG Leader, WG Warlord and 2nd in Command, was removed without a second thought for not meeting level requirements.

What this represents is a change of direction. Under Lordship WG was all of the above, under Mojo it is different. And there is nothing wrong with aspiring primarily for success in in-game PvP, as is WG's current focus, but it's not the reason I chose WG 8 years ago.

I have made unbreakable friendships here with people like Lordship, Mojo, Stokenut, and many more, which will outlast the lifespan of RuneScape. I have two WG t-shirts, a diary with WG on the front cover, a car in the clan's colours, and a name. And I have no doubt in my mind that someday I'll find myself posting an application for membership here once again.

But not today.

I'm curious to explore the rest of the clan world now. I've never joined a top clan before and DF only asks for 80 mage, which may be my next port of call. I still have Discord and Facebook to keep in touch with WG in the meantime, but that's all I really need now.

I'm not sure if I hated Edale when it was happening or not. Stuck in a cold, dark barn with no sleeping bag, physically suffering whilst trying to climb a mountain... I think I did hate it. It might be rose-tinted glasses working, but I can't not look back on it with a satisfying fondness. It was one of the last great memories I have of WG. Sure AGS specing people and getting ely splits was nice, but Edale, London, the RuneFests... there isn't much that can compare.

I hope that someday WG feels like climbing mountains again. When that day comes, I'll come home.

Nat'l Geographic Presents: A Runescape Documentary "A Decade of Terror"

"What makes RoT the unstoppable force they are today? How did an empire that warped RuneScape PvP into its current shape transpire? And why does every player know their name?"

Vio (producer of the 2012 film "The Wilderness - An Unauthorised Biography") takes an in-depth look into RuneScape's most infamous clan - their journey from a mischevous and malevolent syndicate over a decade ago, to the feared and respected empire which today reigns unchallenged over Old-School RuneScape.

I'm a huge fan of over edits, but they never really took off with clans for some reason.
IMO these 2 are some of the best clan videos I've seen in quite a while.
It's a shame these guys aren't bigger - the vids alone are worth some recognition.

OSRS INTRODUCTION: WGV

My RuneScape Name: WGV
My Previous RSNs: The important ones are Kecooler, WG Keanu, DG Keanu and Vio Amethyst. If I were to include all my accounts, this list would easily exceed 100 names.
Joining for PvP events: Yes
My Combat Level: 104
My Stats:

About my RuneScape Account and History: I started playing in Summer 03, over 12 years ago. My current display name is pretty straightforward. I enjoy looting wars, training construction and bank standing. I've recently taking a liking to slayer as well, and am currently midway though MEP2 (hating it). I only have a few quests left till the cape actually.

My past clans/teams and any current teams: http://forums.zybez.net/topic/1514347-iyouri-clan-history/page__st__200#entry14288496

The above is correct up until August 2011. After that I ended up as forum tech in WG, Emeritus, quit RS, rejoined WG, quit RS again, rejoined RBH, quit RS a 3rd time, and am back again. Should last another couple months or so.

About me: I'm Vio, male, 22 and a resident of England since 2004. I'm a driver for Domino's. I love cars - I have 4 of them and spend most of my time and money fixing and modifying them. I also love driving and pizza, so I'm living the dream here, but wouldn't mind ending up as a mechanic a little later down the line. I have 2 cats called Dixie and Vladimir.

I heard about WG through: His Lordship's soundboard back in 2006
I want to join because: It's been almost 7 years since I first joined #wg_lobby with the intention of someday posting an application. 7 years later and after all that's happened, there aren't many other clans out there that I'm capable of joining. WG is home.

Regarding TeamSpeak 3, I have: Installed

Regarding future events which may impact my activity: I work evenings, which rules out pretty much all events for me. I'd like Emeritus or the return of the Aussie Raid.

Creative Corner / Badger

Badger

One midspring day, upon the path which rolls
Along the river southwards, did I find
The Badger – for Badger whom he was,
And a Badger which he was in kind.

With no affairs to tend, this midspring day,
This Badger, whom and which, I did so greet
And hence expressed my sincere gratitude
Of how Badger and I had come to meet.

Simple and modest as this all first seemed,
I soon became aware of Badger's plight –
Though wild hedgehog was Badger's ideal dish,
This midspring day, not one was there in sight.

Yet nonetheless, my knowledge served me well –
On roots and fruits did Badger also dine,
And thus did I depart, to soon return
With apples fresh and grapes from on the vine.

And by the riverside one midspring day
Did Badger and I share such pleasantry,
And any lust for hedgehog which remained
Was satisfied in pleasant company.

RuneScape Discussion / I confess everything.
October 03, 2014, 03:50:39 AM
In my early days I fore-fronted the Wine of Zamorak scam. I lured at least 20 players in 2006 alone, collecting items of values ranging from 100gp to 20k.

~

In early 2007 an ex-clanmate quit RuneScape and was selling his bank for real world cash. He gave me his address, I mailed him $20 and we RWTed 8m at the duel arena. This was my bank directly after, the new items are in red:

~

In mid-2007 I was walking along the road south of Ice Mountain when I came across two players. One had thought there was no one around and said his password aloud (his date of birth, september### something I believe) just as I appeared. He quickly spammed the chat and logged out to change his password, but not before I had grabbed a screenshot. I logged out, logged onto his account, dropped all his tradeables, home teleported him to Lumbridge, then logged back in on my account and picked up all his stuff. There were several dragon and barrows items, and I got a good few mil out of it.

I would mention the event in passing to some clanmates, but would always deny that I actually scammed him. I kept an eye on his stats via runetracker, and noticed that he stopped gaining XP and likely quit as a result of my actions. This has haunted me for seven years.

~

In 2007, my clan Moratorium was about to fight Pureclip's Phoenix Elites in a steel war, and I knew we were going to lose. I deliberately stalled for half an hour, giving PE time to walk up, get hit by a clan in proper gear, and lose a considerable amount of their members. This resulted in PE starting with only 39 opts, and guaranteed my clan the win.

~

I once bought an account for $20 US, for the purpose of spying on Jaja during the BH era of 2009/2010 so that WG could hunt them on our raids. The staff were aware of this. However, the person I had bought it from had his email compromised and I lost access to the account before WG could make use of it.

~

Some may remember that in 2009, Saad/Indivi2you backstabbed and killed me during a WG raid and received a suspension for it. He had attacked me and I suddenly and apparently "DCed", which I did not - I pretended to have lost connection and simply watched as he killed me. We disliked each other greatly and I knew he would kill me given the chance, and so I decided a few hundred k was worth seeing him get suspended. It was.

~

Some may also remember how strongly I was against the gear checks we had in 2009/2010. Here's how far that extended - every single gear check screenshot that would have passed (and some weren't) was photoshopped. I was never called out on it though, so I guess I'm pretty good at it or no one cared.

~

In the early days of my raids with WG, I had a habit of bringing the painted kiteshields from PoH easels as part of my gear, and would joke about WG not being able to tell if they were Rune or steel.

...they were ALWAYS steel.

~

I have bought gold on multiple occasions from at least three different WG members. Contrary to popular belief, the Santa Hat I got from Steve/Stoke was *not* bought. However, I did buy gold from him on at least two occasions. I have also sold my own gold to two WG members.

~

During our short-lived rivalry with my former clan the Red Blade Hunters in 2010, I applied for RBH on a spare account so we could track them on PKs. Again, the WG staff were aware of my actions, and we successfully hunted and cleared RBH several times. Sadly I was discovered to be multiclanning by RBH staff via my IRC host (before I took better steps to ensure anonymity). I had Gene deny knowing anything about it, and convinced RBH that I had just wanted to be a part of their community again without leaving WG. They bought it.

~

When my clan The Blade Keepers closed in 2011, I took the entire contents of our clan bank account (roughly 10m value, of which only about 200k was legitimately mine), transferred it all to my account and kept it. I did the same with the clan I led before that - Moratorium - in 2007, though for a considerably less amount.

Was home alone today. Cat started meowing for food, but her bowl was in the sink and nobody had washed it. So instead of washing it myself, I just put catfood in one of our chinese soup bowls and let her eat from that.

Post the laziest things you've done.

House of Random / Hello
May 06, 2014, 01:23:32 AM
It's 1:20 AM and I just got back from a poker tournament and the weirdest shit just happened.

It was raining lightly outside when I walked back to my house.
I was about to go inside when I heard what sounded like a tapping noise.
I walked across the street to where it was coming from.

It turned out to be rainwater falling onto a sign above a nearby shop.
But it was very loud, and could possibly prevent people from sleeping.
So I walked up to this sign and said

SSSSSSSHHHHHHHHHHH

And then THE RAIN STOPPED and it suddenly went quiet.
So I whispered "thank you" and started to walk away
When all of a sudden it started that tapping noise again

So I stopped in the middle of the road
And said

SSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

And it stopped again.
And it did not make any more noise from then onwards.

I think I am a god of some kind.
