Let's have a discussion about our privacy, because this is a serious topic.

Over the last couple of days, we've learned about Verizon, Microsoft, Google, Yahoo! Facebook, PalTalk, Youtube, Skype, AOL, Apple, and Verizon sharing vast amount of data with the government in ways that should be driving our country nuts right now. All of this started under George Bush under the Patriot Act in an attempt to secure our nation. It has since been expanded under Barack Obama in his "most transparent presidency".

According to the document, the NSA can tap into our Email, video chat, voice chat, videos, photos, stored data, as well as other social networking details. These important tech companies have been sharing your data whether you're an American or not.

Since the problem stems from digital sources, I urge you to protect yourself by being a more responsible internet user. Some of these things are harder than others, and I understand that many are too lazy/complacent to do anything about it. Shame on you. Here's some ways to start:

Ditch your Facebook/Instagram account. Twitter seems relatively safe...for now.
Host your own mail server or rent out a cheap box. Encrypt your emails.
Don't get NEAR Skype. Skype is infamous for being completely loose with user data.
Don't have Verizon phone/internet/TV.
Using Yahoo!, Google, or Bing? Sorry. Use Duckduckgo instead.
Not using Youtube is a rather hard thing to request, but thankfully unless you're uploading your own videos or you're not connected via your GMail account, you are a little better off. There's not much of an alternative here.
Don't use Google Chrome, Internet Explorer, or Safari. Firefox with some security addons or some obscure Linux browser protects your data much better.
Encrypt your hard drives.
Don't use Windows/iOS operating systems. Switch to Linux/BSD (steer away from Ubuntu though), where people aren't actively grasping for your information.

I'm sure this sounds irrational to...all of you. It's sad that there's really no rational way to avoid all of this. I know you have people begging you to write/call your local politicians all the time, but I beg you to do it this one time.

To non-US residents: Sorry our government sucks and that they spy on you too.

However I'm out for a bit because of a longboard injury. Strained my MCL and got severe bone bruising on my upper left shin, some stitches in my right ankle because a little twig jabbed into my leg and got stuck there, and a 4" laceration to the back of my head. I had to get two layers of stitches on my head, one set of "deep" stitches and then some on top (you could see my skull! :O).

All worth it though! I'll be riding again ASAP!

Started playing in fall of 2003, my RSN is the Arch Linux update command (pacman -Syu). I did most of the regular stuff RS players do but took a great interest towards f2p clan pking. I joined a clan called the Knights of Varrock sometime in 2004 or 2005 where I met another player named Dodge King. The clan only had 15 members or so. I later split off with Dodge King to start the Crimson Vipers. We had around ~40 active members at a time but had ~150 over our three or so year run. It's all shady now because that was several years ago. I trusted a popular and trusted member of RuneScape Community to host an Invision Power Board for us, but he actually ended up going through the passwords and accessing some of our players accounts. This made a major blow on the clan and resulted in its death. I also ended my membership and took a couple year break from RuneScape at this time. I returned in the winter of 2011 to get 99 cooking without botting to show up a friend that botted his. Ever since I've just been getting back into the groove and chatting in the reddit clan chat.

4. How did you hear about us and what makes you want to join WG or DG? Also, which of these two clans are you applying for?
Fun answer, I actually found out about the Wilderness Guardians several years ago (think 2005) by running into them in-game at a costume contest in world 5. I remember seeing His Lordship (at level 70-something) judging the contestants. I was twelve or thirteen at the time so I ran around taking screenshots while typing obnoxious things like "Yah!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!". Nevertheless, I was not insulted. I'd like to join DG because I had admired His Lordship and his leadership all through my own clanning experience (as a RuneScape Community member, I was aware of WG's presence later). I think it would be neat to finally join the clan I admired the best. However, I am applying for DG.  :$


Your PvP Experience

5. What Multi-combat PvP Experience do you have? Be sure to mention any recent or past F2P or P2P PvP Clans you have been in.
I've never done much P2P PVP, but I probably levelled 70-85 combat in the wilderness f2p pking with the Crimson Vipers (see above). I appointed a f2p pk leader, who I am still good friends with today, although he is inactive from RuneScape. We participated in a few wars and had pk trips several times a week. I haven't been in the wilderness in years though for PVP, I miss it dearly.  :|

6. Our warring times are usually between 4PM EST/9PM GMT and 6PM EST/11PM GMT on weekends, but sometimes weekdays, can you regularly be active at these times?
Yes indeed.

7. Do you understand that all PvP Events are Mandatory if you are online, and that you face removal from the clan should you blatantly skip these events?
Yes indeed.


Your Activity and Availability

8. Do you agree to check WG Forums daily and be on IRC at all times while you are in game, and to be on Teamspeak for all Wars and Raids? 9. Is there anything in the near future that may impact your activity or ability to attend events?
Busy college semester approaching, but I will try my hardest to be as active as possible. (Forum activity was never a struggle for me, in my past clan I had some 10k forum posts over our multiple forums).
